If Kamille planned on let Edgar doing the fight, he would probably be drunk too, because once Xalmann refused to drink, she threw the waterskin to him. Edgar took a large gulp with satisfaction, before passing it along to the others, first to the other woman, Poe, and then she took it to he man that was fishing.
Kamille remained sitting by the fire, watching Xalmann as he refused to drink and to sit. She never said she was actually going to fight him, though. That would probably dissappoint him in a few moments.
"Marsh Flats? I've been there a couple of times... Went to find the Blood Lily, an incredible rare lily that blooms only during certain phases of the moon and with a drop of blood. There's some tough stuff in the marsh..."
She hated the marsh, but she wouldn't say it to his face, of course.
"And what you're doing here, again? In Moonglade? Certainly you didn't come all this way here just to... fish? Do you run around asking people to fight you? This would certainly land you in some trouble, sooner or later..."
Once again, Edgar gave out a silent chuckle, while trying to keep his hands occupied with the fish. He was really skilled with a blade.

Again, the large one chuckled at something he didn't understand. And her possible stand in was drinking. This whole situation didn't sit right with the Lizardman. She was acting as if she wouldn't be fighting him at all, like his challenge meant nothing to her. Was this just some friendly conversation in her mind?
He didn't care for her personal experience of the Marsh Flats. It was simply his birthplace, and he had answered as such. He had been raised there and he had nearly died there with the rest of his tribe. He wasn't particularly patriotic about it. He'd even enjoyed not having to trek through mud once he had left the place. The grassy plains of the Luna Valley had been surprisingly pleasant. He also liked the cool, non murky and disgusting water of the lake.
"I do not... run around asking people to fight me." he said, repeating what Kamille had accused him of. It was a more complicated sentence than he usually said. His mastery of the common language was still a work in progress, but he understood her meaning. He didn't go around challenging everyone. Did she not even realize why he had challenged her?
"I am looking for someone. I only challenged you because you insulted me." he said, trying to use the right words. He hated having to talk so much, but he needed to know if this woman understood his reasons to fight her instead of just thinking he was some brute running amok.
He glanced at Poe, who had been there to witness it all. Did she not understand either? Was something wrong with all four of these people?

The woman looked blissfully unaware of his challenge, it would seem. And not one of her partners seemed to be worried about it. But when Xalmann said he was looking for someone, her eyes lit up imediately, a charming smile curving her lips.
"Oh..... You're looking for someone? Here? In Moonglade? I know a lot of people around here, you know...."
Once again, she made a gesture as to have him sit by her side in the grass. She didn't seem to be going anywhere, and if he wanted to squeeze a fight out of her - although it seemed very unlikely that was on her priority list - Xalmann probably would have to stick around for a while.
"Can I inquiry as to why you're looking for this person? I can certainly help you, you know... Even if I don't know this person, I may as well have a way of finding them... I've lived here for a while, met a few people..."
She looked interested in his story, more than ever. She blatantly ignored his remarks about his challenge, mainly because she completely intended on letting it slide into oblivion and not fight him.
When he loked over to Poe, who was bringing back the waterskin with alcohol, she just shrugged and nodded, furrowing her brow as she indicated Kamille's gesture for him to sit. Then she went to finish preparing other fish, putting more into the fire.

This woman really wants him to sit next to her for some reason. He wasn't used to anyone ever wanting him to sit next to them, more like just tolerating that he had. No one was ever eager to be joined by the angry, not very friendly looking, bad at talking, and often burning hot Lizardman. He honestly wasn't sure how to feel about such seemingly positive attention.
With suspicion in his narrowed eyes, he sat down cross legged by the fire, but not directly next to Kamille. He kept some room between them because he wasn't sure about her intentions yet. She really didn't seem at all like she was planning on honoring his challenge and fighting him in a duel. It was frustrating.
But, she had offered assistance with finding his target. He'd take any opportunity to find Dagon, even if it was from someone so annoying.
"I am looking for a god named Dagon. He burned my tribe and village." he said with some anger in his voice.
Just speaking of Dagon made his blood boil. He couldn't stop the red hot glow from returning to his scales and a growl from escaping his mouth.

Well..... She never said she accepted his challenge to begin with... He would probably have to come at her if he wanted a fight. Funily enough, if nobody wanted to be joined by the angry, not very friendly looking, bad at talking lizardman, the Witch seemed to want his company. Xalmann wasn't the first lizardman she came across, and wouldn't be the last. And, of course, there was a part of her that was thanking Father Ginma for giving her such generous sight on that day that didn't promise to be so eventful when she got out of the house... But as for his story, she did really seem like she was paying attention. She looked.... interested. But the name didn't bring the light of recognition to her eyes, so she inquiried further. " A god named Dagon? What is he like? Where exactly from the Marshs are you from?" She stood up for a moment, checking the firepit and the food. A delicious, roasted and herbal aroma started to rise within minutes of being in the fire. A moment longer and she seemed to deem the food was good enough. She took one of the fish and offered it to Xalmann, hoping to placate his anger. " And he did that unprompted? Were you guys at war or something? Or he just happened across your village and destroyed it?" The other woman, Poe, got another fish and went to share with the two other man, away from the Witch and the lizardman, so they could speak freely.
"You do need to work on your anger. It fuels your fire, but it becomes unpredictable. Ginma blessed you to with the power of fire and earth, as I noticed. You ought to be making better use of it."

Xalmann was a bit suspicious. She was asking for a lot of information now and didn't seem to know anything about Dagon. She probably wouldn't be very helpful after all. He hated talking about Dagon and that night because of how angry it made him. He wasn't sure it would be worth it to say anything to her about it if she didn't know anything helpful.
He took the offered fish silently and began to eat. He could at least make her wait until he was finished his meal before answering her. He was slightly less annoyed with her. The fish was good and it made up for the bird stealing his rations. He would answer her question in the hope it would lead to her being able to find something. He could forget her insults long enough to possibly progress in his goal.
"Dagon became our god. He spoke to us. Gave us advice. Not everyone believed in him. Some stayed with the old god, the dragon turtle. We fought with them, and a fire appeared. Dagon told us to run through the fire to attack them. We thought he would protect us from the fire. He was our god and we thought he was just testing us. He did not protect us. We all burned. I almost died. The Bloody Axes Tribe was all burned to death except me." he replied somberly, with a hint of anger he worked very hard to keep under control. Just thinking about Dagon made him furious.
He looked at Kamille when she spoke about his anger and magic. He didn't know who this Ginma she mentioned was, and he was already working on bringing his anger under his control. It was the main reason he was here, trying to fish. It was supposed to be a relaxing experience, or so he'd been told.
"Hmph. Who is Ginma?"

Kamille really didn't know about this God Dagon that he spoke of. Neither did she know the other gods that his kind worshipped, more used to the ones that everyone knew. Solaria, Lunala, Avasha...
Ginma.
It came as a surprise to her that he didn't know Ginma, since he was clearly blessed by the earth God. Either way...
"Well........... Serves you right for trusting a God. The Gods can be mischievous and treacherous, just like people. But we know very little of their intentions. Serves as a lesson to not step on fire next time a God tells you to do so."
Once she was finished with her piece of the fish, she stood up, putting up her high boots.
"As for Ginma.... Ginma is who created the physical world. His domain is that of life and earth and fire. It is him who gave you this fire. If there is anyone you should be paying any respect, it would be him...... Still, he is a God, and not without any flaw..."
Speaking for herself, she didn't have a high regard for Ginma, but certainly acknowledged his power and influence. Sometimes she felt somewhat grateful for him, but it was hard to reconcile both aspects of the god.
"Either way..... How do you plan on fighting a god? Once you find him, what's your plan? How do you find a god if he doesn't want to be found? Do you have any part of a strategy worked out already?"

Xalmann was extremely angry at Kamille's statements, but couldn't vocalize any response than a growl. It was true that it was his own fault for running through the fire when ordered to, but for her to say such a thing just after being told that it had been the cause of death for his entire village, his entire tribe. He couldn't believe the audacity of this person. She was more heartless than the merciless Lizardman who had grown up raiding wagons and pillaging enemy tribes in the marshes.
He glared at her as his scales grew hotter again. He hated that he was showing such a temper again after being told off by her earlier for needing to get his anger under control. But, it felt like every second he spent with this person just made him angrier. She was the rudest, most irritating person he'd ever encountered.
"I do not care about Ginma. I will not worship another god ever again." he said, standing up.
He had finished eating the meal she had given him and decided he had no further business with this person. She clearly wasn't going to honor his duel, yet another insult from her. But at this point he didn't care about the insults. He just wanted to leave. He made sure he had all of his belongings with him and just started walking away.
"If you can not help find him, I will do it myself." he hissed back to her as he walked away.
He didn't care for any more advice she might try to give. It just brought him more annoyance. It may have been irrational for him to refuse help in his goal, but he couldn't stand this person any longer even if she was hiding Dagon behind her back. He'd find Dagon himself. She didn't need to know his plans if she wasn't going to be any help to them.

Despite all of her provocations and insults, the lizardman still insisted on not taking his weapon out and trying to fight her either way - even when she showed she wouldn't be honoring her end of the deal she never made. He was, indeed, honorable. And despite showing clearly his anger, he was able to control it.
Promising.
As he comented on he would never again worship any other god, she smiled, standing up too and having her things packed up. All of the other three with her seemed to take the hint and do the same, the one still fishing retrieving the line.
"That is wise. Believe only on your strength and your will, and even then in moderation."
The woman pulled up a cloak over her shoulders; it was a feathery cloak, lined with black feathers that made her look a little big bigger.
"Worry not, Xalmann Dakarr of the Bloody Axes Tribe... If I ever get wind of your damned Dagon, I'll make sure the information gets to you. I have eyes in a few places. And when it comes a time when you wish to step up your game on regards to your magic, they say that the Witch of Moonglade is a pyromancer always willing to help. Until next time."
