Sarne was back at the Martial Academy. One place is The Martial Academy which trains many soldiers and knights of Charon. Sarne had already started to build a reputation for himself and was respected not just because he was a noble but because He showed his skill as a knight. Sane was working on more skills at the time there. He was in the courtyard showing some new students the basics. If you were a veteran when you come back to the Academy learn new skills. You were asked by the Fighters Guild and the Academy to teach the skills to the new students. Sarne was with others teaching and showing what could be done in combat. Sarne enjoyed teaching the new Students. they were most of the time intensive and ready to learn. The bells started to ring out and horns were being blown Sarne could see guards running towards the front gate. Sarne thought it was another drill that the Academy liked to do. A senior cadre ran by and ordered the students back to the dorms. They told Sarne and others they were needed at the front gate. Sarne wondered what would make this much trouble.

It wasn't often that Leandros had the opportunity to give back to the Martial Academy. He had spent so much of his youth here learning to fight. It was hard to imagine what type of person he would have become if he didn't study here. Maybe he would've been the proper statesman his mother wanted.
Probably for the best his martial training turned out as it did, adventuring was a quicker path to political power as she would say. Those concerns were far from the knight's mind as he looked over the few new recruits taking their chance with a polearm.
"Remember, you don't want to let its weight control you. Center yourselves and create a firm base first....You want to be able to stay standing as something charges."
He smiled a bit as they kids went through their motions. They would make fine warriors given time. The first bit of commotion was hard to hear as mages hit the sands, but the calling of the guard was hard to miss.
"To your bunks, head in and stay safe." Leandros motioned with his head for the children to run which they did.
The lion went on the move, jogging towards the gate. School rivalries were one thing, but this seemed to be a bit much. He drew his halberd as he stopped at the portculis, the cranking of the gear signaled its raising.
"Sorry we don't have time for pleasantries Sarne, seems we are both a bit busy."

Sarne gave a smile to Leandros the expression on his face. The grin and glint in Sarne's eye said it all He was ready to fight and almost looked like he would joy it. He had his shield at the ready and his sword out and by his side. Three familiar faces walk up behind him Nordic, Dwarf, Naesala, Half-Elf, Vamir, Elf. still dressed in black. "Sir Aurthurian, It is an honor to serve with you again in this fight," stated Nordic in his raspy voice. Sarne handed Vamir his bow. "Use this make sure you cover Sir Aurthurian's and my back. This and or where Vamir is will be our fallback point or rally point if things go bad. we then reset are line if need be." said Sarne to his followers. "If we hold them at the gate we will win this. what do you think Aurthurian." asked Sarne. A group of small boats landed on the beach. 30 foes rushed up just outside the gate, they started to attack students and tried to push their way in. some were trying to even attend to injured students who were being brought in. "I would say that's our sign," commented Sarne sprinting forward with his shield. [1] [2]The ground he covered was in an instant sarne was a blur as he moved to slam into one of the enemies. the man flew back his chest caved in from the impact of the crest on the shield that in more like a spike than a crest. Sarne followed with a powerful sward swing cutting a man deeply across his chest. The man falls back from the slash.

"They are attacking for a reason, we need to find out why, this is not a slaughter." Leandros moved under the raising gate as soon as he could to try and get out in front of people. "If you're not ready to fight, get behind the gate, get to cover!"
Students that had been resting start to flee past them while what few guards there were at this port grabbed their weapons and prepared. Unfortunately, the disorganized response was pretty easy to repel. Sky mages easily cleared a path off the deck allowing a party to land. Other boats trusted their sea mages to swell the boats forward.
Flame covered rocks are thrown Leandros' way, but the knight deflects them off with his shield as he rotates the halberd in hand so he would swing with his hammer. A lot easier to recover from that than wide gashes.
He extends his reach to crack apart the front part of a boat trying to ride a wave in. Most of the mages are spilled into the shorewaters, slowed down long enough for Gilder to fire shots from atop the wall aside Vamir.
Cries of pain ring out as burning arrows sink into calves and shoulders. Leandros knocks another out before having to bring his shield back up and pull back, baiting the mages forward onto solid land.

Sarne was not too far from past the gate and watched as several Sky mages were going after Sarne. There was no drought in their minds Sarne was dangerous. Another two boats just landed on the beach. The men in the bout lightly armed and armored piled out of the small boat. making it to shore. Sarne was surprised that the men were not well-trained worriers like he thought they would be. one of the Sky mages lifted his hand and pointed it at Sarne a flash of light lanced out. The lightning bolt struck Srane in the chest. Sarne took a step back and smiled. as the lightning bolt dissipated when it hit him. [1] Sarne knew he could not keep that up the others looked at Sarne not sure what to think. Sarne glances over to Aurthurian. "what? Not a slaughter? they just tried to kill me!" yelled Sarne sounding like he was not happy at the moment. The Sky mage that hit Sarne with the lighting bolt yelled in pain as an Arrow of solid light hit the Sky mage in the upper chest then slowly faded. Blood sprayed out of the wound of the Sky mage. The Sky mage staggered back from the surprise of the attack. The Sky mage put his hand over the hole in his chest to try to slow the bleeding. Vamir was happy with his shot on the Sky mage. As a hell of Magic strikes came from the beach Vamir dove for cover barely getting out of the way.
[1]Spell Drinker The slayer has spent their years fighting off magic and they have now learned how to absorb magical energy and use it as their own instead. If you take damage from a spell, regardless of its type, you can instead choose to heal yourself with that spell, causing the spell to act as a minor healing spell instead of its normal type. This will not ignore the effects of a spell, just simply the damage. This feature can only be used twice per topic

"Violence begets violence, if we only meet them with brute force, it confirms what some think of the Martial Academy. Meeting them at their level proves we are no better." Another rock is deflected off of his shield.
Gilder scuttles in the opposite direction of Vamir to spread them out a little bit and make them less of an obvious target. The scout pops back up from cover to fire some more supressing arrows. A fire bolt whizzes towards him, grazing his shoulder as he attempts to move out of the way. He was also annoyed by his lord's insistence at leaving people alive, but he would follow orders.
Leandros himself was underthreat of being overwhelmed as mages started to surround him. He could take out one or two in a swing, but there were a lot of them. Spells pinged off his armor and halberd as he worked to deflect as much of it as he could. When it seemed like the crowd would overtake him there was a burst in the air like a lion's roar as the group stumbled back.[1]
The knight stood tall in the middle of the group, a sudden weight to his presence[2], "Leave now while you have the chance, anything further will not be met with the same kindness you are getting now."
The mages around him shifted backwards a bit, not expecting to meet any actual adventurers on this attack. It was a brief pause in the fighting around Leandros, though others continued to try and break through the walls.

Sarne was not in the mood to be nice the sky magic came with the intent to harm or even kill people at the Academy. The Sky mages now trying to in circle Sarne as well. All of them are about to cast spells. Sarne gave out a loud sigh. and shook his head "Dam, Ser Aurthurian, your right." said Sarne loud enough for Aurthurian to hear it. Sarne knew he was right. His father or Grandfather would not approve of him killing these Sky mages and just killing without knowing why they attacked in the first place other than some rivalry between the Academy and this group of Mages. There was a pause in the fighting after Ser Aurthurian line of Mages and fights backed up and looked frightened.
Sarne saw an Archmage walking up to him. An older man with a scowled look on his face. Sarne recognized the crest on his robes. "The Blessed Ones" mumbled Sarne thinking. A group of fanatic wizards looking to impose their beliefs on the world. This was not the first time Sarne has had a run-in with this group. They are not liked for their radicalism. Sarne remembered this ArchMage his long graying hair. Sky blue and yellow robes. The Mage Sliver staff was one of a kind. "Master Ethall, It has been some time since we last saw one other," said Sarne with a grin. "If I remember my grandfather and father let you live was that a mistake?" asked Sarne his tone defiant and angry. Sarne still had his shield up and in a thrusting stance with his sword resting on his shield.

Cooler heads prevailing, even temporarily, was a welcome sight for Leandros. The mages around him took a hesitant few more steps back as they gathered to their feet. One let out a sharp whiste that could be heard over the fighting.
Seeing their leader or at least someone of importance speaking with Sarne was enough to have them hold the position for the moment. The mages seemed a little lost for what was happening as well. They had the numbers to just overtake them, so why stop?"
"Keep your hands still and you will leave this shore with them." Leandros sheathed his halberd and stepped forward. The weight of his armor and his presence sending the mages back another few steps.
He is willing to take the risk for the moment with Sarne facing down their leader. The knight knelt down, placing a hand over one of the injured mages. A bit of healing energy radiated out, enough to mend the broken bones though this one would remain knocked out.
Preventing any major injuries was his only focus, some bruising and soreness would be a good reminder for the mistake made today. So would they few mages strewn about the sand that weren't so lucky and fell to their injuries.
Leandros kept an ear to the conversation. He was ready to continue fighting if need be, but it seemed Sarne was a bit more keyed into this than Leandros was.

The Archmage Ethall stroked his beard some while others even from the wall looked on. "I first thought you were Duke Sequoia. I can see now I am dealing with the young Lord Sequoia and Sir Aurthurian," Ethall commented looking at them both. "The information I got was wrong. Did not expect you here this is quite troublesome." Ethall added now stroking his beard again. some of the men stepped forward towards Sarne and Sir Aurthurian. Ethall raised his hand to stop them. "I see you all have a death wish do not be hasty these two will kill you if they have to," said Ethall to his men there.
"I heard about your grandfather, my condolences he was a man to be reckoned with even if we did not see the world in the same way. I assure you we had nothing to do with his death. it was not our organization we had nothing to do with it," explained Ethall now looking a little more relaxed. "I know you are a man of justice and honor. Two students from here attacked one of my students and almost killed him with no provocation. I am here seeking justice." stated Archmage Ethall with a semi-angry tone.
Sarne looked over to Sir Aurthurian and then back at Archmage Ethall "Write down their names if you know them and give them to Sir Aurthurian. If not I will have the senor students assemble here and you can print them out if you know what they look like." said Sarne still not letting his guard down.
Archmage Ethall stroked his beard and then signaled for a mage to come forward he had a black eye and other physical damage. "This is another student attack yesterday. witnesses said it was the same to from this Acadamy," explained Archmage Ethall.
Sarne sighed "I am not responsible for discipline at this academy but I will have the dean of discipline Lord Farmont present. Have your men leave you and the witness stay." Sarne was cut off when the Head Master and his staff arrived with reinforcements.
Archmage Ethall told his people to leave it was over There would be no more fighting today. After a moment Sarne turned to the Head Master "This is Archmage Ethall, two of his students, and was almost killed and it was an unprovoked attack on the students. He is here seeking justice for the attacks. Archmage Ethall has a witness present. I request that the senior students come out to be viewed to make sure this statement is true." explained Sarne to The Headmaster nodded his approval and started to get the students in question in formation.

"Asking blood to pay for blood is how the world gets to be in the place it is, and to do it over something so foolish as a fight between two adults? So much for lauded intelligence of the mages." Leandros helps one of the injured mages and hands them over to his friends.
Disputes between the two academys is no surprise, but for it to escalate to this level? This has the knight in a fury, a rare anger that many didn't think possible of the so called gentle giant. However, those who didn't know were about to learn the Lion of the Landing is no mere cub.
He stomps across the sand until he is towering over the archmage, "What you speak of is not justice, so I suggest you remove that word from your vocabulary or spend a few decades studying its meaning like you do your paltry tricks and spells. What has happened out here today was not for justice, it was for revenge. A wiser man would have brought this to the attention of the academy and had it handled like an adult."
"Why I-" The Archmage attempts to interrupt, but is simply talked over.
"What you instead did was act like a child, petulant and arrogant. You will stay here along with your mage and those you have named here for a proper trial. Not this blood thirsty charade you have put on."
During the speech, Gilder had collected the names and the students in question. The two were pushed out into the sand by the ranger as guards from Halberds Tip arrived, too late to stop anything, but at least they could provide a neutral party.
The archmage and those involved in this alleged fight were taken for separate questioning, while the other guards spoke with those at the beach. After giving his statement Leandros lets out a sigh as he looks over the scene.
"Sorry if I lost my composure Sarne, just hard to sit back when men like that speak as if they know what justice is....For one man's injury there are several dead on both sides....he wants to look upon that and call it justice. Sickening."

Watching Aurthurian yell at the Archmage made Saene crack a smile. Aurthurian was not wrong but Sarne wanted to calm both sides down so he just went with it. Both sides Sarne had a feeling were in the wrong somehow. Time would only tell before this got out of control again. Sarne knew the fighters guild was tied to the Acadamy and used to keep The Blessed Ones in check so there was a lot of anger there.
With the battle was over and the archmage and the headmaster talking Sanre took a sigh of relief. He looked around and for now, it seemed both sides were taking their wounded and people going their separate ways. Sarne stood and watched as things were going on making sure there was no more trouble.
Sarne looked at Aurthurian "You were not wrong for what you said Ser Aurthurian. I was just trying to get this to come to an end before more people got hurt or killed. So you can say I went with it and used their words to help calm everyone down. With some talking I knew we could save lives," explained Sarne with a grin. "Thanks for reminding me, not everyone had to die today. Let go to the grate hall and get an ale my treat," suggested Sarne with a slap on Aurthurian back.
