Zeeland Ray looked at his friend with the usual mood of surprise and delight, they had worked together for many years and seemed to find each other in the most random of places. The bar was rather well known at least, which would explain why the two of them would end up here. Zeeland had visted this place a few times before.
Zeeland noticed Sarne the moment he had entered the tavern, and had watched him walk up to him. Things had become quiet as of late for Zeeland, so seeing Sarne here was a great opportunity to earn some money.
"Sarne, I'm always happy to work with you. Please let me be the one to buy drinks, you always pay better than Voulsen!" He jestered. "So, what do you have to offer?" Zeeland pulled out his journal and placed it on the table, waiting to write down the details of the job.
Zeeland figured that it would have something to do with The Knights of Duros, as Sarne had told him about it ever since they first met. Sarne was one of the only other people in Zeeland's life that was still alive, and he was just as important to Zeeland as Lord Voulsen was.

"Thank you" replied Sarne with a small smile. Zeeland has a thick black beard was wearing his cowhide jacket. His strange hat next to him was something that Sarne was not accustomed to. Zeeland seems to always dress like a scout. The one thing Sarne liked being around him Sarne did not have to put an act on as some proper nobleman. It was a refreshing break.
Sarne ordered a Dragon Tail Ale and then explained what he needed help with. "Zeeland, there are some bad men, bandits, ruffians whatever you would like to label them." Sarne started looking around. "The group got the nickname Three Skulls. The group has got my attention. they have been robbing, kidnapping then selling them to the slave trade or trafficking them for other uses. they had a low profile and I have dealt with them in the past." Sarne stopped talking while the bar winch gave them their drinks.
"They have been attacking outside of the city near Gray Stone Keep and have taken a child. I am done with being nice. I mean to take them down once and for all. they have made this personal to me by attacking my people." Started Sarne with malice then took a big drink from his ale. "I would like your help tracking down and dealing with the Three Skulls." requested Sarne of Zeeland.

Zeeland nodded and pulled out a bag from underneath the table. From there he pulled out a journal. This journal had been with him since he first started his outlaw career and was full of incriminating evidence against Zeeland. The journal was also full of former bandit groups, which was useful for showing off.
"Three Skulls? I haven't really encountered them before. Do you know their leaders name or at least a high ranking official's name. It'll be best to figure out who's in charge before we go head first into this."
Zeeland flipped to the four hundredth and fifty second page in his journal, which out of five hundred meant that he was going to run out of space in the next year or so. He skimmed through names and names of currently living bandits, looking for anyone who'd fit the description of the Three Skulls.
"Let's see here...Cassano, no Cassano wouldn't kidnap a single child he's far too ambitious for that. Vivienne, no he's too idiotic. Shit, there's too many bandits nowadays, it's like snakes in the grass. One bandit dies, another fifty show up. I don't anyone here who could be apart of Three Skulls so I might be in blind territory here."

Sarne thought for a moment. "If I remember something Nordic said smirking smiles. No, that is not it Smirking something." Sarne said out loud from underneath Sarne's hood a little Pixie stuck her head "Kenley" is the name she said just loud enough to hear the name. "Smirking Kenley, Captain," said the little cute Pixie with curly hair and a big smile. "Ah. He looks scary want me to light him up?" asked the Pixie.
Sarne let out a chuckle "No, no do not do that he is a friend. Zeeland, meet Flare, she can be a bit dramatic at times." explained Sarne. "Zeeland is a friend his skill set is what we need to help that little girl you saw and liked." stated Sung with a smile. She narrows her at Zeeland "Hmm. OK, well you hurt the Captain then I will light you up." she warned. Sarne chuckled "That's enough Flare." She eyed him one more time like she thought Zeeland would be scared of a six-inch Pixie. She went back under Srane's hood.
Sarne takes a drink "That name probably did not help. I was thinking we could head out that way when you are ready and we finish our ales and any food before we hit the road." suggested Sarne.

Zeeland payed little attention to the pixie, partly due to the fact that he was too distracted by writing down the name of Smirking Kenley. He looked through his journal and found nothing on him. "Hmm, I don't have anything on him, that'd hopefully good news. Anyways, I'm ready to go, are we going on horseback or taking a coach?"
Zeeland was well equipped to deal with the bandits, as he was armed with a crossbow at this time. Zeeland was well trained on said crossbow and could handle himself in a fight.
I suppose we ought to take a logical look on how useful a crossbow actually is during a fight. If we consider that a person carries around 25-50 bolts at a time, we can assume that in the heat of battle, a crossbow will fire at least 50 times before running out. This would be a problem in a war torn countryside, but unless Smirking Kenley has gained enough power, he likely only has 10-30 men. The biggest Bandit groups rarely reach 45, and anything above a hundred is more likely to be considered a terrorist group. Therefore, a crossbow is perfectly useful to kill bandits, but is not useful against anything larger than a group of 50.

Sarne gave a nod to Zeeland. "If you grab whatever you need we could be there by this evening. that is after we finish our drinks no sense in wasting good drinks," said Sarne with a grin. "It will take time to get to where they have been the most active." explained Sarne. "It is east of here but north of my keep." further explaining the place. Taking another drink. "The land is hilly and shrubs and trees. Close to the sea and sea cliffs. it is a nice pace there except for the bandits," remarked Sarne finishing his Ale. "Thank you for the drink Zeeland and your help." said Sarne saying it genuinely. The pixie flew down and landed on the table looking up at Zeeland. "So you are helping. I think you too." Flare gave a small bow. Her voice is high-pitched and almost annoying. "I guess you hate bandits too. How many have you killed or captured? How do you plan on helping Ser Sarne? Do you use a sword like Ser Sarne?" Flare asked the questions rapidly talking fast. She did look like she was interested in Zeeland this strange man with fur on his lip.
Sarne stood up. "Flare leave Zeeland alone." said Sarne. Flare gave a disappoint look and flew back to Sarne's shoulder. "See you out side Zeeland," stated Sarne walking out.

Zeeland stared at the pixie in frustration, she was clearly only trusting him because he was working with Sarne, which in Zeeland's eyes was rude and dishonest. But, he now had the chance to brab about his accomplishments.
"How many bandits have I killed? Well...I've killed The Brimstone Brothers, Vonjuilo, Borrego The Sadistic, The O'Neil Family, The Seven Highwaymen Of Kings Valley, and Captain Koster Bergen, just to name a few. Hell, they know me as "Blackeye" due to how many fights I've been in. As for what I use well...(Zeeland removed a crossbow from inside his jacket) this bad boy is a gift from an old friend. I simply shoot a bolt into some poor bastards chest and they never have to worry about their next meal again. Of course it might not kill them, but a second bolt usually does the trick."
Zeeland then addressed Sarne. "Alright, I'll pick up more bolts then we should be good to go. You're welcome by the way."
Zeeland left money on the table and stood up, taking the time to place the crossbow in his jacket. The crossbow only had one noticeable thing on it, a phrase engraved on the wood. Remember My Name, Young One
Zeeland walked out, and prepared to go shopping.

Sarne Looked as Zeeland put money on the table. Standing up, Putting the crossbow in his jacket. Zeeland, as prepared to walk out to go shopping.
Flare bowed "I meant no offense, Master Zeeland. I have heard Lord Sarne talk about you on the way here. I was just wondering." apologized Flare with a bow. Sarne gave a nod and grin to Zeeland as he left.
"Flare, let us go we still have to get ready ourselves" commented Sarne walking out of the tavern. and down the street, it was a nice day and the market was busy
The Cramped wooden stalls with sweaty vendors. simple fabric roofing or simple framing to hang merchandise from, wares laid out on cloth, food, vegetables, jewelry, weaponry, books, bright bolts of cloth and silk, spices, fruit, clothing & shoes. anything someone might need.
the sound of sellers haggling their wares, people talking to their friends. Animals noise the creaking wagons and the clop of horses’ hooves as they pass. This market was alive. Sarne walked and then met up with Zeeland. he did not show but sent a message he would not make it. Sarne had no time to wast leaving the city and going on to the countryside.
Sarne traveled out of the city the scenery changed to Long grass seeded with wildflowers bees and dragonflies, and butterflies flew about doing what they do. Scattered trees with birds were spread out over the land. The sun was high in the sky beaming down on them with the breeze blowing. The sound of Birds squawking and the bugs buzzing. Smelling of the land and flowers was relaxing or would be if Sarne were not hunting the bandits or men that were making trouble for the people out here. Sarne just hoped he would meet someone on the road to help him out.

Post by Calliope Singrid on Jul 13, 2024 22:01:04 GMT -5
Calliope wore a bright smile on her face as she walked with one of the Druids at her side as always. It took a lot of work but she talked them into agreeing to let her finally try to join the knights of duels and was on her way towards the town not minding the long journey as she went with the Druid taking in everything around her. She however paused seeing a familiar face, one she had last seen at the strange ring of flowers. Her smile brightened as she ran over waving a hand in greeting before quickly writing on her board “it’s you again! Hello!” She wrote as her tail swished excitedly behind her, moving back and forth. Her bright yellow eyes looked over the knight in awe as always feeling the hope in her heart that that would be her one day. She had tried to train in the Druid town but most were not keen to fight and of course the animal friends of the Druids couldn’t hold a toy weapon so it was a wee bit limited but she was sure she could learn more as a squire on her way to becoming a full knight

Sarne saw the two coming down the road Sarne was traveling. He did recognize Singrid. Her bright smile on her face as she ran over to Sarne waving a hand in the air. Singrid stopped by Sarne who looked down at Singrid before She quickly wrote on her board “it’s you again! Hello!”
Sarne only knew a few sign language motions but did return the Hello. He looked her over he seemed to be in good health. Sarne knew of some training Singrid was doing with the druids but was not sure how that was going. Sarne dismounted his Unicorn Euros standing next to Singrid. Sarne motioned for the board and wrote on it. "Hello Singrid, I am after some bandits, ruffians whatever you would like to label them. The group got the nickname Three Skulls robbing, kidnapping then selling them to the slave trade or trafficking them for other uses. They made the mistake of attacking some farms on my land." Sarne wrote in a hurry.
Sarne might have to work on his communication with her writing in the middle of a battle would be a bad thing. Sarne had known what her dream was but did not understand the druid training. If she was looking for Training from me this would be a good time though Sarne as he wondered if the bandits he was looking for would be where the report said.

Calliope smiled happily as she read the board and nodded before quickly writing "I can help! I am about to be on my way to try and be a knight!" she showed the board before adding "I can read lips if that is easier" she added as she looked up at him excitedly wanting to help. It could help her see if she was ready to go on her quest. She looked at him with a hopeful gaze that he would let her help. She knew some druid skills because she was raised by a village of mainly druids but she wanted to be a knight. It worried some of the druids of the village to have her go into a dangerous career path but she convinced them to let her try and apply this year finally.
She was determined to help how she could and do whatever she could to help those around her. Her gaze became determined. She looked at the armor the knight wore and imagined herself in something like it that was her own. She imagined returning to the village, successful, everyone proud, maybe her parents watching from above, proud of her for following in their footsteps

Sarne looked her over "Ok, Singrid, you may come with me," stated Sarne with a crack of a smile. "The path of a knight is hard to follow. You must be valor, chivalry, honesty, and compassion to people and fellow Knights. Use those words to be your guide on your walk. I will help you when I can. Now let us get going stay close and watch and Learn, Singrid." instructed Sarne as he started to move down the road.
Sarne traveled down the road the sight changed to Long grass with wildflowers and butterflies flying about doing what they do. Scattered trees with birds were spread out over the land. The sun was high in the sky shining down on Sarne and Singrid a breeze blowing. The hills got bigger here with Farms dotting the land ground plowed and growing produce of different kinds. Cattle wandering in the pasture.
Some farmers bow to Sarne as he rides by others just look at him and eye Singrid for a moment but then go back to work. Sarne turns off the road and starts down a trail. He gets off of Euros and studies the ground. "Singrid, we are getting close stay alert. The bandits we are after do not underestimate them, " warned Sarne now looking at the surrounding hills. "I think I know hwere they are at now," suggested Sarne.

Calliope nodded with a determined look as she smiled and stood up straighter as she followed and looked around to see any movement around them. She could feel the ground shift ever so slightly with the unicorns steps and once they stopped she settled her gaze back on sarne to see what he was saying. She nodded after reading what he said and stayed close by the knight looking around for signs of danger, the only armor on her seemed to be her guantlets, a symbol of fire etched into them. Besides that a long dagger was strapped to her side though she didnt like using it overly much. Yet the druid at her side did not seem overly worried by any of this. After all many in the village tried to teach calliope many skills and spells to help her remain safe over the years. They had confidence in the girl and what she had learned. Of course they would step in if need be but they would let her try and follow the path she believed was best for herself. Calliope noticed some stepped on grass and dirt that had been churned with a footstep or two. She pointed to it and looked to sarne tilting her head as if asking ig this could be from the bandits

Sarne looked at Calliope. "Good eye, yes, I think it is the bandits. The tracks are not too old," revealed Sarne. He looked over a few more spots and then looked up at Calliope. "This way, try to keep a quick pace," said Sarne as he picked up the pace they were traveling. It was not long before they could smell smoke in the air. In the distance, smoke was rising from the next hill. Sarne and Calliope got to the top of the hill. They could see a homestead house on fire a man lay face down in front of the house woman was screaming trying to get to the man another man holding her back laughing. Another man holding a little boy. The boy was crying and struggling to get free. Sarne got Calliope's attention. "We got here late we need to free the people," instructed Sarne. "Free the boy, take the man down kill him if you want," ordered Sarne. He readied his shield and drew his sword. "This will be your first test to become a knight, Calliope," said Sarne looking back at the house. Sarne started at the house at a slow gallop picking up speed. [1] Sarne let out a battle cry calling out into the air. Sarne and Calliope are driven to battle, filled with courage and strength. The bandits look up to see Sarne coming at them some of them run in different directions. Some men yell to arms as more men come from the barn. W all the bandits looking at Sarne they did not even see that Calliope coming. [2] Sarne pointed his sword at the man who was holding the woman. Crackling energy ripped over the sword blade. A beam of pure light shot out a gold hue covering the woman and her scraps and bruises healed instantly. The beam shot through her and the man behind her who let her go the man screamed in pain as his chest burned as the light passed through it. Clothing and burning flesh rose into the air as ash as the man fell to the ground and cried in pain.
[1] Action one: battle cry You send forth a cry of war, calling out into the air. You and all of your allies are driven to battle, filled with courage and strength. Any allies affected by this cry will deal double physical damage for the next two posts, making their physical strikes from weapons deal increased damage for the duration. In addition, all allies affected by the cry can not be feared or forced to turn against their allies. They will ignore the effects of any fear-type spell or ability until the end of the cry duration. Can only use this feature twice per topic. [2] Action 2 Paladin's Blade. However, while holding the sword you can choose to fire out a beam of pure light. This beam has a medium range and shoots out in a straight line. If the beam strikes an enemy it will deal a large amount of light damage, and if the beam passes through an ally it will heal them of all surface-level wounds. Can pass through multiple targets and even solid surfaces.
