Gwendolyn waited on the surface. A stormdrain lay below her, and three of her maids took ready positions on either side of the alleyway. It was an unassumingly calm day on the streets of Sol City, but she knew that things were only just going to get worse. Sources within the Consortium had sent her the location of an underground lab hidden within the sewers. Instructions were to raid as soon as backup had arrived. The instructions disseminated to herself and the Manor Maids were simple. Capture Malik, destroy the lab, protect civilians if possible. Simple enough. Though she was used to missions being more “Dead or Alive” as it were. Though the reminder of restraint did give her the opportunity to down a potion or two in preparation, as well as ensure her weapons are at full potential. (1/2/3/4/5) The maids surrounding her acknowledged her unspoken order, and each cracked a unique smelling salt. The light in her maul activated, and a soft blue glow began creeping up the staff that floated behind herself. Alvina sat invisibly on her shoulder, eager for the festivities to begin. The Master of Mists had a vested interest in whatever was going on below, but had not shared it with Gwendolyn herself. No matter, the mission would be carried out regardless. The sun hung low in the sky as the shadows began to overtake the alley where they lay in wait. Entry was in two minutes, with or without backup. The air was tense, Millicent and Jess exchanged self reassuring glances between themselves, and a worried glance at Mori. The Feline-kin maid didn’t even seem to care about whatever was going on, focusing more on a passing butterfly. It fazed Gwendolyn little. All of the Manor Maids were exquisite fighters, and Mori had more than proved herself in Mt. Drakolt. “Focus up, one minute.”talesofcharon.proboards.com/thread/5406/encountersQuest Name: Perfection in a Bottle Participants: Two or more Location: Sol City Post Requirements: 10 posts per person, 250 words per post Description: We have located Malik's lab deep in the sewers of Sol City and need help in detaining him before he can set his plan into motion. With the sun going down the Sarne had gotten some word from Nordic that there was a raid going down and someone from the Mystwud family was involved and doing the raid. Sarne knew of the name but not the family. The word was The Consortium was planning a raid. The person doing the raid was Lady Gwendolyn Mystwud Sarne knew her only by reputation. Sarne knew Nordic was seldom wrong and Nordic had told the Consortium that Sarne would back Gwendolyn up. The shadows began to overcast the alley where Gwendolyn and her subordinates were waiting. Sarne did not like the confined area of a ally not to mention the grim and smell. Sarne was able to get to Gwendolyn unseen and unnoticed. [1] Sarne and his subordinates Nordic, Naesala, and Vamir are not too far off. Sarne got close to Gwendolyn and then walked out of the shadow nearby. Just appearing out of nowhere. Nordic, Naesala, and Vamir did the same but from other positions. they stepped out with their hand out and in none threatening manner. "I am Ser Sarne Sequoia of Silvermyist, Lord of Grey Stone Keep,
Captain of Hunters of Solaria. My subordinates are Nordic, Naesala, and Vamir Hunters of Solaria. we are here to back you up for the raid." Stated Sarne in a low tone but with some authority. "How can I assist Lady Gwendolyn?" asked Sarne then craking a small smile.
The man you see has soft features like an elf with a husky build. He is strong and has swift movements, making almost no sound as he walks. You can tell he is a nobleman in the way he presents himself, his armor, and his clothing. His piercing green eyes shine in the light. He stands almost 6 feet. His dirty blond hair is neat and well-kept. His skin is slightly tan showing the time he spent in the wilderness. Sarne is attractive and charming, knightly in his actions. The Harness he wars underneath the cloak, but over normal attire, the harness comes equipped with numerous leather rings and straps.
Wearing a full-body cloak with long wide sleeves and a hood, made of canvas is a flat, matte grey color, His cloak is large enough to fully cover his body.
His armor and cloak have a crest that could be seen on his front and back, The coat of arms is a Scroll-eared top, lobed base shield divided lines making four parts with Red, gold, and White parts. with a crow at the top To the right is a griffin It is the emblem of valor and magnanimity. To the left Pegasus The emblem of fame. With a holy rune over it and a fire rune under it. The Mask Sane sometimes wears is a form-fitting gray matte mask. It covers the entirety of the face from the forehead to the chin. This mask looks a lot like a theater mask.
The sword at his side is made of white gold and silver a long sword of beauty. On his back is a gold bow in a sheath of its own but no arrows can be seen. two Kukri Dagger handles could be seen at times sticking out from behind him. He is a man who looks to be experienced, A man to be reckoned with.
Nordic, Naesala, and Vamir took different positions as well as highly trained warriors they are. They [2] disappeared back into the shadows out of sight. The impression was they showed them self's out of respect.

The sudden appearance of the group definitely caused a ruckus amongst the maids and their master. Gwendolyn had almost swung her maul at the shadow that appeared closest to her, stopping herself once introductions were being made. So… this was the Sequoia family survivor. She had heard of all the deaths recently, oddly surprised that the family heir was still out and about. Or even alive for that matter. And to top it all off, him and his associates were here for the raid. “Pleasure” Gwen says in an almost grumble. Not happy to have been snuck up upon, at least they hadn’t planted a dagger between her ribs. “This is Millicent, Mori, and Jessica. We’re just about to start, The tunnel complex that had been mapped by the city so far is severely incomplete. Several new additions are suspected to have been made by Malik. I’ll be sending a 2 maid team in the other direction once we enter to try and head off any escape.”Mori and Millicent both stuck thumbs up, indicating their understanding of the assigned task. Jess would be sticking with her, and attempting to head directly for the lab. “Alright, any last words?”With anything left to be said, the sun dipped below the buildings across the street. “Mission Start” Gwendolyn stated confidently, before reaching down and touching the manhole that covered their entrance tunnel (1). In an instant, the solid iron manhole cover evaporated into a soft mist, disappearing from sight. An instant later, she and her crew had jumped in. Sarne watched as they jumped into the entrance tunnel. Sarne knew this was not going to be a pleasant place as he looked down to make sure it was clear. When they got down into the sewers of Sol City. Nordic was the first to go down followed by Sarne then Naesala, and Vamir. They followed the others as they walked.
It was dark except for the little light coming through the drainage holes from outside. The smell of rotting vegetation and scummy water below their feet. Large spiders ran when they were coming. A snake slithered by Nordic's feet the Dwarf started grumbling. Dripping water fell from the top of the narrow sewer tunnel. Splashes and the slurp of mud could be heard as they walked. The air was thick and stagnant. Dead leaving fragments and mud clumps sticking to their boots.
Sarne could see why they used this sewer people would not want to come this way He did not think even the city guard. The stench made it hard to concentrate. Flare the pixie came out from under Sarne's hood holding her nose. "what is that smell," asked Flare sounded a little weird from holding her nose. Nordic looked back with a grunt.
There was a Y intersection in front of everyone. they could go left or right. There was more water running on the right tunnel still slopping down some. The left looked like it was sloping up and little water was coming from it. "Which way would you like to go, Lady Gwendolyn?" asked Sarne his face reflecting in the little light that was down there. [1] making the natural light a little brighter in the tunnel.

The smell was simply revolting. Several distinct aromas of shit and decay invaded her nostrils at once. Overwhelming was the only way to describe it, and she had no doubt that it would only get worse the further in they got. It was all she could do to hold back the vomit before she could light more incense. Her maul, hip censer, and veil all got a heaping extra dose of aromatics added before she could bear to respond to Sir Sarne. “Right, I assume any lab needs a fresh source of water… no matter how foul.” She said, groaning internally at the fate she had subscribed herself to. No doubt a cistern of some sort down that direction, but it would give plenty of room for nefarious deeds. She gave the hand signal that sent Mori and Jess to the leftmost tunnel, making a short ascent that might lead to another entrance. Gwendolyn cringed with every step down the moist corridor, each footfall bringing something new to squish against her polished boots. Important things were on the line sure, but this was downright degrading. After about 10 minutes of walking, they arrived at the first termination of the sewer. A large cistern opened up before the group, with water pouring in from all directions. A thin platform stretched from four corners of the wall to meet in the middle, a stone arena with naught but a sewer grate above letting in natural light. The sounds of street life could be heard echoing down from above, but that was far removed from the situation they found themselves in right now. Two robed individuals stood silently on the platform in the center, having eerily awaited their arrival.

The robed individuals stood silently on the platform in the center natural light surrounded them in the large cistern. The thin wood platform extended from four junctions of the wall to meet in the center. Sarne got a smirk on his face. sarne walked forward with his hand out to his side getting to the edge Sarne stopped. "You did not have to greet us. I am honored that two fine ah... individuals as selves greet me now." started Sarne his posture relaxed his smile welcoming. Sarne dropped his hands to his side. "My associate here was just talking about how you must make freshwater or need it. But it is too bad that you got to waste it on a bad business," said Sarne still with a grin. The two robed individuals look "You talk too much" one of them said. They lift their hands and point at Sarne [1] Bullets of water are shot at Sarne. A spellblade, and a Light magician to boot. Will have to keep an eye on this Sarne character. However, there were more pressing matters, two of them to be precise. Gwendolyn readies her maul, and fakes a toss. Her real attack is the precharged staff that had been following closely behind her. Her swing brings her right shoulder down far enough that the length of the now intensely glowing weapon can be seen by the mercenary before her. A beam of bright blue light illuminated the chamber as it rocketed towards the robed individual. A loud bang of light and smoke erupted from his location, before slowly dissipating to reveal the outcome of the shot. An outstretched arm, now missing it’s twisted pale grey hand revealed where the shot had landed. He…blocked it by sacrificing his hand. “Shit” She mutters, seeing the man’s crooked smile shine from beneath his hood. A blink later and he was already in her face, his remaining fist, wrapped in iron chain, risen in a leaping punch. The impact to her skull sent stars flying in her vision as her body careened across the cistern, landing in the shallow water. “Heh Heh Heh” The large man chuckled, his voice deeply altered by whatever malik was doing to his minions. Jess watched her master hurtle across the battleground, and sink below the water. “Gwen!” She shouted, before taking a running dive in after her master. The water was murky, and foul, but she could just make out the noblewoman trying to make it back to the surface against her armour dragging her down. The battlemaid drew a small sigil around her masters chest, pressing it to the metal to activate it’s effect, and began dragging her back up. Sarne watched what just occurred to Gwendolyn. It happened so fast Sarne could not react fast enough to help her. Sarne grunted in frustration. The area was not that large which gave the chain fist robed man an advantage. The chain fist robed man now turned his attention to Sung with a quick back fist attack trying to get Sarne off guard.
[1] sarne turned to shield himself from the attack using his shield to block the man's attack. Sarne grunted under the hit if not for his training as a knight Sarne could have been forced back and off his feet. Sarne used his force to help twist and spin low with his shield. Sarne used his shield to sweep the attacker off their feet creating an opening to deal a strike from his sword.
[2] Sarne's blond hair turned to silver color and shone like metal. Sarne's eyes change to a piercing gold. Sarne's celestial features came out An aura of energy began to radiate from Sarne filling everyone in the party with hope and strength. Anyone whom Sarne considers to be an ally standing in his immediate area will feel their strength grow.
[3] Sarne used a technique best utilized by fighters who have honed their speed and precision to deliver quick, deep incisions in the mans vulnerable spots. His speed allows him to deliver a whirlwind of attacks that deal Major Wounds. Within in a blink of an eye. Blood sprayed from the man on the ground. The pair emerge from the murky depths, jess leveraging her master up onto the walkway opposite the fight. They both gulped down the precious air denied by the sewer, before attempting to lift themselves up to an actual standing position. Looking up, the other mercenary was already pointing a finger at the two of them. The edge of his lip curled into a smile, before casually stating the words for a spell. 1/2 “Drown” he states, before his own body becomes covered in a frosty sheen of ice. The contents of the cistern begin to rise rapidly as the man laughs, dissapearing into the overflow. The water rose to almost neck level before beginning to drain into the cisterns well engineered overflow drain. Lucky, she supposed, before reconsidering that they were neck deep in sewer runoff. An involuntary inhale brought all of the foul odors forward, and Gwendolyn actually did almost pass out this time. The normal access tunnels were closed off to them now, covered in several feet of water. The current was also too strong for her to swim against in armour, so she made the logical choice. “The overflow, it should lead to an emergency flood cistern deeper in the sewers. Maybe we can get back to the surface and catch them there.” She says, relaxing and letting the flow of water take her down the overflow tunnel. The speed of water rushing down dark stone alleys was incredible, the sensation almost like her freefall back in dragons cradle. Actually, a little too much like the freefall, she thought, as the stone suddenly gave way out from underneath her. Falling for what felt like a whole minute, she landed in shallow water at the base of a massive cistern. Jess landed shortly after her, and they helped each other up. Torches illuminated the periphery of the large chamber, though the roof could not be seen in the darkness. Water poured in from a hole in the wall about 50 feet up, presumably where they had just been ejected. There were several other holes dotting the chamber, overflows from every other part of the sewer system. In the center, was a small island made of cobblestone bricks. It hosted several large steel tanks that occasionally spurted out bursts of steam, as well as a host of alchemical supplies and tools. Two figures knelt at the center of the island, chained to the floor. Gwendolyn squinted in the darkness, trying to make out their features. Maid outfits? It was… Millicent and Mori! They had been captured! 1 Flood 2 Glacier Skin: Your entire person, skin clothes and items becomes crystal clear, like ice. The water rushed around Sarne making him lose his footing. The current was strong and pushed him along. The water begins to drain into the cisterns. They have had a planned overflow drain. Sarne struggled for a breath the foul odors overwhelmed him. Sarne hopped to not pass out and drown as he traveled in the water. The current was also too strong for Sarne to swim against it in armor, so Sarne made the rational choice. He went with the flow hoping to end up in the same place.
suddenly it was like the world fell out from under him he could feel the ground coming up at him quickly. Sarne felt as he hit the ground pain shot through his body.
The large chamber He landed in hat torches for light. Water flowed in from a hole in the wall, probably that is where Sarne had just been ejected. Several other spots were dotting the chamber. The downpours from other parts of the sewer. In the middle was a small island made of cobblestone bricks. It had several large steel containers that occasionally emitted steam as a host of alchemical supplies and tools around it
Two figures were chained to the floor. Sarne looked into the darkness and squinted. Sarne tried to make out their features. "what the hell, Maid outfits?" mumbled Sarne blinking a few times to make sure what he was seeing.
Without warning Sarne instinctively rolled as Nordic, Naesala, and Vamir came crashing down where Sarne just lying. They just came from the same opening and were lying in a pile. Sarne stood to his feet dripping with water. "Nice of you to drop in" said Sarne in a sarcastic tone to Nordic, Naesala, and Vamir.

Gwendolyn’s face turned from pale to bright red as she saw her subordinates captured in the center. Furious thoughts danced through her head as she imagined ripping these damn sewer rats a new asshole. Thoughts only interrupted by the splashing of the rest of her compatriots. She looked as Sarne and his followers splashed down into the massive cistern, his sarcastic voice echoing across the stone walls. That wasn’t the only thing she heard however. A slow, sarcastic clap bounced all around them, originating from the island. A twisted and altered form strode from behind one of the containers, stepping to the edge of the island. Following were the two remaining henchmen, both of which grabbed a hostage, lifting them by their necks. The chains that bound them to the floor rattled, stopping Mori and Millicent from being lifted much higher. “It would seem that our laboratory is not quite as secret as I had hoped. That is, quite unfortunate. No other location had quite the breadth of… subjects to choose from. No matter, my work is complete. Mostly…” He seemed almost dissapointed in that last part, but it didn’t stop him from pacing over to a table near one of the work stations. “Perfection in a bottle… I suppose there is nothing like a live demonstration of it’s efficacy.” A glass vial of thick gold liquid was poured down the man’s throat, coughing as he choked it back. He doubled over in a mixture of pain and ecstasy, his entire form growing and taking on a golden sheen. The transformation finishes, with the man cackling with his arms outstretched. “IT WORKS, AHAHAHAA”"Crazy fuck, I'm going to enjoy breaking your perfect body" Gwen said, awestruck at the sheer audacity of the alchemist in front of her. Malik's Ambition A crystalline bottle containing a thick, golden liquid that looks far more viscous than traditional potions. When ingested, the user will notice that it is so cold that it almost tastes like molten fire in the back of the throat. By imbibing this potion, the user will find that their senses have become sharper - the range of their vision is doubled, and their strength is increased. It is as if the limiters connecting their brain to the part of their body that feels pain has been disconnected. They gain five feet in height, and their skin takes on a golden sheen, becoming hard to the touch and granting them one hit prevention. This state lasts for three posts, in which the user's mind progressively begins to cloud with overconfidence, making them act recklessly. At the third post, the state ends as the user's body rejects the golden serum, and they return to normal with a small headache.

Sarne stood to his feet and coughed a few times spitting out some water "OK, that was nasty." Sarne commented. pulling out a silver flask. The two henchmen and Malik looked at Sarne. Who at this point was a wet mess. Sarne had seen A deformed and altered form step from behind one of the boxes and walked to the edge of the island. Malik drank A crystalline bottle retaining a thick, golden liquid that looked far thicker than standard potions. and Malik's muscle mass increased. He grew another five feet in height, and his skin took on a golden luster, becoming hardened. Sarne lifted an eyebrow at what just happened to Malik. Sarne chuckled at what Gwendolyn said to Malik. Malik looked over to Sarne who just smiled. Sarne took a drink from the flask. It looked like Malik was about to say something when Sarne lifted one hand and put one finger up asking for a minute. Sarne gargled some and spit it out then took a few drinks from the flask. "OK, now that water was foul. I bet your serums suck and taste like swamp water," said Sarne looking over to where Millicent and Mori were in chains, and of course, Vamir was right behind them in chains as well. Nordic and Naesala were lying motionless on the ground for good reason. They were still using their Stealth being invisible and could not be seen or they hoped so. Nordic and Naesala could not see one other so they would just wait for their chance to help. They know to help the ones in chains when the time comes. Vamir just shook his head in disappointment that he had got caught. He eyed Sarne letting Sarne know he was OK for now. Sarne Looked at Malik. "Nice trick there," said Sarne. His celestial features start to show. [1] Sarne's blond hair turned to silver color and shone like metal. His complexion turned tan-colored with a lustrous skin tone. Sarne's eyes change to a piercing gold. A pair of feathery angelic wings grow from his back. Sarne's sword had a gold hue about it. The sword was on the ground next to Sarne. "I guess you are going to use the two women as hostages? That's too bad." remarked Sarne as he stretched his wings out Smiling. "Gwendolyn, Malik is all yours," said Sarne with a flash [2] Sarne gave off an instant flash of light from his body, illuminating the area around him. This light is extremely bright and will attempt to blind anyone who is looking in his direction. Their vision is filled with white light. Malik and the other two henchmen tried to cover their eyes but it was too late as their eyes had a burning sensation. The two henchmen dropped Millicent and Mori. covering their eyes with their hands groaning in pain. [3] Sarne's movements were fluid and quick. Rushing into the fray. He dashed forward at incredibly high speeds. allowing Sarne to move at inhuman speeds. He was on the two henchmen in a blink of an eye. [4] Sarne's sword appeared in his hand. Her momentary indignation was offset by the blinding light that illuminated the chamber momentarily. Gwen blinked, her eyes opened to reveal a muscled up Malik rocketing towards her. The golden man slammed into the concrete and brick slightly to her right, his aim obviously off. She beckoned for her maul, calling it to her hands as the Arkanon that hovered behind her began to charge. The dust settled, Malik stood hunched over and slapping at his face and breathing heavily. Blinded, perfect. One hop took her sideways at the wall, where another jump sent her airborne above the hulking man. She hefted the maul high and brought it down hard on his right side. (1) The crack was deafening, the golden arm went limp as Malik turned to face her. His good arm swung around inconceivably fast, grabbing her at the waist and lifting the noblewoman to her face. His blank stare told her he still couldn’t see, but his expression of anger was still quite evident. “RUINED IT. YOU FOOLS RUINED MY PERFECTION.” He shouted, before he rocketed her to the other side of the chamber. Gwen flew for a moment, only having enough time to cast a small protection spell to soften the impact. (2) Her body smashed into the wall opposite malik, leaving an impact crater 10 ft wide from the force he exerted throwing her. She splashed into the water below, the golden glow of magic exuding about an inch from her body even protecting her from getting wet. Jess stared in awe as her master was yeeted across the sewer. The fuck was an ice spike going to do against that?! They were surrounded by water though… She shrugged, summoning a sigil that encompassed Malik. The cool blue sigil faded as the water at the alchemists feet began to swirl, it wasn’t enough to submerge him, but if she could just mess with his footing enough, maybe he would fall or something? With a deafening crack, Malik's golden arm went limp. Malik turned to Gwen Malik's other arm swung around quickly, grabbing her at the waist and lifting the noblewoman. Malik's blank stare told Gwen Malik still couldn’t see, but Malik's face of anger was still quite obvious.
Gwen flew her body and crashed into the wall. Leaving an impact crater from the force throwing Gwen. She fell into the water below. Sarne wanted to help but had the other two to help and could do nothing as he charged the two men holding Millicent and Mori.
Sarne's movements were fluid and quick. Rushing into the fray. He dashed forward at incredibly high speeds. allowing Sarne to move at inhuman speeds. He was on the two henchmen in a blink of an eye. Sarne's sword in his hand. The man tried to punch trying to hit Sarne but connected with his shield [1] Sarne changed his shield direction slightly hitting one of the men with his shield. [2] The man let go of Millicent as he tried not to be swept off his feet but it was too late as he flew into the air. Knocking the man prone and instantly ending any other attack planned.
Nordic and Naesala were waiting for their moment they sprinted forward Nordic as the shimmering cloak disappeared making them invisible. Nordic tuned his axes around for the armor-piercing point on the back of the axe. with a swing, both spikes went through the chain links on Mori's chain. With a quick twist and his dwarven strength the links broke. Naesala came from the blind side of the other man holding Mori. the charge from Sarne surprised him and he did not see them coming. Gwen picked herself up out of the water, surprisingly unharmed for just being slammed into a wall with tremendous force. Looking up, Malik was midair, charging a punch that certainly wouldn’t be protected by the shield. The energy surrounding her released, bathing the entire chamber in a golden glow. The burst of energy shredded Maliks golden skin, but it did nothing to slow his assault. The golden giant slammed into Gwendolyn with the force of a galleon, breaking her armour against the wall behind her. It was not enough apparently, as Malik exhaled rearing his good arm low and hitting her with an uppercut that sent her skywards. Blood erupted from her mouth with the hit, and she lost her sense of direction for a moment as she rocketed up. Her Arkanon floated up along with her, offering a small reprieve from the fall downwards. She grasped onto it’s silvery frame, and began pumping magic into it’s capacitors. Fuck fuck fuck, what the fuck was I supposed to do against THAT? Jess thought as she cowered off behind one of the small water overflows. This fight was significantly above her paygrade, and there was little she was actually capable of doing here. Mori and Millicent were the combat focused ones… And not a moment later, both of them slid out of the access waterfall and landed on top of her. Jess sputtered in the sewer water before picking herself up, flabbergasted at the sight before her. “W-w-what?!” She stammered, before pointing towards the island in the center where a couple of the goons had just been subdued. Millicent looked, and saw what she was referring to. That was…that’s me? And Mori? How? Malik’s attention was garnered by Jess’s outburst, and with the revelation that all witnesses had arrived to the show, it was time to light the fireworks. With a snap of his fingers, the copies of Millicent and Mori began to bulge and distort, leaving only enough time for the real Millicent to shout “Look ou-!”. The clay copies exploded, shrapnel shredding throughout the entire lab.
