"Yeah, it was pretty crazy. I don't think I got poisoned, I didn't drink anything. We just all saw Scern touch the stone and then we were all fighting Ziev somewhere else." Wolfe replied with a slight shrug. That was pretty much the whole story. "I never really followed any of the gods, so I guess finding out they were dead didn't hurt much. A friend of mine did take it pretty hard though."
Astrid had been very hurt when she found out Avasha was dead. She'd really worshipped Avasha. She even felt like her powers over lightning had come from the god, so finding out all of that had been a lie had been devastating. She had been there too, fighting Ziev. She looked different in there though. Actually, now they thought about it, Blue had also looked pretty different. At least their armor did anyways. They'd seen a lot of people there, but they didn't remember seeing anyone that looked like Gwendolyn.
"Yeah, I didn't see you there. I think I would have remembered seeing someone so pretty. What kind of training were you doing?" They asked politely before putting the final bite of cuail in their mouth and a server stepped forward to whisk away their plates to make space for the dessert course.

So it was true then. The gods were in fact dead after all. It left many things unexplained. Gwendolyn herself was a relatively devout Avashalyte, and the thought of worshipping dead gods bothered her. But that was not what was unexplained. He thought she was pretty
"I see, I offer your friend my condolences. You all must have gone through so much." She says, an attempt at genuine concern and empathy. Thomas swept her plate away with more of a solemn expression having overheard all this gods talk. She didn't know he was devout... was this stuff they should be talking about in front of servants? They deserved to know the truth right? "My training, right." It was a euphemism that she had hoped wouldn't be expanded upon, but here they were. This guy was an expert conversationalist, to be expected of a god-killer. "It was... training with my maul, Enlightened Redolence. It's quite the difficult weapon to master, and even still I consider myself a novice with it." Half-truths... Noblewoman's weapon #9... She didn't like using them. Even people in this very room knew not what kind of training she had been doing. More like a ritual, that she had to be blindfolded for to even attend. The maul was only her medium through which it would take place. She had taken a peek... and paid the price. Vision, for a glimpse at Alvina. It was a ritual with the families local deity to grant members their ability to control magic with no prior knowledge. A pact of sorts. The only rule was not to look. Millicent had been there, completed the ritual, and had gained magic at only the cost of her eyes losing color. Millie side-eyed her even now for coming close to speaking of the profaned ritual. "But enough of that." She took a fork and carved a piece of cake. "I tell you, I was quite worried that noone would have arrived for the feast. I must thank you, Wolfe, for making this quite the enjoyable experience. Happy Hearth Day, and if it were up to me, we should do this again sometime." She lifted the cake as though it were a glass of champagne to toast. He was quite the charming man, she could see a future with him. Would have to do something about the blue hair though.

"A maul? That's really cool! I've never fought with a maul before. I don't really use any weapons. I like to fight bare handed. You must be really strong to use a maul. Mauls are super heavy, aren't they?" Wolfe replied with excitement and curiosity. They'd heard of mauls from Astrid. Mauls were basically just really big hammers. They were too big and heavy to hold in one hand. If it was difficult to master like Gwendolyn was saying, she must be training hard. Blue needed to do some more training themself to become better at fighting with their bare hands.
Why was she holding a piece of cake in the air like that? Was she offering it to them? Maybe because she noticed they'd already finished their own slice of cake? But she was so far away and didn't look like she was going to get up. Did she expect them to get up and walk over there for her? Well, alright.
Wolfe stood up, gently pushing their chair back behind them and walked around the table, over to Gwendolyn. They bent down and gently bit the bit of cake off her fork. As they bent down close to her, the pleasant scent of raspberries wafted through the air and through her oiled veil along with a slight feeling of static that tingled and made her hair rise just a little. They then stood up straight again and looked down at her with a charming smile that showed their enlarged canine teeth.
"Yeah, I really enjoyed it too. I'd love to come again!"
They casually turned and walked away, escorted by the maid back to the parlor to change. They gave a little wave goodbye before exiting the room, their smile as wide as ever.
