As the dagger changed direction and Gladio's sword missed it's mark, his leg burned by the continued effect of Xalmann's heat cloak, the Sword wouldn't wait anymore and healed Gladio of his burn, what this didn't do was getting rid of the exhaustion or the effect of the heat, that was already causing a fever. After being healed Gladio recovered some mobility so he quickly crouched towards his left, and away from the dagger, slipping under the hot axe, Meanwhile he lifted his sword with both hands in a rising slash towards his opponent's wrist.
After Slashing, he kept the momentum of his Crouch, following it with a roll to his left side, while panting. The spin got him dizzy, thanks to his rising weakness, and as he got up too fast from it as to not be caught by another attack. His brain blacked out for a second. Enough to make him begin falling to his knees, at which point he recovered consciousness, but it was to late to catch himself as his knees where already buckling. He used his sword as a support to not fall face first instead ending on his knees. At which point the Guild assistant looking at the fight called it as a victory for Xalmann.

Xalmann watched as Gladio's wounds healed in an instant. Frustrating, but also almost welcome. This friendly sparring match had become much more of a battle than he had expected and he was almost pleased to see it might continue. Xalmann pulled his hand back, out of the way of Gladio's slash and lifted his axe and prepared to continue after Gladio, not relenting in the battle at all, but suddenly Gladio looked to black out for a second and fell to the ground. He lowered his weapons as the guildmember that had been overseeing the match came forward and announced it over.
"That's enough! Cool down. It's over." the man said, looking to Xalmann before offering a hand and helping Gladio to his feet.
Xalmann let the fire magic fade, the area around him that had become like the inside of an oven becoming immediately more comfortable. The scales on his hands also stopped glowing, cooling back down to their usual red color and no longer burning anything they touched. Xalmann sheathed his weapons and crossed his arms in front of his chest before looking at Gladio. He was a bit disappointed that the fight had ended so suddenly, and just as he was beginning to enjoy it. He looked down at the scratch that was still on his scales from a glancing blow of Gladio's sword. It wouldn't leave a scar, his scales shedding and being replaced to often to allow such trophies, but he would leave it be until then. He looked to Gladio again and gave him a nod of respect.
"That was a good fight! Quite the display of combat ability, you two! We'll be happy to have you among our members."
