As the large wave crashes over the deck the ship, Zarius is knocked off the mast from the force. He slams down against the deck hard enough to knock the air out of his lungs. He slides across the tilted deck and is saved from going overboard only by the rail which he collides with.
He just lies there for a moment, soaking wet and with waves of pain overwhelming his mind consciousness. He hears Xalmann and Edward shouting. Had something else gone wrong? Was this whole venture doomed from the start?
His mind was swimming. What would drowning be like? It always seemed like a painful, slow way to go. Maybe he'll get luck and get hit by a lightning strike. That would be fast in theory. Otherwise, getting knocked out would be the next best option.
He glances about the deck. The rain made it hard to make anything out aside from vague outlines of his companions. Lightning flashes and for a split second he sees someone else there. An imposing figure standing solidly on the deck with curled ram-like horns adorning his head and sharp gold eyes. In that moment, Zarius hears the figure speak only two words in a commanding tone.
"Get. Up."
Zarius snaps out of it and blinks away the rain in his eyes. He rolls over, wincing in pain and coughing. Bracing himself against the rail, he pulls himself up and looks out across the choppy waters. The vessel crests one last white cap and then glides towards the eye of the storm.
The waters ahead were eerily calm compared to the chaos surrounding it. He squints. Just on the edge of the storm's eye there was something bobbing in the water. Was that a rowboat?

The ship finally sails into calm waters. The sky above was clear and bright, the waves short and the water glittering in the sunlight. It was peaceful. All around this small patch of calm was still a violent storm with violent waves and dark clouds. Lightning could be seen streaking down and the sound of thunder echoed into the eye of the storm.
Xalmann could finally let out a deep breath and calm down. His scales returned to their normal dark red color, the fiery glow fading away. He looked around at his companions on the deck. They looked beaten up from being tossed around in the storm. He walked over to Edward and helped him onto his feet just in time for the man to turn away and vomit over the side of the boat. Zarius looked like he had already helped himself up using the railing. He should be fine. The Lizardman wasn't a particularly caring individual. He didn't show great concern for the wellbeing of anyone, not even his companions.
He looked over the railing and down at the water and noticed a small shape drifting in the waves. It looked like the people they had been sent here to save may have been lucky enough to wander into the eye of the storm as well. He walked back over to the wheal and steered toward the drifting shape that he hoped was their lifeboat. If they weren't here in the eye, they were likely dead.

Edward can feel his grip loosening on the mast. He can’t hold on any longer. But Edward can see that they were so close to the break of the storm. The large waves keep bartering the ship and Edward can no longer hold onto the mast and falls down onto the deck of the ship. The air is knocked out of him and his back is screaming in pain. Edward can see flashes of lightning in the clouds above and hears the sound of thunder piercing his ears. Then, silence. They finally made it through. The waves are now soothing and the rocking of the boat reminds him of his mother gently rocking him in bed whenever he had nightmares. He laughs in joy at the ordeal being over and slowly stands up, despite the aching of his joint and muscles. He walks over to Zarius, “Seems like the ruckus is over Zarius.” Edward looks down to see the rowboat. At this distance, he can barely make out several figures huddling close together in the center of the boat. As he was focusing on the rowboat, out of the peripheral of his eye, he notices some movement in the water. He looks at the movement, seeing several large fins poking out of the water that is currently heading towards the rowboat.
