Nyr
Wandering Frost
Wandering Frost
Gender - Male
Age - 17
Race - Half-Drow, Tiefling-adjacent
Nationality - Frost Gale
Appearance -
Nyr’s appearance can be neatly described by the colors grey and blue. His skin is pale and a dull sort of greyish color, contrasting sharply with his long, midnight blue hair and the curling black horns that curve up from his head. His eyes, likewise, are dark with a hint of blue in them in the proper lighting. He stands at about 5’7”, with very little muscle on his frame. There’s a hint of his elven heritage in his fine face, although his status as a tiefling is much more readily apparent. If he has a tail, it is never visible.
He gives off the appearance of the scholarly type, not a fighter. Usually dressed in shades of blue, white, and black, his clothes don’t seem warm enough for someone hailing from the far north. Nyr can almost always be found with a book in his hands, much preferring to occupy his time with learning than anything else.

Personality -
On the surface, Nyr is generally a jovial boy. He never seems to take much of anything seriously and will crack jokes that are often less than appropriate. But his joking personality in truth covers up his deeply rooted self-doubt and worry for the future. He can be a touch paranoid at times and self-deprecating. His greatest desire is to find a use for himself out in the wider world of Charon.

History -
Nyr, born under a different name, is the only son of a drow warlock named Dainn. Nyr was raised by his father alone in the far northern reaches of the Frost Gale, with only his father’s undead thralls to keep him company and care for him.
Dainn had, in truth, never been a very attentive father. Though he provided all that Nyr needed to grow up healthy and safe, he often left his son in the hands of undead servants rather than care for the boy himself. Even Nyr’s tutoring was taken care of by ghosts bound to his father’s will. So Nyr led a quiet, but lonely childhood. It was only when he began to reach his teenage years that Dainn took an interest in his child.
That was when his father introduced Nyr to Gremory.
Gremory, a demon of ash and blackened ice, who willingly loaned her powers to Dainn in return for his everlasting loyalty. As cold and cruel as winter, she had long been banished from the world of mortals by the Gods themselves for her impertinence. But with the Gods long since vanished from Charon, she had been slowly seeking to return to the world of Mortals once more. In search of a way to release herself from her banishment, she made contact with a young Drow who sought power to take all that he had ever desired for himself. Power she could grant him. Their relationship was mutually beneficial, but Gremory had limitations she could not break, no matter what she or Dainn tried to do.
At first, Nyr could not understand why he had ever been introduced to his father’s patron. Why he had to visit her year after year.
Then, on the night of his 18th birthday, he found out why.
Horrified by the truth, Nyr escaped his father’s domain and Gremory’s clutches. For the past year, he has run from them both, traveling away from the frozen reaches of his childhood home to civilization at last. He now hopes to hide among the people of Charon, a task he has thus far been successful with.

NPCs -
Dainn Kaldr - Nyr’s father, a Drow Noble cast out from his family. He made a contract with the demon Gremory for power years before Nyr was born. He resides in a frozen manor hidden in the northernmost reaches of Frost Gale.
Gremory - A demon banished from the mortal plane before the Gods left Charon. She seeks a way to free herself from her banishment.
Nafr - The ghost of a dwarven scholar, bound to Dainn’s service with Gremory’s power. He was a kind soul, who serves Dainn as a valuable source of arcane knowledge. He was once Nyr’s tutor, and helped the boy escape after his 18th birthday. Nyr is unsure of what became of Nafr after.
