Baird's pride as a fighter was easily rivalled by his delight as a chef. Gripes and grievances could be handled by either means, a spar or a meal, and it mattered that he could do either. No better evidence than here, where he felt compelled to connect with a youth who had no concern for the former.
The boar instructor was proud to see his student having variety on her plate. He tried to figure out who this girl was shaping up to be. The assessment not exactly easy or likely accurate, since they only just met. But Zinnia was not so bad. She could be convinced to do her best, even if she needed a tangible reward. Not the nicest, per se, but she had some manners and didn't want to be a pain, it seems. Definitely quiet. Loses herself in thought a lot, to a worrying degree. Oddly hasn't dropped her bag since she got here, but it could just be important or soothing for her. All-in-all, the beastman hope to stop by if he ever is in the area again. If for no other reason than to make sure whoever is taking care of her isn't doing more damage than not. The appreciation Zinnia expressed at the end had totally made the whole day worth it. Even Mors smirked at the adorable display. Blithe felt a little nice at being included. The unpredictable energy of a child. She may not think much about this lesson now, but if she ever needs to use what she learned, she'll (hopefully) have today to remember what to do.
Now all that's left was to say farewell. Though Mors did have one tidbit of curiosity that held in his head, now that Baird noticed it a minute ago. "Hey, kid. Before we head out, I've got a question. Why do you carry that heavy-looking thing all the time? Not that it is a problem, just wondering." He'd say pointing at the book's container.

Post by (L'atio and) Zinnia on Nov 17, 2024 5:54:22 GMT -5
"This is proof that I'm a spellcaster!" The girl puffed her chest pridefully, as though somewhat offended at the idea that L'atio was simply a burden to her when the latter had promised to teach her magic proper the next time that 'Teach' of hers was out of their collective hairs for a few days. "...Even if I don't know any spells yet." And hunched her back, hanging her head down in somewhat of an exaggeration. "But I will get there!" A fierce expression formed on her face as she looked up once more at Mors, fist raised and clenched strongly, like making a vow. In reality though, it was a pitiful execution of a scenario that was all but taken out of a comic book page, sans whatever fires might possibly be drawn over her eyes and the background.
Anyhow, training was officially over and the late season of harvest meant that daytime was shorter than what it would normally be, so the girl's activity hours would soon be coming to an end. "The sun's already setting? Darn it, and here I thought I could be out a while longer..." Zinnia was visibly depressed that outdoor time was already over, though L'atio would never concede his preferences for indoor settings if the two ever broke into an argument over it. Being the recluse that he was, he generally found the most comfort in enclosed spaces... so long as he was alone, that is. A rarity that was like the blue moon back in his day. His position as royalty meant that being unaccounted for was absolutely unacceptable, and being shadowed was an entirely common practice for both good and ill. "I'll be heading home now. Thanks again Baird, Mors and Blithe! I'll be sure to be able to throw out some magic if we ever meet again!" The girl threw out another punch as a greeting of sorts, then waved goodbye as she ran towards the direction of Teach's house.
