Akari
The Moon's Scourge
Gender - Male
Age - 22
Race - Aasimar…?
Nationality - Crescent Isle
Appearance -
Not overly tall, nor at first glance very striking. Akari stands at about 5’7” with nearly translucent pale skin, cropped white hair, and deep black eyes. The most striking thing upon first glance about him are the almost metallic purple-blue markings on his face and what little skin he’s left exposed.
However, studying him for a prolonged amount of time would reveal some more.. Unusual features.
Though it’s impossible to see in daylight, at night, his skin seems to almost glow with its own soft, barely there light. His high cheekbones are speckled with shimmering freckles which are imperceptible in bright lights.
Akari’s clothes are neat and tidy, made in pale shades of blue, purple, and white with pink accents and motifs of lotus flowers subtly decorating them. His hands, meanwhile, are always covered by smooth black gloves that disappear under his loose sleeves.

Personality -
Calm and quiet, almost severe in his demeanor. Akari is often taken as a stoic man. He is often mistaken as being quite rude due to the way he often ignores or says nothing in conversation, but the truth is, he’s simply unable to speak. Though he does know sign language, between Akari and his sister, he was always the shyer twin to begin with… He takes everything is does quite seriously and strives to always be in control of himself, no matter the circumstances.

History -
Akari and his twin sister, Hizuki, were found on the night of a full moon by the banks of a tranquil lake, sleeping peacefully together as they held hands. The Moon Elves who found them were quite confused as to what two infants were doing alone in the wilderness, but searching for their parents, or even their origins, proved fruitless. So, their village took the children in, raising them communally as if they had always been a part of their lives.
Hizuki was known as a bright, thoughtful child, who danced through life bringing smiles to the faces of those around her. Meanwhile her brother was known to be shy but always gentle, never raising a hand against anyone or anything. Though the way they came into their home village was strange, they were a welcome and beloved addition. Their earliest years were nothing short of idyllic in that small forest village.
It wasn’t until the children began to grow older that things began to change. It started with Hizuki, bright, lovable Hizuki who began to have strange dreams that only grew more intense with every cycle of the full moon. She dreamt of their village, the people around them, and more importantly, of their futures. At first, these dreams were taken as nothing more than the fantasies of a child, but as her dreams began to become more and more startlingly accurate, the adults around the pair grew concerned.
Then there was quiet Akari, who would never willingly hurt another living being, and yet, as time went on, displayed a strange affinity for the dark places around them. Who seemed to bend shadow and moonlight to his whims without any explanation. And to potentially deadly effect.
Neither sibling could explain their strange gifts. Nor could the villagers find any explanation in their records or in local legend. Still, they had raised these two children diligently, and would not throw them out just because they were strange.
Though maybe they should have.
Akari and Hizuki’s small world was turned upside down when one night Hizuki awoke after dreaming of strangely dressed figures coming to their small village. The dream, unlike her usual ones, was confusing and fraught with a sense of danger she couldn’t quite interpret. She tried to warn her brother first, who believed her in an instant, but the villagers were harder to convince of a danger she could barely even describe to them.
What happened next, Akari himself hardly remembers. He remembers the figures coming to their village, looking for a pair of twins. He remembers.. Raised voices. A conflict of some kind. He remembers clinging onto Hizuki’s hand even as she was pulled away from him. He remembers screaming for the very first time.
And then he remembers waking up again on the shoreline of that lake he had been first found beside, the spot by his side where Hizuki always resided cold and empty. Pain shot through every inch of his body as he pulled himself up, and despair welled as he realized his quiet home was likely no more. It welled even further as he realized with great despair he’d lost his only family in the entire world…
Then a flower, with gentle, pale purple petals and oddly black stem, blooming on the edge of the grass and waters, caught his eyes. For reasons he could not explain, he felt drawn to it. Taking the plant he ate it and gasped silently at the onslaught of pain it brought with it. Then, he cried with relief.
He could hear her voice, Hizuki’s voice, from beyond this realm and in another. She whispered in his ear like she was once again next to him. She knew not where she was, but she could see him, and she could freely see the branching paths of fate before him. The flower he had ingested was a poison that scorched his throat and wracked his body with pain, but it would allow him to hear her whispers from beyond the veil. And with her guidance, maybe, just maybe…
Maybe he could find out what happened to both of them.
