After a recent attack on a Fighter’s Guild encampment, Das was more than happy to help a fellow Fellblood named Javal assist with defending the grounds. It was a tough fight, to say the least, one of the hardest Das has endured in a long time. Still, he feels like he learned something from it. There are many ways to fight that don’t just have to do with brute strength, and while the giant red Fellblood has that going for him, some finesse and tact could do him some good. The Martial Academy seems like the right place to start if he’s looking for entrance into the guild to learn a thing or two. The question is… How exactly does he get in? It isn’t like he can just go inside and ask. Maybe he needs to prove himself. Well, he did sort of prove himself to Javal…he thinks. So maybe he needs to show what he’s made of. Still, he’s not going to just challenge some random person he doesn’t know to a brawl. That seems rude. Rather than taking any action at all, Das stands in front of the locked doors with one finger wrapped around his chin thoughtfully. What exactly should he do…?

Killian wasn’t sure why he was here. He didn’t want to join any guild, wasn’t looking for friends, wasn’t looking for a place to belong. So why? Why did his feet find their way here, to this academy? He had heard this place was connected to the Fighter’s Guild, and suddenly here he was.
Why? Why in the hell?
Because of what a little girl said?
... Look fer the Fighter's Guild. I think ya'd be a good match fer that group.
Killian frowned, looking over the Academy. There were a few people walking about, but he found nothing that called out to him, nothing that said ‘you belong’. He ground his teeth, his hand gripping tightly to the hilt of his sheathed sword. He could feel the nick in the handle from the day he met Ambika, and a bitter taste filled his mouth and suddenly he’d had enough.
He spun on his heel and stormed away from the front doors where he had been standing and thinking, and suddenly he was colliding with a red wall of metal and muscle, and he would have lost his balance if he hadn’t had over a decade of sword training to perfect his footwork [Cat’s Grace].

Given Das’s distraction with thinking about what to do (and his one eye not helping his perception), he doesn’t even realize that someone else was also lamenting what to do until that guy runs right smack into him. “Oh, shoot, sorry,” he instinctively apologizes, presuming he’s done something wrong even though he absolutely hasn’t done a thing at all besides standing in one place. “Are you alright? I didn’t mean to be in your way. Maybe this isn’t the best place to stand. I suppose the doors could open at any moment and have struck me though…”
Making sure the other man hasn’t fallen over, Das looking him over. “Ah, probably isn’t the best place to stand given that so many people are sparring out here. My apologies. I was just trying to figure out how to talk to someone inside.” Offering one red gauntleted hand to the other man, Das introduces himself. “Kar’Das’Dun. Or just Das. Good to meet you.”

Killian had to tilt his head back to get a good look at the Fellblood, who stood a solid foot taller than the swordsman. By Ginma, this guy is huge.
Killian took the proffered hand, his own enveloped in the Fellblood’s. “No need to apologize.” he muttered. “My fault.” He glanced around as the red giant spoke. “Yeah, I guess this isn’t the best place to stand.”
Killian moved further away from the doors as the other man introduced himself with a complicated name he didn’t quite catch. Killian nodded, then returned the favor. “Killian Glae.”
He looked at the many sparring partners spread out across the field at the Fellblood’s comment. There were quite a lot, and Killian could make out multiple fighting styles on display. He focused back on Das, raising an eyebrow. “What’s to figure out? There seems to be plenty of people you can talk to all over.”
Me, on the other hand… I think it’s time to leave.
What was I even thinking, coming here?

Das also looks around at the various sparring matches happening in the area. “Ah, yeah, there are plenty of people around to talk to, but I don’t want to interrupt their matches. It can be hard to get back into the groove of fighting if something pulls you out of it.” Then he looks at Killian again, and he wonders if the other man is also looking for entry into the guild. “From what I gather, there are several people trying to prove their worth to the guild in a sparring match. Makes sense. The Fighter’s Guild would want to see what someone’s made of before letting them in.”
His gaze turns back to the set of closed doors, and he takes in the simplicity of them. Maybe it is as simple as that. Looking back at Killian, Das takes stock of the man who seems to be a warrior himself. From what he can tell, Killian seems a bit unsure of what he's doing here, so Das simply just asks him. “What brings you here? Looking to get into the guild too? I wouldn’t mind seeing how I stand up against other prospective initiates if you’re willing.”

Killian looked at Das in surprise. “If you can’t ‘get back in the groove’ when you’re distracted during a fight, then perhaps that’s exactly what you need to practice at.” He paused for a moment, then cleared his throat awkwardly. “Uh, I didn’t mean you specifically… I just meant… fighters in general.”
Then the Fellblood asked him about the guild, and before Killian could deny the charge, he was being asked to spar.
“You want to fight?” Killian said, thrown off-guard by the unexpected offer. He looked the big fellow up and down, and smiled slightly. “I think you might have the advantage in a one-on-one…”
All the more reason to accept his offer. What better training?
Killian looked back over the field of sparring partners. There were a few empty areas they could set up in if they were going to fight… With a start, Killian realized he had already mentally accepted the giant’s proposal. He glanced at the other man out of the corner of his eye.
“Not sure about joining the guild, it was only a passing thought, but I wouldn’t say no to a bit of practice.” With that, Killian began walking to an area that seemed designed to resemble a mountainous terrain, complete with uneven footing and large rocks scattered about. There was even some crumbling steps of rock that rose several layers up.
Killian eyed the arena, making a note of all aspects of the terrain. Interesting. He reached the far end of the little area, which was maybe forty feet long, and turned to face his opponent. He tried desperately to remember the big guy’s name before he called out.
“Kardashian, right? This area look good for you?”
