Chuckling, Mimi contemplated how best to answer the Benies: “That’s a lot of questions. Uhm, let’s see... I grew up in the Zeinav Desert. Not a great place. Wouldn’t recommend you go there. You might get sand stuck in your fur for months!” she widened her eyes to drive home the horror that experience would be. “I probably still have some lodged in my hair, even though I’ve been gone for months now. "And, uh, I’m trying to become a healer. But I only just started my training so it’ll be a while until I’m any good at it - at least I hope I'll be decent at it one day. As to where I’m staying,” Mimi scratched her head uncertainly, “y’know, just here and there. Right now I’m renting a little room for a few days. After that, well, who knows what’ll come up by then.” She gave Zeke’s head a gentle stroke, a small but reassuring smile on her lips. They’d be fine, no matter what happened. As long as they had each other. “But enough about me. Tell me about you guys! You probably lead much more exciting lives than me. So, what drives a Beanie in this world?”

Post by The Beanies (and Demony) on Nov 5, 2024 21:49:58 GMT -5
The Beanies didn't really mind deserts - not that they needed hydration to live anyway, and they weren't actually all that furry that sand was not much of an issue to them, but they could see Mimi was being entirely genuine so they played along and went """Oh no!""" in response. """Ooh.""" Next was about the talk of Mimi wanting to be a healer. "Star-plush hopes Mimi succeeds!" Star put their paws together like one would when doing a prayer. "Mimi can do it!" Goody cheered for her too. Chili is not sensitive enough to throw out platitudes, so they gave no proper response.
"Oh. Goody is happy to hear that Mimi has a roof over Mimi head, even if temporarily." The hatted plushie was now feeling rather awkward, unsure what to say without sounding insensitive or condescending. The Beanies wondered if Mimi meant that literally or metaphorically. They had no real answers for the former, so they sure hoped they could get away with answering just the latter. "Beanieventures!" Star did an on-the-spot march. "Making friends!" Goody spread their arms upwards with smiley eyes. "FOOD!" Chili was now eyeing everyone else's food, hoping to steal a bite like the gluttonous polar bear that they were.
Demony just wanted out of this wholesome interaction and pondered the possibility of jumping into the sea before surmising that it wasn't that desperate and put that thought away.

Mimi’s already bright smile widened at the Star’s and Goody’s encouragement for her healing ambitions. She wasn’t really used to have anyone cheering for her, but it felt damn good to have someone believe in her. Even if said someones were odd little sentient plushies.
Noticing Chili eying her food she offered up some of her sweet and spicy fried meat. Sharing food was second nature to her and it would bring her immense joy to see someone else happy at such a small gesture.
She was struck with an odd idea as she mulled over the Beanies’ answers. “You know...” she started, “I might know someone that I think you should meet. My friend Baird is the most amazing cook I have ever met and I bet he would love to cook whatever you like for you guys.” She shot a smile towards Chili. “He is a bit different, though, so he doesn’t have a lot of friends, but he is such a kind hearted person when given the chance.” She winked at Goody. “But sadly I don’t know where he’s gone. It might be quite the task to track him down.” Mimi finished, giving Star a meaningful look.
“It’s just an idle thought, of course. You might have much better plans that tracking down the kindest, bestest cook in all of Charon.

"Yay food! Thanks Ms. Mimi!" Chili gorged away at the offering without hesitation, causing Star to shoot a glare at their polar bear buddy as was a regular occurrence with how discourteous they tended to be. "Chili-plush! Manners!" The light yellow paws would only slow so very slightly in response.
The Beanies' eyes all collectively lit up and widened at the mention of Baird. "Ms. Mimi knows Mr. Baird?" Goody started, their voice eager to share in the excitement. "Mr. Baird best friend!" (note: so far, and limited specifically to Charon) Star then added, arms spread wide and flailing energetically. "Helped us fixed our broken wagon!" "Makes great foodies! Chili love Mr. Baird cooking!" Chiming in on the compliments was a Chili-plush who halted their food consumption just long enough to get their words in before diving right back into it. Only thing Demony remembered about the porcine abomination was how godawful he made its recovery with all the positive vibes the Beanies ended up emanating with his presence and help. That bastard was most definitely on its admittedly short hitlist at the moment, just under the accursed author of that saccharine storybook the quartet heralded from and that undoubtedly powerful Mr. Captain of the Fighter's Guild. "We sure hope we get to see Mr. Baird again!" Star then ended while Chili pondered the search of the 'bestest cook in all of Charon'.
It would be a few moments later when Chili stood up and curled their paw, eyes sharp, declaring, "Search for bestest cook in all of Charon? No. CHILI WILL BE BESTEST COOK IN ALL OF CHARON!" In a more graphically-inclined world, there might be imaginary fires burning around the polar bear plushie. Star and Goody looked at each other with wistful expressions on their faces. "Yeah, yeah," Star put their paw on Chili's head and pressed them down. "How is Chili-plush gonna do that when we don't even know what 95% of ingredients are supposed to be?" "Chili will learn!" Chili put their two paws on this waist and stood proudly. "While spending away all our money, Star-plush assumes." The winged bear retorted dryly. "Chiheehee..." Chili giggled without the slightest hint of guilt.
