"Wasps..." Beist grumbled, looking on from a distance, doing a very poor job of keeping himself hidden behind a large boulder. For anyone else, the boulder would be more than large enough to hide behind, but not for the giant beast man. Of all the things the Fey could have dropped on the road, it had to be wasps. Beist loved animals. He got along swell with them, and could even talk to a lot of them. Even the stranger, more monstrous animals in the world, he loved. He had several rather dangerous animals living in his house with him and often travelling on the road with him. Oozes, wyrms, elementals, insects. He had them. A griffon even pulled his wagon. But wasps. Ugh, wasps. He could never get along with wasps no matter how much he tried. Bees, sure. He had a big bee living in his garden and kept several beehouses to pollinate his plants. Wasps and bees were not the same despite similarities in their appearances. Bees are kind little fuzzballs that make honey and love flowers. Wasps are evil incarnate who want nothing more than to cause suffering. Beist let out a sad sigh as he watched the wasps swarming around his wagon, stopped in the middle of the road along with a few other wagons that had gotten caught up in the Fey prank. Several wasp nests lied on the ground around them, buzzing with the angry insects. The occupants of those wagons had run off, their horses breaking free of their harnesses to flee. Those wagons wouldn't be going anywhere for a while. But Beist had at least managed to avoid damages to his wagon by pulling Dora into a space pocket from her harness. Quest Name: Attack of the Killer Wasps Participants: Two or more Location: Moonglade, Marshflats, Kings' Valley Post Requirements: 5 posts per person, 200 words per post Reward: +1 Renown Description: People have been getting used to the presence of Fae in Charon. Many of the creatures have even begun to find places to call home. However the nature of the Fae remains the same, with many of them still pulling pranks and causing mischief. We are unsure of where it started or who began the trend, but pockets of Fae are now starting to release thousands of wasps into isolated areas, such as small villages or areas of high travel. Locals are being bombarded with the swarms of wasps, which is causing quite the disruption. We need brave adventurers to help locals survive the swarm and find a way to rid the area of the pesky creatures.

"Zeke, no!" Mimi cried out as her little gecko lunged for one of the large insects. She just managed to bat the buzzing thing away before Zeke could clamp his jaws around it. The insect was easily as big as Zeke's whole head.
In return for defending her scaly little friend, Mimi received a nasty sting on the back of her hand before the angry insect buzzed off.
"Argh! Now look what you've done," she grumbled as she scooped Zeke off the floor and placed him on top of her head. "Black and yellow stripes mean pain, not food. C'mon, you know that. I'm sure the wasps are just as bad here as they were in the desert... Wherever here is." she trailed off, marvelling again at how green and alive her surroundings were.
They continued on, keeping to a general direction with the help of the sun. Mimi absentmindedly rubbed the painful sting on her hand, wishing she knew the plants around here so she could find something that would ease the pain. As they walked, she spotted more and more of the striped insects flitting about. A couple of times she had to dodge one of them flying straight for her face. Luckily, Zeke no longer attempted to make one of the wasps his lunch. Maybe he felt bad for Mimi getting stung because of him. Or maybe he had dozed off in the pleasantly warm sun.
After fighting her way through some especially dense bushes, her hair getting caught and tangled in all manner of branches, Mimi stopped dead in her tracks. There was a whole swarm of the large wasps not 20 feet in front of her. They were buzzing angrily around several abandoned wagons piled up on a road. Apart from the insects, there was not a soul in sight. Both people and animals had fled from the wasps' assault.
Some of the insects flitted around her harmlessly the low buzz of their small insect wings creating a low hum. That was, until one of them got tangled in Mimi's mass of purple hair. Seeing an opportunity, the now awake Zeke lunged for the stuck wasp and bit off its head with a light crunch.
Almost immediately the buzz of the swarm shifted in pitch. The beating of tiny insectoid wings became high-pitched and angry. The dark mass of bodies started to reach toward her.
"Shit." Mimi bolted, scrambling along the side of the road at full speed, her feet almost tangling in unseen roots. She dashed around a huge boulder, trying not to lose speed, and ran headfirst into a large furry wall.

Beist was alerted by the sound of something scrambling behind him just as the swarm hovering around his wagon started to act strange. The wasps began to move, the cloud of black and yellow coming his way! He looked toward the scrambling noises just in time to see a small, green figure run into his leg.
"Ah! Hello, who are-" He started to greet them, but reconsidered as the buzzing grew louder, the swarm of wasps closing in on their location. "Never mind, it can wait!"
Beist ran away from the swarm, his large size giving him a long stride that made up for the old man's lack of speed. He still couldn't outpace the rapidly closing in swarm forever though, so he needed a plan.
With a quick motion, he retrieved a tiny pumpkin from his bag and threw it onto the grass ahead of him. It bounced once before settling on the ground, suddenly growing roots and planting itself. The tiny pumpkin swelled in size quickly, what once would have fit in the palm of an average person's hand suddenly ballooning into something large enough to comfortably contain the giant, a huge wooden door sprouting from its front along with a window on either side that were thankfully if not inexplicably paned with yellow-tinted glass.
Beist opened the door and went inside, slamming it shut once he and the Gremling were both safely inside. The wasps buzzed angrily outside the door, but weren't able to breach it. There was no gap beneath it or on its sides. However the door was attached, it didn't even seem to have any hinges, just folding on one edge as if it was some organic part of the plant.
The interior of the pumpkin house looked just the same as could be expected. Orange walls that looked like a hollowed out pumpkin, except the floor looked like normal dark wood with matching wooden furniture. A table with six chairs, and some beds against the back wall. It was actually quite cozy.
Beist let out a sigh of relief, but winced as he felt a few stings on his tail that had trailed behind him, a few wasps must have gotten to him before his could get inside the house and managed to get their stingers between the thick scales. The stings swelled up and reddened.
Beist lifted his tail into his hands, his palms glowing for a moment and the welts on his tail began to return to normal, the poison from the stingers removed. He let out another sigh as the pain faded.

Mimi blinked, her head spinning from the sudden flurry of events. One moment she was fleeing for her life, and the next she was standing inside a giant pumpkin. She rubbed her eyes, trying to process everything.
The light filtering through the yellow window panes bathed the interior of the pumpkin hut in a golden glow, creating a cozy atmosphere that contrasted sharply with the chaos outside. The wooden furniture looked inviting, and Mimi marvelled at the craftsmanship. She gingerly touched one of the chairs, half-expecting it to dissolve into seeds.
Her eyes then drifted to the huge, furry creature who had saved her. His appearance was unlike anything she had ever seen—a blend of fur and scales, with gentle eyes and a face mostly covered by a beard. As he lifted his tail into his hands, a soft glow emanated from his palms. Mimi watched in awe as the swelling and redness from the wasp stings faded away.
For a moment, she just stood there, absorbing the scene. The safety and tranquillity of the pumpkin hut felt surreal after the chaos outside. Her strange saviour was towering over her. The claws and horns and his sheer size should have been intimidating, but oddly she did not feel threatened at all. Instead she felt fascinated by the ease with which he had healed himself and how he had conjured this comfortable safe space out of thin air. She absentmindedly rubbed at the back of her hand, where the sting she had sustained earlier still throbbed.
Realising she had just been staring up at him awkwardly for way too long, she awkwardly cleared her throat and slid her eyes away from his face to rest somewhere around his upper arm instead. "Uhm.. thank you so much for saving us. Would've been in a real pickle if I hadn't run into you...", she trailed off not sure what else to say although her thanks sounded inadequate for the magnitude of help rendered. "Oh yeah. I'm Mimi by the way and this is Zeke", she said pointing at the still chewing leopard gecko perched on her head.
She hesitated, glancing at the creature's hands, still faintly glowing with residual magic. "That... what you did with your tail, that was amazing! Are you a healer? I've always wanted to be a healer. But, y'know... gremling and all that. No magic." Mimi stopped, horrified at the flood of words just pouring out of her mouth. Turning away, embarrassed, she tried to find something to distract from her awkwardness. The wasps were still buzzing around noisily outside the pumpkin and bumping against the yellow glass in the windows and were a much more pressing matter than her babbling. She nodded towards the angry insects. "So uhhh... what we gonna do about that?"

"Oh, no, it's alright." Beist answered, waving a hand. He was still a little out of breath from running away from the wasps, but he was fine now that he could take a moment in the comfort of the pumpkin cottage. He took a seat in one of the wooden chairs which was large enough for him. "Those wasps were already quite the bother before you arrived. It's a pleasure to meet you, Mimi and Zeka. My name is Beistmild, but please call me Beist." He answered with a friendly smile, a hand on his chest as he introduced himself. He was
"I don't know if I'd call myself a healer. I'm mostly an alchemist, though I do make healing potions and I know a few spells here and there. That was just a spell to remove poison. This is the first time I've actually used it though. I'm glad it worked on the wasp venom." He answered cheerily, glad the spell had been useful. He truly didn't know a whole lot of magic, even of the healing kinds, but he was practicing and had picked up a few minor spells that were useful to his daily life. He suddenly looked worried as his cheerful smile changed into a look of concern. "Oh, my apologies! Did you get stung? Would you like me to cast it on you?" He asked, holding out a hand to cast the offered spell through if Mimi took it.
He looked out the window as Mimi motioned to it, the cloud of wasps still buzzing angrily right outside. He pondered it for a moment, putting a finger to his chin.
"Hmmmm... Well, first... Let's keep that door shut..." He said, pointing to the front door that the wasps were clattering against outside.

Mimi blinked, still trying to process everything that had just happened. The giant pumpkin hut, the enormous furry creature named Beist, and the unexpected safety of this cozy space—all of it felt like a dream. Magic was something she knew existed but had only experienced very little of. Most of it had been simple feats or only observed from a distance. Witnessing such a grand display up close was entirely different. Her life in the desert had been harsh and devoid of kindness, and now, in this strange new place, she had stumbled upon someone who seemed genuinely friendly and incredibly talented.
"Uhm, really? That would be amazing," she said, extending her hand toward Beist. The sting on the back of her hand still throbbed painfully. As she waited, she marveled at the surreal situation. A giant pumpkin for a house? A massive furry healer? If she hadn't experienced it herself, she wouldn’t have believed it.
She glanced around the interior of the pumpkin hut again. The golden light filtering through the windows made the space feel even more magical. Something about Beist's demeanour made her feel relaxed and comfortable, although she had just met him. And yet, despite her awe and the strange comfort she felt, a small part of her remained cautious. Maybe this all was just too good to be true. Never before had she met anyone who would just rescue a stranger out of the kindness of their heart, much less a gremling. Could the old beast have any ulterior motives? Or maybe she had just been lucky that he, too, had been caught in the wasps' attack and her being rescued had just been happenstance. But she clearly remembered Beist waiting at the door until she had rushed inside before closing it, hadn’t she? And even if they were stuck in here for the time being, he had no reason to offer her healing, other than to be nice, right? Either way, she would just have to make the best of the situation. And if things got bad, she could always find an escape then. After all, running away was one of the few things she was good at.
Returning her attention to Beist, she was struck again just by how strange a creature he was. Her eyes wandered to Beist's massive form, taking in the details of his fur and scales. He was about four times her height, making him tower far over her even while he was sitting down. Her tiny hand in his massive one looked hilarious. Actually, she probably could fit in his hand entirely. This must be how Zeke felt when looking at her.
A thought struck her; if Beist was as generous and kind as he seemed then maybe, just maybe...
"You mentioned alchemy," she ventured, curiosity overcoming her shyness. "I’ve always been fascinated by it. I even tried to learn a bit on my own, but it’s... well, let’s just say I’m still very much a novice and it's really hard to only have a few old books as a teacher... Do you think maybe you could show me a few things while we’re stuck in here?"
She shifted nervously, feeling a mix of excitement and trepidation. "I know it’s a lot to ask, but any beginner tips or advice would be really helpful. I want to be able to help others, like you do!"
Mimi couldn't help but feel a flicker of hope. This could be the start of something wonderful, a chance to learn and grow. Despite her underlying fears, Beist’s comforting aura made her feel safer than she had in a long time. She hoped that, for once, things might actually go well.

Beist's hand completely eclipsed Mimi's as he put his gently placed it atop hers and let the spell remove the poison from her stings. The swollen red-tinged bump on the back of her hand started to return to normal quickly, the reason for the inflammation and pain suddenly gone. All that remained was a small pinprick that she could hardly feel. Something an actual healing spell or potion could fix, but even the weakest of would have been overkill on such a small wound.
"Of course, alchemy is quite fascinating, isn't it?" Beist answered cheerily, happy to see someone else with an interest in his passion. "I would be happy to teach you a little, but I'm afraid most of my equipment is in my wagon. I won't be able to show you much." He finished with a hint of disppointment, looking over toward the door, knowing his wagon was out beyond it back where they had run from. He didn't have all of his alchemical equipment with him, he kept most of it at home, but he did keep enough to make potions in what had once been his home and shop.
He looked back to Mimi, regaining his warm smile.
"This makes it a bit easier though, doesn't it? I couldn't do anything about this wasp swarm when it was so close to my wagon, but now we should be far enough away. I should have something to deal with them. Let me see here..."
Beist started digging through his bag, pulling out odds and ends and placing them on the table as he mumbled to himself. He pulled out a variety of potions of different colors, a jar of what looked like dirt and tulip blossoms, far too many raspberry candies than should have been able to fit in the bag, especially with everything else he'd already pulled out of it, a flask containing a lump of blue goo, and a small pouch of translucent, silky fabric. Inside, three shapes were visible, small things wrapped in paper.
"Oh, I forgot I had this." He chuckled to himself as he pulled out a crystal ball and placed it on the table too.

Mimi watched in awe as Beist's large hand gently rested atop hers, the magic working swiftly to remove the poison from the sting. The swelling and redness subsided, leaving only a faint pinprick. She flexed her fingers experimentally, barely feeling the spot where the sting had been.
"Wow, that feels so much better. Thank you!" she exclaimed, marveling at the ease with which he had healed her.
Her eyes widened with interest as Beist mentioned alchemy. "It really is! I've always thought it was so cool how you can mix things together and create something completely new." She listened intently as he explained his equipment was in the wagon and nodded understandingly. "Even if you can’t show me everything right now, I'd love to learn whatever you can teach me. Any bit of knowledge is more than I have now."
As Beist rummaged through his bag, Mimi's curiosity grew. She watched him pull out various items, each one more fascinating than the last, but her attention was caught by the crystal ball he placed on the table. Her eyes locked onto it, mesmerized by its shimmering surface. Mimi couldn't help but smile at his chuckle. "You have so many interesting things in there," she said, her eyes sparkling with curiosity.
"Is that a crystal ball?" she asked, her voice tinged with wonder. "What does it do?" She leaned closer, her shyness momentarily forgotten in her excitement. Her eyes locked onto the crystal ball he had placed on the table, wondering what other wonders he might reveal.

Beist stopped rummaging through his bag to look at Mimi and then the crystal ball.
"Oh, yes. It's a crystal ball. It just records what I see. I bought it to use it to record as I experimented to make new potions. It's important to write down measurements and make sure you can repeat your process when you have a result you actually like. But, I always ended up writing my notes down anyways, so I haven't gotten as much use out of the crystal ball as I thought I would." He answered as he picked it up and held it in the air. Once he took his hand away, the ball remained floating in the air as if it was weightless, drifting around Beist as he looked over what he'd already scattered over the table.
"Well, I do still use it to record some of my animal companions when they're doing something cute." He chuckled quietly to himself.
He picked up the small bag of wrapped chocolates off the table and looked at it, one hand trailing fingers through the hair on his chin.
"Perhaps one of these will do it. They're not exactly powerful enough to harm a person, but they should be enough for some wasps. Maybe if we use two of them together, to be safe." He pondered as he selected two of the chocolates. One wrapped in a white paper and the other in pale purple. The third he put back, wrapped in bright red.
"Here, pick one. They're magic. What do you think would taste better, a tornado or a blizzard?" Beist asked jokingly, holding the two chocolates out to Mimi.

Mimi watched in fascination as the crystal ball floated weightlessly around Beist, its gentle motion adding to the surreal atmosphere of the pumpkin hut. The idea of using it to record experiments intrigued her, though she found it amusing that Beist mostly used it to capture moments of his animal companions. His fondness for them was evident, and it resonated with her own love for creatures. She wished she could view those memories herself. They would surely be fascinating.
Her attention back to Beist and the chocolates he offered, but she didn't reach out to take one. Instead, she looked up at him with a mix of curiosity and caution. "So, these are magical too?" she asked, eyeing the brightly coloured wrappers. "What do they do? And, uh... what exactly is a blizzard...?"
She hesitated, her thoughts racing. Beist's nonchalant question about the flavours made her smile, but she quickly grew serious. "Wait, are these going to hurt the wasps? I don't want to harm them. They're just defending themselves, y'know? Maybe there's another way to deal with them."
Mimi's gaze shifted to the door, where the sound of the wasps buzzing outside was still audible. She remembered her clan using smoke to calm bees to steal their honey and wondered if it might work on wasps too. "What about using smoke, doesn't that calm insects? Could we use that to get them to leave without hurting them?"
She looked back at Beist, her eyes filled with hope. "Maybe we could make some kinda smoke bomb, or... or something that would drift out and encourage them to go away? I know it sounds a bit silly, but I just don't want to hurt them if we can avoid it."

"Yes, they're a lot like potions, but with the magic mixed into chocolates instead of a liquid." Beist nodded, taking the opportunity for a short impromptu lesson in alchemy. "Not every result of alchemy needs to be your standard old potion in a bottle."
"Well, this one makes a small tornado, and this one makes a small blizzard. That's, uhhh... It's when it's cold and there's a lot of snow and wind. A snowstorm, but stronger." He explained, a little surprised that Mimi didn't know what a blizzard was, but he supposed it wasn't common knowledge. She must be from somewhere that didn't get very cold, like Zeinav.
He was even more surprised by her unwillingness to hurt the wasps. Beist never liked hurting animals either, not even insects, but he was willing to make an exception when those insects were wasps. It looked like Mimi was an even gentler soul than he was if she didn't even want to harm the little incarnations of hatred.
"A smoke bomb might work, but I'm afraid I don't have any of those with me." He replied, looking at the table strewn with his possessions. Smoke bombs were fairly standard alchemical products, but he had never been interested in them. Smoke wouldn't do much to hide him. He wasn't exactly stealthy or one for sneak attacks. He really didn't have many potions that would be useful in combat at all other than healing potions. Well, except for an accidental bottle of dangerous poison he only carried around with him because he was too nervous about leaving it at home with all his animals.
"Hmm... If you control the temperature well enough, the cold doesn't necessarily have to kill them. Insects go dormant when they get too cold. We could run away while they're asleep from the cold, leave, and they should wake up once they've warmed up again." Beist offered as he put the tornado chocolate away and unwrapped the blizzard chocolate. "I'll just dilute it a little." He added as he broke the chocolate in half and pulled out a couple of bottles of clear liquid.
With practiced hands and makeshift tools, the two halves of the chocolate were roughly powdered and mixed into the two bottles, making the clear liquid a murky brown that swirled inside until it shifted into a light blue, the chocolate settling at the bottom and leaving the liquid transparent and clean and very slightly shimmering with the extracted magic.
"I don't think they'll taste very good anymore, but I believe the effects should be just enough to put the wasps to sleep without freezing them to death now." Beist said, holding one bottle in front of his eye, examining it. He chuckled. "I guess it did end up as your standard old potion in a bottle after all. Oh well."
He held one of the two bottles out for Mimi to take.

Mimi took the clear, light blue potion from Beist, examining it with a mix of curiosity and apprehension. The potion, though it looked unusual, seemed harmless enough. She wasn’t too concerned about its taste; she’d probably had worse. What really concerned her was the potion’s effect. She wasn’t entirely sure what a blizzard entailed, but she knew it involved cold. And cold could be quite uncomfortable without Beist’s fluffy fur to keep her warm.
“Here goes nothing,” she muttered, closing her eyes as she tipped the vial and drank its contents. The potion had a faintly sweet flavor, not unpleasant, with a subtle, metallic undertone. The clear liquid was smooth and cool as it slid down her throat.
As soon as she swallowed, she felt a peculiar sensation spreading through her body—a tingling feeling that seemed to infuse her with energy. It was as if a cold wave was crashing over her, yet it didn’t chill her but rather invigorated her. Her fingertips buzzed with the newfound energy, and she felt a surge of potential, as if she could channel a powerful force if she knew how.
Nervously, Mimi looked up at Beist, awaiting his guidance as she adjusted to the strange but empowering effect of the potion.

With Mimi drinking the other one, Beist tipped his own half of the split potion back and drank it. He quickly scooped all of his belongings back into his bag from the table as he let the cold settle over him and felt the magic the potion put at his disposal. With how many wasps were swarming out there, he figured it would be safer to spread the area out to make sure all of the wasps were caught in it and then book it before the wasps woke up.
"Alright, that should do it. Now to just let the potion start working. Can you feel the power of the potion? Have you ever cast a spell before? In this case, with the potion, you don't have to have learned it or construct any formulae, you just have to sort of... let it go?" He said with a shrug. He wasn't really a magic expert, and he doubted he could teach anyone spellcasting even without a bunch of angry insects clattering against the window.
A demonstration was probably the best he could do. He let the cold flow out from him, and the inside of the pumpkin cottage immediately felt chilly and continued to drop in temperature until it was like they were standing inside an icebox. Condensation began to collect on the outside of the window panes and a bit of frost appeared on some of the furniture inside.
"I'm going to open the door. Do you have all your belongings? Be ready to get out once all of the wasps have come in and fallen asleep. Maybe hide behind something?" He said, looking to Mimi.

Mimi shivered as the temperature inside the pumpkin cottage plummeted, the cold seeping into her bones. This chill was more intense than even the most frigid desert night she had ever experienced. She quickly tucked Zeke into the warmest spot she could find within her clothing, hoping to keep the little gecko safe from the sudden drop in temperature.
Clutching the empty vial, she could feel the energy from the potion coalescing within her, like a reservoir of potential just waiting to be unleashed. Beist’s instructions played over in her mind: just let the potion do the work. Though she had never cast a spell before, she felt a strange confidence, as if the magic itself was guiding her.
She nodded at Beist’s question about her belongings, then took a deep breath, steadying herself. “I’ve never cast a spell before, no. But... I think I understand. Just let the potion do the work.”
As Beist moved toward the door, Mimi found a spot behind a sturdy-looking table, crouching low and peeking out just enough to watch the door. Her heart pounded with a mix of fear and excitement, the buzzing of the wasps outside growing louder as Beist prepared to open the door.
She clenched her hands into fists, focusing on the tingling energy within her. It felt strange, alien, but also exhilarating. She had always been curious about magic, and now she was about to experience it firsthand. Mimi took another deep breath, trying to calm her nerves. "Alright, I'm ready," she whispered, more to herself than to Beist, though she hoped he heard her. "Let’s do this."
When the door swung open, a wave of warm air rushed in, starkly contrasting with the chill inside. Mimi watched as the first few wasps buzzed into the room, immediately slowing and falling dormant as the cold air enveloped them. Seeing her chance, she steeled herself and focused on the magic within, ready to channel it outward.
Gathering her courage, she darted from behind the table and rushed toward the door. As she stepped outside, she felt the potion’s energy surge, guiding her movements. She extended her hands and released the cold, sending a wave of frost toward the swarming wasps. The air around her crackled with the sudden drop in temperature, and the insects began to fall, their movements slowing as the cold magic took hold.
With the immediate threat neutralized, Mimi turned on her heel and started to run, adrenaline propelling her away from the cottage and the now-dormant swarm. As she ran, she glanced over her shoulder, hoping to see that Beist had also safely escaped.

Beist ducked behind the door as he swung it open, the Wasps flew in, quickly slowing and then dropping out of the air to the floor of the pumpkin cottage. As soon as the cloud of black and yellow had stopped flowing through the doorway, he walked out of the cottage to follow behind Mimi. He tried to step on as few of the fallen wasps as he could while he went, not wanting a stinger in the bottom of his foot and also trying not to kill the things.
Outside, there were even more wasps littering the ground that he tried to avoid, though they weren't as grouped together as the ones in the doorway had been, having to enter the bottleneck to get into the cottage. He left said pumpkin cottage behind as he ran to catch up with Mimi. It would be fine. The whole thing would start to rot and then disappear in a day anyways, including all of the furniture within.
The sheer cold spreading from Mimi and Beist was enough to put any remaining wasps on the way to Beist's wagon to sleep. That should last long enough for them to get far, far away from here. And without a target, the wasps should hopefully disperse. Beist wasn't even completely sure if those wasps were native to this area. Who knew where that Fae had gotten them? What if they were invasive? Maybe they should have killed them, but it was too late for that now.
"Let's get out of here!" Beist said as he tapped a charm on his neck and a griffon appeared in front of his wagon. He wasted no time strapping the harness up while the griffon looked around as if it was expecting danger. It only took a few minutes and then the wagon was moving at a hurried pace, putting as much distance as possible between them and the wasps before they woke up from their cold sleep.
"Well, I think that went well." Beist said as he looked back down the path behind them from the seat at the front of the wagon. He didn't see any wasps chasing after them, so it looked like their plan had worked.
