The Beanies managed to get their wagon ferried into Starlight City largely thanks to a friendly ship captain being a complete sucker for adorable little creatures such as themselves. It certainly helped that the Beanies had little to no resistance to being touched or hugged, so many cuddles were had like someone's childhood dream come true. There were also the awkward, disbelieving stares from the ship crew, but shh.
Anyway, the Beanies have arrived at port and had a tearful farewell with their newfound captain friend as the latter would be leaving shortly after unloading their shipped merchandise. Oh well, travels will always be filled by goodbyes. The Beanies quickly bounced back to normal and begun wandering around town for anything of interest. It was relatively late into the day, with the sun about one palm away from the horizon, so most of the day market stalls have begun wrapping up and the shouts of clearance discounts could be heard all over. Chili's eyes sparkled at the prospect of cheap ingredients, and Star and Goody had to restrain their overly giddy companion as usual.
Demony was as bored as ever, strolling along the unfamiliar paths behind its plush companions and playing nice since for better or for worse, they were on foreign lands and it would rather not be immediately antagonized. Not until it had more knowledge on this so-called Crescent Isles, at least. The Captain of the Fighter's Guild having his sights on it was already enough of a headache, was what its instincts said.

Calliope bounded down the street skipping happily as she was taken into the city to get some supplies with one of her village's druids. She wondered what it sounded like in a city as being deaf, she had never heard it before. Her yellow eyes took in everything around her however as her tail swayed excitedly. She however soon paused as she saw the bears and their fancy coat. The young tiefling girl had seen many things over the years but this was completely and utterly new to her. She thought a brief moment before getting out her journal and a quill before running over with a wave soon writing quickly before turning it to the bears hopefully. On the page in excited scribbles were the following, 'Hello! I am Calliope! Are you new to the city?' her tail swayed behind her like that of a hopeful and excited pup as she hoped they would answer

The Beanies were no strangers to sudden interactions out of nowhere, but unfortunately for their prospective new friend, the Beanies hadn't the slightest idea on how Charon's written language worked! The trio tilted their heads awkwardly as they hopelessly tried to decipher whatever the yellow-eyed fellow in front of them was trying to relay.
Some disjointed memories of what the Beanies used to do in scenarios where they couldn't speak the language of others popped into their minds. They looked at each other, waved their hands at the stranger to indicate friendliness, and Star then pointed at the quill pen the stranger was holding, followed by pointing at the journal she'd written the text on, hoping to obtain permission to write on paper. Though just in case it was merely a matter of the other party being too shy to verbalize their thoughts to the Beanies, they decided to introduce themselves anyway. "Hello! I'm Star!" Star jumped up into the air, arms and legs spread wide and flapping their little wings before landing just fine. "Goody!" Goody waved their right hand widely, their body bending slightly to the left to emphasize the waving. "Chili!" Chili raised both hands, spreading them in a V-shape. """Demony!""" The Beanies each gestured both of their arms to the shadowy creature at the back who remains unamused throughout this entire exchange thus far. "Also, we're sorry but we can't read," the Beanies ended their introduction hanging their heads down in shame.

The druid caught up noticing the scene and pat calliopes head signing to her what was being said. Calliope nodded and put the book away since it wouldn't help and signed to the druid "She says Hello I am Calliope. I am Meril" she added gesturing to herself after translating. Calliope smiled brightly at the creatures signing again for Meril to translate "She wants to know if you are new to the city. We come for supplies every so often and have yet to see you before" the druid remarked as Calliope was thankful for the druids help

The Beanies observed as the two strangers communicated with gestures and wondered if the one with the journal was hard of hearing or functionally deaf or something. The other one was interpreting for them though, so it seemed they could just communicate as normal. """Hi Calliope! Hi Meril!""" The Beanies greeted in unison, waving their arms energetically. "We just arrived in Starlight City and we're touring around the city right now," Star replied to their question. Demony was half-tempted to spit out a furball in disgust towards the sappy scene unfolding in front of them if not for the fact that it hadn't any organs to speak of in the first place.

Calliope smiled as things were relayed to her and she looked at them curiously before signing for merit to relay which of course they did “she says it is nice to meet you all” the Druid “we are also visiting currently though it’s frequent for us” they replied as calliope beamed happily rocking from heel to toe as she awaited their next reply. She was so fascinated by the cute creatures

The Beanies have picked up that perhaps Calliope wanted to be their friend, but maybe just a tad bit too shy to declare that outright. 'Let's be friends!' was not exactly a common phrase to use in interactions until they got to know each other better. She did seem to be a young child, and the living teddy bears had it engraved in their very souls that they were extremely likely to attract the attention of various children across the spectrum, for better or for worse. Still though, the Beanies were not about to say no to an opportunity to make a new friend, so they opted to take the initiative this time around.
"Maybe Ms. Meril and Ms. Calliope could bring us around while picking up supplies? We're sure it'd be more fruitful than us wandering around randomly!" Star suggested with smiley eyes. That they frequented the city often enough should mean they knew how to better save money than the Beanies, after all, and probably give them decent food suggestions too! None of that crossed Goody and Chili's minds, but Demony did not miss the calculations that went into the statement, and wondered once again why their storybook title was The Wholesome Trio's Beanieventures when Star, for one, had a pragmatic craftiness to them that was implied in their tales.
