CYRAN'S NOTES
[Description: Cyran keeps his thoughts in Rowan's old journal, a large tome bound by dark leather and a broken lock. The inside is filled with her old notes on demonology and necromancy, which grow more frantic and incoherent until eventually coming until an abrupt end. The journal is only half-filled with her own notes. Cyran habitually fills the rest with his own thoughts on his travels.]
THREADS
Not long before Cyran fell into his current line of work as an assassin, he found himself wandering Moonveil Forest in the middle of the evening, lost and looking for a place to sleep. It was here that he met Caedes Oleander- or, perhaps it would be more accurate to say Caedes met him. As the assassin helped Cyran gather his bearings and led him to Moonveil Village to find shelter for the night, the two engaged in amicable conversation.
[CYRAN'S NOTES: Caedes is a bit strange, but I won't forget what he did to help me. Perhaps he doesn't remember our brief encounter, but I hope one day we can meet again soon so I can repay the small kindness he leant me.]
ON THE HUNT (COMPLETE)
Just as Cyran was starting out as a bounty hunter, he found himself returning to Moonveil Forest after some bandits that had been stirring up trouble. As he was setting up camp for the evening, he met a young girl who approached him in search for the food. The girl- Xyla- had a rudimentary understanding of the common tongue, and seemed to be more reptilian than elven, but she helped give Cyran directions to the bandits he was looking for.
[CYRAN'S NOTES: There is a map scribbled in a blank page, a near-perfect copy of the crude map Xyla had drawn for Cyran in the dirt. Below it are two stick-figures with pointed ears, one sporting a tail.]
HUNGRY HUNGRY HUNTER (CAMPFIRE STORY)(COMPLETE)
In the Shadewood Forest, Cyran was minding his own business when he came across a creature in the woods unlike any he'd ever seen before. Perhaps the creature, an Enderian named Blank, would have been friendly, but Cyran hid himself before he could find out. Blank lost her mind from the hunger, and the two engaged in a deadly game of cat and mouse. The fight for his life was brutal, but Cyran managed to escape with minor wounds, and Blank came back to her senses.
[CYRAN'S NOTES: It was pure luck I managed to escape with my own life. I don't think the creature remembers me, which is all just as well. While I do not begrudge her what she did while she was out of her mind, I do not hope we meet again.]
I FISHED FISHERMEN TO FISH MORE FISH (COMPLETE)(RENOWN)
Cyran was flagged down by two adventurers, Heian and Gerhart, to join them in a hunt for some local fishermen that had gone missing after a nasty storm. Cyran agreed, and joined them in Heian's ship, Bastion Remnant. Along with a guide that was probably more than a little insane, and a strange crew of Enderian, the three were soon caught in a storm of their own, and were quickly thrown off course...
[CYRAN'S NOTES: I wonder when would be a good time to mention I don't know how to swim...]
FINALLY AT THE FISHING SPOT (COMPLETE)(RENOWN)
Finally having made it past the storm, the Bastion Remnant and the three adventurers found themselves in unknown territory. With the ship in need of repairs, and the fishermen still in need of help, Cyran and the others continued on the search until they managed to find the ship partially wrecked on an island, being attacked by harpies.
[CYRAN'S NOTES: Heian gave me a crossbow, but I'm not entirely certain on how to use one. I guess I'd better learn fast.]
LUNACY (COMPLETE)
On the way to the Black Harvest Ball, Cyran was staying with a group of campers in Stargazer's field when he overheard Shaa speaking with a guard about a werewolf supposedly terrorizing a nearby village, one who was supposedly Shaa's friend, a recently-turned lycanthrope, Edward. Under the light of the blood moon, the two set off to the village to find him and protect him from the vicious hunters chasing after him.
[CYRAN'S NOTES: I don't think I ever want to set foot in a church again after what I just witnessed... nevertheless, Shaa is undoubtedly a good friend and a loyal ally to have in battle. I interacted little with Edward himself, but even in his wolf form, he was too scared to hurt anyone. I was happy to help both of them, but I do wish people would stop stabbing me in the shoulder.]
THE BANDITS ARE BACK... AND IT'S PERSONAL (COMPLETE)(RENOWN)
The morning after the events of Lunacy, Cyran and Shaa trudged back to their camp at Stargazer's field, dead-exhausted, bedraggled, and covered in blood. Before they could find the sleep they so desperately desired, they were accosted by bandits claiming to be part of a mysterious organization named "The Clasp". The two quickly took care of the bandits, but not before learning that their camp had been raised by the Clasp. Cyran left one alive, and they decided to follow the man back to his camp and figure out what the Clasp were up to.
[CYRAN'S NOTES: My pouch was stolen during this adventure. Note to self: invest in a more secure belt, or keep a better eye on your belongings.]
THE ROAD TO NOWHERE (COMPLETE)(RENOWN)
Cyran and Shaa followed the remaining bandit back to their camp, an abandoned observatory that the Clasp had taken over. The two decided it would be best to split up, with Cyran sneaking in and obtaining the information, while Shaa kept the guards distracted long enough for Cyran to get in, find out the leader's name, and get out.
[CYRAN'S NOTES: ... Shaa.]
THE DEVIL IN DISGUISE (COMPLETE)
Looking for a break from the activity at the Black Harvest Ball, Cyran found himself in a small seating area, where he met Vakker and Zarius for the first time. The three found themselves in a conversation where each tried to glean more information from the others without giving away too much about themselves.
[CYRAN'S NOTES: I promised both Zarius and Vakker help in the future in exchange for a good conversation. While I cannot entirely call either of them good people, they seem to be mostly trustworthy, and I enjoyed the time I spent with them. I didn't especially appreciate Vakker trapping me in ice, but I supposed I deserved it for playing the game so blatantly. Oh, well. Politics have never been my strong suit. As for my opinion on both men, while they revealed little, I saw glimpses of honesty that made me grow to enjoy their company.]
THE MOST DANGEROUS GAME (COMPLETE)
At the Black Harvest Ball, Cyran found himself involved in a game with a group of bored partygoers, a deadly game of truth or dare, where the stakes grew higher and more humiliating with each round.
[CYRAN'S NOTES: ... I never want to play this game again as long as I live.]
INVASION OF THE BOOTY SNATCHERS (COMPLETE)
Cyran's relaxation in Sol City was cut short by a sudden theft. In his chase after the cutpurse, he ran into Vi'ira Fenpeiros, an elven smuggler that he had briefly met at the Black Harvest Ball. The two made an agreement to help one another find the thief and recover their lost items, including what belonged to their lost loved ones. The two were led on a chase across the city, where they eventually fought a bandit armed with their own stolen weapons.
[CYRAN'S NOTES: Vi'ira is the most spirited girl I have ever met, and strong for someone who has been through so much. She is the first person I have ever told about my daughter... my Marlow. I promised her mother I would take care of her, and I may not be able to live up to that vow, but I will damn well try.]
VAST AMOUNTS OF WASTE (COMPLETE)(SOL STONE CH. 1)
Cyran tagged along with Vi'ira to track down the Sol Stone, an ancient relic of the gods that was long thought to be a myth, until a shady merchant gave them directions to the artifact's supposed hiding place in the Dragon's Cradle. Cyran tagged along with her, and two artificial constructs, to traverse the mountain and find the Sol Stone.
[CYRAN'S NOTES: I don't really care about the Sol Stone myself, but Vi'ira certainly seems interested. I will tag along, though, just to make sure she's alright, and to keep my eye on the others. Absolute power like the Sol Stone was not meant to be cultivated by mortals. I do wonder what that merchant meant by 'crawling critters'...]
[CYRAN'S NOTES, CONTINUED IN A SHAKIER HAND JUST BELOW THE FIRST STATEMENT: Oh gods, it was goblins.]
HOUSE OF THE RISING SUN (ON HIATUS)(SOL STONE CH. 2)
Cyran, Vi'ira, and Socket set off, following they clue they'd found in Dragon's Cradle all the way to the Arid Mesa. Upon their arrival, the three found that a handful of cultists was already lying in wait for them, along with a mysterious fourth man hiding in the shadows that seemed to be an ally... for now. If the group of four wanted to find their way into the building, they'd need to fight their way through manic cultists and devils, all to reach the door at the very end...
WASH YOUR TROUBLES AWAY (COMPLETE)
At the hot springs in Frostgale, Cyran encountered familiar faces- some he'd seen recently, and some old acquaintances. While Cyran and Caedes attempted to catch up, Vakker and Veliky were more interested in one-upping each other in a game of relationship chicken.
[CYRAN'S NOTES: I'm not sure what Vakker means to accomplish by toying with me after what I said at the Black Harvest Ball, but he's been awfully clingy, acting like some lovestruck suitor for Veliky's sake. I really need to stop playing into this farce, but I will admit, it feels nice to get a meal and drinks out of it...]
IT'S ALL FUN AND GAMES UNTIL YOU GET CAUGHT (COMPLETE)
During a visit to Sol City, Cyran found himself on the receiving end of yet another pickpocketing attempt from a young street urchin, Iryla. During their confrontation, in which Cyran attempted to chase away the crowd, Zarius came upon them, and the three convened at Cyran's inn for a private conversation, though not all entirely willingly. As Cyran and Zarius caught up, Cyran attempted to gain the trust of the girl, at the very least, to make sure that she was bathed and fed. During their conversation, a group of thugs from outside the Dancer's Den seemed to recognize Zarius as an important figure in the city, and decided to take their revenge by ambushing the group, but their first mistake was trying to provoke a trio of criminals.
[CYRAN'S NOTES: After this encounter, I feel I have a better judge of Zarius's character. He is shrewd, and a product of his environment. Although he has a cold and calculating exterior, I've seen glimpses of kindness in him. Besides, I could stand to learn how to guard myself and be more mindful of my surroundings like him. Iryla, on the other hand, does not seem to trust me, and probably thinks me a naive fool. But I cannot, in good conscience, allow her to stay on the streets when I have a perfectly good inn for her to stay in. Perhaps I should look into getting a place of my own...]
BURIED WITH YOU (COMPLETE)(RENOWN)
Cyran, along with his new apprentice, was asked by Zarius to join an expedition to search a lost city under the Sand Sea Pyramids for items relating to the occult. With only two hours on the clock before sunrise, and a chance of another earthquake triggering any second, the two set off looking for anything of interest. Their investigation of the ruins was cut short by an ambush from a hoard of dragonkin that must have been living in the city for centuries before the earthquake. The two managed to make their escape with an artifact that would surely pique the interest of their client, they accidentally unleashed a wyvern on the ancient city, and were forced to make a hasty retreat.
[CYRAN'S NOTES: I am glad that Zarius invited me to assist him- while our relationship may be one of business associates, I do consider him a friend, even if he does not. ]
[CYRAN'S NOTES: There is a scribbled message at the bottom of a page in elvish describing a mural depicting a dragon that looks like it was cut off midway.]
A NIGHT OF HAUNTS AND FRIGHTS (ONGOING)(RENOWN)
Cyran and Vi'ira were relaxing and catching up when a woman tearfully approached them, asking for help with a specter in the woods. The two, unfortunately, were already quite drunk as they set off for the Hauntwoods in search of the specter.
[CYRAN'S NOTES: The scribblings here are utterly incoherent and illegible.]
WEATHERING THE STORM (COMPLETE)(RENOWN)
Cyran, Oriole, and a new knightly friend, who introduced themselves as Wolfe, were hired to guide a group of travelers on a mysterious job through Dragon's Cradle all the way to Frostgale. The promise of money guided Cyran and Oriole, though Wolfe just seemed to be along for the ride. The journey across the country would be long and perilous, but at least the company was good. During the adventure, Cyran and Wolfe navigated a perilous lightning storm, in which they navigated horrifying monsters, perilous terrain, and a pushy caravan leader, all while trying to protect their cargo from harm.
[CYRAN'S NOTES: The sentiment may sound childish, but it is fun to get to travel with a knight. I can almost pretend like I'm a noble hero, as well. It may not be real, but it's nice to play pretend every once in a while.]
BURNING MAN (RENOWN)(COMPLETE)
On a mission in Mount Drakolt, Cyran ran into a familiar face- Gerhart Stanislav- and the two found that they were looking for the same missing researcher, though for different reasons. The two decided to search for the researcher together, only to discover that their missing mark was being hunted by a basilisk while researching the properties of volcanic Woolful fur.
[CYRAN'S NOTES: I have never fought a basilisk before, but there's a first time for everything, I suppose.]
A DOOR OPENS (ON HIATUS)
After finishing a job in Darkveil, Cyran visited a tea shop to unwind, only to find that the shop was full. He sat down at a table at random, where he met Tellan Eleint, a woman with a nervous disposition and an unnerving gaze. The two engaged in what was possibly one of the most awkward conversations Cyran has ever experienced.
[CYRAN'S NOTES: Maybe she's just anxious?]
ALL THE WORLD'S A PARTY (ON HIATUS)
While spending time together during Cyran's stay in Darkveil, Iryla spotted a visiting noble from Sol City in the tavern of the Dancer's Den. Both curious to learn what business could have brought him here, the two decided to go undercover as nobles to a party he was attending while in town. Disguised as Illias and Morwen Mellora, father and daughter, the two set off for the party hosted by the Beli family, where their cover would be put to the test while they searched for their target.
[CYRAN'S NOTES: I'd like to adopt Iryla, if she'd let me.]
A WELCOME SURPRISE (COMPLETE)
Just after the opening of Shade's Valley Orphanage, Astrid and Blue Raspberry visited with a convenient gaggle of orphans they met during their ghost hunting adventure to drop them off. But where did the ghost come from, and where did Blue Raspberry get all of that stuff from?
[CYRAN'S NOTES: ... I am so confused.]
WHAT IS THIS WHITE BULLSHIT ON THE GROUND? (RENOWN)(COMPLETE)
During a visit to Frostgale, Cyran encountered another Moon elf from the Crescent Isles- Cirice Lunestra, a follower of Lunala. Much to their surprise, the two learned they had more than a few common connections- namely,Cyran's own daughter Iryla, Cirice's self-proclaimed best friend. Looking for ways to make money, Cirice volunteered her services to a handful of angry, desperate merchants to save a lost shipment, and Cyran decided to follow along, worried about the heppy-go-lucky girl and what kind of trouble she would get herself into. And so, the two moon elves, neither of whom had never seen snow a day in their life, set out to save merchants in the middle of a blizzard...
OLD BLOOD, NEW BLOOD (RED ROGUE CH. 1)(COMPLETE)
This Winter's Night, a mysterious employer hired the Specter to rob a shipment of wine to Madam Seriko, a wealthy inn owner in Starlight City. The assassin broke into the warehouse in the dead of night, intending to make away with crates of expensive alcohol for his employer to redistribute back to the common folk of Moonglade. What Cyran hadn't anticipated was the burly, yokai bodyguard that Madam Seriko's business partner hired, nor did he have any idea exactly who he was really stealing from. It was during this heist that Cyran met Seiya, the bodyguard protecting the goods with determination and strength Cyran had never known. During their fight, he learned that Seiya was only protecting the goods to afford holiday gifts for his mother, and left the young man behind with the promise of payment and a scar, and only an address to navigate by.
RED BLOOD, BLUE BLOOD (RED ROGUE CH. 2)(COMPLETE)
Confused, Seiya made his way to the address Cyran had given for his hideout, only for Cyran to make good on his promise of patching him up, giving him money for his mother, and deliver that spar. Unbeknownst to either of them, Marlow Fenastra had learned from her mistakes- determined to destroy that thief's hideout, she sent mercenaries to follow Seiya, leaving the two to protect Cyran's hideout and the stolen shipments of wine.
LIKE FATHER, LIKE SON, LIKE DAUGHTER (RED ROGUE CH. 3)(COMPLETE)
Cyran and Seiya were on the run. Their hideout compromised, and Seiya injured, there was nothing they could do but go on the run. But the deadline for Cyran's delivery of the goods was rapidly approaching, and Marlow Fenastra's bloodhound was after them. The walls were closing in, and it was time for the Red Rogues to finish the job that Cyran had started, the nasty work he'd wanted to keep Seiya far away from.
TWO QUIET GUYS VERSUS THE SINISTER SIX(RENOWN)(COMPLETE)
After the events of Red Rogue, Cyran was mulling over what he'd learned when he spotted a sword sticking out of the sand, and noticed someone being dragged away by harpies. He flew after them in an attempt to save the would-be victim, when he met Killian Glae, the quiet swordsman who'd set off to eliminate the harpies plaguing the coast and harming the locals. The two ventured into the harpy's nest together, where they fought through an angry swarm all the way to the harpy patriarch.
[CYRAN'S NOTES: Killian is an oddly serious fellow, but he's an honest person and a talented swordsman. I owe him a favor for saving my life from the harpy patriarch. I wonder why the name sounded so familiar to me, though...]
THE SULTAN'S TOMB (TEAM DUNGEON)(COMPLETE)
Cyran, Cirice, and Gerhart brave the Sultan's Tomb, a deadly dungeon full of traps and unseen dangers, with only one riddle to guide them. Having already sacrificed his right eye to gain entry, Cyran worries what other horrors they might face, warning everyone to take caution as they progress through the underground lair. If only Gerhart would stop blowing things up to progress...
LEAVE A LIGHT ON FOR ME (RENOWN)(ONGOING)
While going on an insect hunting trip in the Lantern Light Woods, Cyran met a strange young elven girl and her drake who invited him to her campfire and asked him for a story. He accepted, telling Sarris about what had brought him out to the forest, when she offered to join him and help take care of the insects eating the rare plants.
WILTED FLOWERS AND GHOSTS IN THE WIND (ON HIATUS)
In the oasis of Zeinav Desert, Cyran paid a visit to the man who made him the eyepatch after he lost his eye. The two ended up having more in common than either of them expected.

Cyran and Zarius are invited to a gambling event for charity in Zeinav on behalf of Zarius's mother, Madam Zewala, in which they converse with Madam Mohurk, the owner of all casinos and hotels in the city. While they attempt to sway the public to their side and garner support for Darkveil, they have a chance meeting with Sultan Adatian himself - one with mixed results. Cyran is personally just glad they weren't thrown in prison.
THE BIRD, THE BAT, AND THE BAUBLE (COMPLETE)
Cyran is sent on a mission from Zarius to watch over a potential new recruit- Fish- and test whether the thief is competent enough to be an ally. During this mission, Cyran learns some disturbing news about Fish's age. Conflicted about what it means to employ a child, Cyran and Fish leave with their stolen bauble with a lot to think about.
OH, CAPTAIN, LET'S MAKE A DEAL (COMPLETE)
The events of his raid in Frostgale left a bad taste in Cyran's mouth. He'd never heard of PlatinumCorp before now, nor their mysterious CEO, but such horrid business practices - the lack of care and concern for human lives - could not go unchecked. He wanted answers. That was why he decided to break into PlatinumCorp's flagship, the Nin Hloth, to hear them straight from the mouth of the company's mysterious boss herself. What he hadn't expected was a labrynthian construction of automatons, or the identity of the CEO herself.

PULVIS ET UMBRA SUMUS (COMPLETE)
In what was supposed to be a regular trip around Darkveil when running errands for the orphanage, Cyran met a mysterious woman hiding in the shadows in the market, a stranger that felt far closer to him than she ought to have at first meeting. The two instantly realized they shared a connection of unsung similarities - though neither were sure quite how to react to that revelation. Uncertain where to go from here, the two struck up a conversation, hesitant to follow where this uncertain connection would take them.

On the way to the hunt, an anti-poacher recognizes Del based on her bounty and description, causing her panic that she's put them both in danger. Cyran reveals that he's already known about the danger, while Del confirms that she's already pieced together his assassin's nature. Frantic, Cyran sets off after her, learning from Eameia that Del was once a human weapon, providing context for why she would have been taken. The two fight their way to escape from the clutches of their captors.

[CYRAN'S NOTES: After this meeting, I was surprised with a letter from C'leena asking for me to be the 'man of honor' at her wedding. After explaining what the tradition is to me, I was surprised she offered me such an important position, but I accepted with pride, and more than a few tears.]

The eccentric elderly woman has invited the two, under their identities as Illias and Elen Mellora, to celebrate the summer festival on her ship and travel across the sea to the queen consort's event in the Crescent Isles. Though her motives are unknown, the two don their cover once more for another political venture.
SHADE AND SUNBLOCK (EVENT)(CLOSED)
It's the beach episode! Cyran and Del take to the sands for a much-needed and long-awaited break.
OF STEALTH AND STEEL (CLOSED)
Cyran receives a letter from Javal, asking if he would like to train under the swordsman's master. Cyran takes to Thorock, where the two undergo a training montage together.
AN OFFERING TO THE PYRE (RISE OF VULCADREUS CH.2 PART 2: ELECTRIC BOOGALOO)(CLOSED)
Zarius learns some information about the whereabouts of the cultists that kidnapped Cyran and Del. Gathering up his assassin allies, Cyran and the changeling Caedes, the three set out for the Ash Ruins to put an end to this once and for all.
At least, they're going to try their damnedest.
Cyran's Notes: I'm Sorry
[This entry is too tear-stained to glean any more from its contents.]
Much to their surprise, the two learned they had more than a few common connections- namely,
OLD BLOOD, NEW BLOOD (RED ROGUE CH.

Cyran relents, and the two set off to the northern parts of Frostgale in hunt of a yeti that has been terrorizing the villages. On the way to the hunt, an anti-poacher recognizes Del based on her bounty and description, causing her panic that she's put them both in danger. RELATIONSHIPS
Love
Name | Description | Met In: |
Delaela "Del" Asiliari Cyran's Fighter | Cyran met her in the streets of Darkveil, and instantly recognized her as a kindred spirit, one who had been marked by the shadows the same as his. Casual interest and curiosity has blossomed into something more, a desire for friendship, and the realization that they bear more similarities than simply their connection to the darkness. He thought himself far beyond the years for romance, not given his previous failed marriage and the dark nature of his profession, but perhaps it is not too late for him. The two have recently become engaged through a strange twist of fate, bound through thick and thin and the series of trials that they have endured. She is his fighter, and they are the Crucible and the Fallen Star, bound by the shadows. More than that, he's ready to try again with her. Maybe he doesn't deserve love, and maybe his past is too stained to ever call himself a good person. But Del knows his truth, and she does not shy away from it. He cannot imagine life without her. And he so deeply regrets that he has ruined her life by dragging her into the dark with him. He cannot make things right. But he can be a better man... for her. | "Pulvis et Umbra Sumus" |
Family
Name | Description | Met In: |
Iryla | Cyran met Iryla when she attempted to pick his pockets in the streets of Darkveil, and Cyran found something worth far more than the money he'd lost. He took her to his room in the Dancer's Den along with Zarius, both of whom made sure she was bathed, clothed, and fed. While she was guarded at first, Cyran asked her to stay with him and show her around the city, and quickly found that he didn't want her to leave. She had a lot of promise as a thief and had taken to his lessons well, and he finds that his life has been far happier with her in it. Together, both lonely people unused to being loved stumble their way towards family. Cyran collects trinkets for her in his travels. | "It's all Fun and Games Until You Get Caught" |
Seiya | Cyran initially met Seiya during a job, when they were on opposite sides. That job quickly went south when Cyran realized that Seiya was just trying to help give his mother a good holiday, and he knew that he couldn't fight the half-demon. Despite his age, Seiya possesses a surprising amount of wisdom and emotional maturity, even though he seems determined to give Cyran heart attacks with all the scars he likes to show off. He is Cyran's fighter, his champion, even though the thought of him going off and getting into danger worries Cyran, he knows that Seiya is strong enough to handle whatever comes his way. | "Old Blood, New Blood" |
Cypress Springleaf | A young adolescent satyr with a problem controlling her magic. She's a sweet young girl, and so very bright. Cyran laments that she had to grow up so fast; he hopes that by giving her a home, she can learn to be a kid again. Cyran is overjoyed that she has come out of her shell in the past few months, even though the father in him worries about the influence that her girlfriend has had on her wild streak. So long as she's having fun, he doesn't mind... mostly. It has done leaps and bounds for her wild magic, and Cyran believes she has limitless potential, and he cannot wait to see her grow into herself and her confidence. He believes in her. | "Little Hearts" |
Fish | Cyran's relationship with Fish has always been somewhat turbulent since the moment they met. It is in Cyran's nature to worry about children who have been forced to grow up too fast, and Fish has refused at every turn to be seen as anything but a professional. But they have made good progress. Cyran strives to always try his best to give Fish a good home and support when they need it. They are so very talented, and Cyran wants to see them learn that they can be a person as well as a weapon. Progress has been... hampered, as of late, due to his recent stint on the run, but Cyran loves Fish with all his heart and that will never change. | "The Bird, the Bat, and the Bauble" |
Friends
Name | Description | Met in: |
Shaa Rhuun | Cyran struck up a surprisingly fast friendship with Shaa after their escapades together in Moonglade. Shaa is friendly, and easy to get along with- while Cyran may not wholeheartedly approve of starting forest fires as distractions, he knows Shaa is a man with a good heart and hopes they can work together again someday. | "Lunacy" |
Gerhart Stanislav | Gerhart is a lighthearted and friendly person to be around. His and Cyran's friendship could only be described as "himbo college frat boy and single PTA dad", but they get along well and they often find themselves going on crazy adventures together. | "I Fished Fishermen to Fish More Fish" |
"Wolfe" | A knight that Cyran met during his adventure in the Dragon's Cradle. Oriole already seems to revere them- now that Cyran has spent more time with them, he recognizes Wolfe as the same Blue Raspberry who came with Astrid to safely deliver lost children to Shade's Valley Orphanage, the one who threw up a bunch of stuff in his bathroom. He has put together the pieces that Wolfe is a shapeshifting Ooze, but he will do nothing with this information. | "A Welcome Surprise" |
Kvasir Sigurros | A young medic from Zeinav who made Cyran a floral eyepatch in the wake of losing his eye in the dungeon. The two rarely meet, but when they do, it is with mutual understanding for what they have lost, and what has changed them over the years. Cyran thinks Kvasir is a dependable young man, and one who bears a lot of heartache, at that. He understands the feeling of being haunted by the dead you can't control. | "Wilted Flowers and Ghosts in the Wind" |
Javal Zarrias | Cyran and the fellblood met when Javal approached him and asked, 'would you like to be my friend'? An odd meeting that has stuck in my mind ever since. He admires Javal's deep sense of honor and moral code, though feels protective of him because of his naivete. The two frequently hunt demons together, which has caused a deep bond of trust between the two. | "Sing 'Till the Cows Come Home" |
C'leena Thomas | A doctor with a churlish attitude that's a friend for life once you get to know her. Cyran met her in the midst of a meditation session and helped her through a panic attack. Ever since then, C'leena has apparently felt a lot of gratitude for him and the two have struck up a fast friendship. Cyran has even met her fiance, and C'leena has asked him to be the man of honor at their wedding - a privilege that Cyran doesn't feel he deserves, but has accepted nonetheless. | "Memories of a Lost Life" |
Nephele | A nymph, and C'leena's fiance. Cyran knows little about her, but they have built a mutual trust and friendship based on their care for the human woman. Cyran trusts this will flower into a great companionship between the two. | "A Heartwarming Reunion" |
Astrid Stormstone | A cheerful half-dwarven girl that Cyran met during the Black Harvest festival during a game of truth or dare. She dared Cyran to pants Zarius (a secret that he will take to his grave). She brought a handful of orphans that she met during an adventure to Cyran's orphanage, in which he got to know her a bit better. She is young, but a gung-ho person. She's probably leagues stronger than him but he can't help but worry about her going out on adventures. He also worries about the influence she has on Cypress. Cyran views Astrid the way one might view a niece; not his own child, by any sense of the word, but one that he is close to and has vowed to look after and protect. She trusted him enough to divulge how she lost her arm, a secret she had not shared with anyone else. Cyran has promised to help her with her quest to revive Zarius, regardless of the painful memories it brings back. She put her trust in him and he will not fail. | "The Most Dangerous Game" |
Marion Aurea | Marion is a sweet young man Cyran met during a trip to Eclipse City. The sun elf is perhaps overly-trusting, inquisitive, and prone to going on tangents that Cyran might not fully understand but enjoys listening to. He has promised to help the young man with his own guild ventures, whatever that looks like. Marion has also not once questioned why Cyran isn't fully welcome in Eclipse City, which is... nice. He hopes for more adventures together in the future. | "Just Two Elves Putting up Posters Nothing Sus" |
Galvynn Ostwick | Galvynn saved Cyran from a failed assassination attempt, and even though Cyran does not completely agree with his way of thinking, Galvynn is easy to get along with and provides a calm atmosphere to exist in. They have yet to meet since their first encounter, but Cyran appreciates what he has done. | "Finding Solace in the Aftermath" |
Allies
Name | Description | Met In: |
Vakker | Cyran isn't sure what to think of Vakker, as the two have not spent much time together outside of group settings, but he does know that the Satyr is cunning and likes to poke fun at him. Cyran does consider the man an ally, though, and meant his offer to help Vakker in the future. Whether they will get closer or not is up to time. | "The Devil in Disguise" |
Nyr | A medic that Cyran met with Askr during a mission in Frostgale. Askr seems especially taken with the young man, as much as the kid can convey on his face. | "The Long, Narrow Trail" |
Obligations; Contractual Relationships
Name | Description | Met In: |
Hylltywyll | Cyran's relationship with the dark fae is... complicated. Hylltywyll showed up as a visitor on his doorstep and requested to learn magic. In an interesting turn of fate wherein Cyran's own protectiveness for his kids got in his way, he ended up making a deal with Hylltywyll that might have been wholly unnecessary. The terms of the contract are thus: Hylltywyll will never intentionally harm or threaten anyone inside this orphanage, except Cyran, unless they try to harm or threaten him first. H also won't intentionally harm either of Cyran's apprentices, Oriole or Andromeda, even outside of the orphanage, unless they try to harm or threaten him first. In exchange, he can travel freely in and out of Shade's Valley Orphanage whenever he pleases as long as he senses the presence of dark magic that isn't Hylltywyll inside or can see Cyran inside the orphanage, and Cyran have to give him whatever spells, tricks, magic, or knowledge he asks for, that Cyran is capable of giving him, whenever Hylltywyll meets Cyran in any location. | "A Blessed Day" |
Laments... Regrets... Mistakes
Name | Description | Met In: |
Zarius Rha'oryn | While Zarius may hold great ambition, and has a somewhat hardened edge to him, Cyran finds common ground with the tiefling, as both are in unsavory lines of work, and it is hard to find companionship. He has long since considered Zarius (and by extension, Eameia) to be his first and best friends. Even though Zarius believes himself to be cold and goal-driven, Cyran knows that he has real humanity, and that he cares far more about his people than he cares to admit. And still, Cyran was the one to kill him. A mission gone wrong; Cyran believes what he did was a mercy, to end Zarius's pain, but the moment itself will haunt him for the rest of his days. Not a day passes when he doesn't wonder if he could have handled the situation differently. If he could have actually saved his friend instead of causing so much pain. | "The Devil in Disguise" |
Caedes Oleander | The two met long ago, back when Cyran was much more reclusive and private. Caedes helped him navigate the forest; and in a funny twist of fate, the two ended up becoming friends and temporary roommates through Zarius. A bond that was severed when Cyran killed the man he loved. It is entirely possible Caedes will never forgive him, and Cyran will accept that if it turns out to be the case. He will not forgive Caedes for targeting the love of his life in retaliation... but he hopes one day they can find mutual understanding again. He misses his friends. "You're right where you belong." | "Upturned Roots" |
Askr Mimaeth | Cyran does not know Askr very well. But he does know that he is sorry, and that he will never be able to make things right. He fears the day that he might have to look Askr in the eyes and see the hurt of what he's done; depriving a child of one of the only father's he has ever known. Cyran thinks it might be the thing that destroys him. | "The Long, Narrow Trail" |
