"I'm more than happy to tell you what I know. Admittedly I do not know the man terribly well, but plenty of bards in the capitol have sung his praises."
Someone with such a glowing reputation as Leandros is no doubt an asset the Crown would want to continue to gain popularity. His involvement in the Knights of Duros, the WEF, and other guilds only makes the monarchy look better given Leandros' family lineage and dedication to the security of Capitol Landing. All that's true, for now at least.
Everett is a bit uneasy about how far that favoritism will actually go. Leandros might be a good person with strong morals, but that doesn't mean he's the kind of champion of the people the Crown really wants in the long run. Should the knight start to spread his own propaganda and become more of a threat to the Crown, the fallout from that could be significant.
He'd have to choose a side in that situation, wouldn't he? He's technically one of the founding members of Leadnros' new guild, much to his own surprise. If he and Leandros were more familiar with one another, if they had an actual friendship, then maybe that would make such a decision easier. But for as much as he respects Leandros, he can see a reality where the man becomes someone willing to rally the people against the Crown. Someone who is seen as a hero turned into an excuse for radicals to leverage into justifying their crimes and violence against the monarchy. That's something he just can't support. For all the Crown may do wrong, causing a war or disrupting order with violence is not the answer.
If that does end up happening...well, hopefully Leandros will still be willing to listen to reason. For now, he'll support the man and keep an eye on things from the inside. It's the least he can do.
Everett leads Das and the others over to a small rowboat which they take out to the Lightning's Edge which is anchored offshore. He's careful to keep an eye out for anymore Red Riders or their ships just in case they decide to chase Das down, but it seems luck is on their side as they have no issues getting on board and setting out for the capitol. If their luck holds, they should arrive within the next few days just as the festival starts in earnest.
