Vail watches as his attempted redirect is successful, knocking the nearby Deeptusk into the side of another. As he steadies himself, the ash lander looks to allies, but soon realizes his folly. The glittery figures he could previously make out as adventurers have been replaced with amorphous clouds, along with Deeptusk he had just deflected. The ash-lander's eyes widen as he feels his blood run hot, his rage building as his senses begin to fail him. This wasn’t the same as before, there was no numbness spreading through him, nor any loss of his faculties, just a pure anger at every living thing around him. His eyes catch a glimmer upon his gauntlets and he finally notices the soapy substance latched to him, figuring it must have come from the Deeptusk he struck. They aren’t attacking us of their own will, whatever that voice is, it’s…Vail turns in a panic, looking for any way to put distance between himself and the others, when a distant light catches his eye. It stood out from the simmering glitter, offering a warmth in place of the unease. With nowhere else to turn, the ash-lander takes off, darting towards the light despite the sheer number of beings waiting nearby. In his haste, Vail nearly stumbles when finally hits the aura given off by the light, caught off guard by the sudden cleansing of his ailment. The sight that awaits him is far from what he expected, however; a whirling sandstorm, in the middle of a grassy field. Whatever was going on over here, was far above his pay grade. He begins to turn back the way he came when his eyes catch the light one more time. The ash-lander squints, catching a familiar silhouette among the crowd in the distance, a pair of fox ears he’d recognize anywhere. “Guess I owe you another one doc.” He mutters under his breath as he turns back to the significantly less chaotic battlefield. Racing back to Gwen and the others, Vail focuses on the center Deeptusk, having realized its unnatural state in comparison to the other two now that his vision has cleared. Can’t touch them huh? We’ll see about that. With a deep breath, Vail focuses inward [1] before unleashing several blows in the space between him and the center creature, releasing waves aimed towards its side [2].
SUMMARY: Realizing the effects on the soapy substance Vail leaves the rear flank and heads towards the light produced by Kvasir's Vestige of Light on the right flank. Post by Javal Zarrias on Jul 21, 2024 22:56:57 GMT -5
Javal holds his water whip with all his might, thankful to see that Mikael was only knocked over and not demolished under the creature’s weight. Luckily for the two Mikael’s spells made contact and worked, seemingly changing the creature's attitude, calming it down, and leaving it in a less aggressive state.
Quickly staring into the beast’s eyes and hearing it huff at him Javal quickly moves his hands apart and to his side, the long water tendril disappearing and letting go of the deeptusk's back leg. He unroots himself from the ground and rushes over to the real deeptusk quickly bowing his head and explaining himself, “Sorry friend deeptusk you were really angry and were about to bulldoze through my friend I had to hold you back for his safety”, not even thinking about the fact the creature probably didn’t even understand him.
He turns his back and sprints towards the rest of the battle going on in the front flank yelling back, “Sorry to leave so soon Sir Deeptusk but the sound of justice is calling my name”.
The blue fellblood hurries forth spotting his good friend Taki deciding to back her and the kenku lady. Something was off about the deeptusks very different looking from the nice one he and Mikael calmed down. he couldn’t tell what was strange about what it was whether it was plant-like anatomy or just its general bad vibe
Nonetheless, he pushes his curious thoughts to the side and jumps into action emboldened by and pumped up by the unknown person’s singing voice. He swings Theseus back and throws it towards the creature’s limb hoping to cut through it as his katana whirls through the air (1). Not stopping at that, Javal gathers water into his throat, opening his mouth and shooting a thin pressurized beam of very sharp water at the creature's body (2).
Right behind him Nadia reaches into his bag and pulls out her liege’s ray bow using it for herself. Pulling back at its golden visage she shoots an arrow of light straight at the monster’s head.

Front Bursting from the ground, a plant that takes on the same strange hues as the grass around it spikes upwards under the faketusk. The vines coil around the sharp leaves and thorns that sprout out, unharmed. It seems that these things are not harmed by earth damage based spells. Those around Marion Aurea continue to feel their strength empowered, but also feel more hardy against effects that would continually harm them or stop them in their tracks. The pacified Deeptusk sniffs at Javal Zarrias with its trunk before the fellblood runs off to assist Rena Brighteyes and @shitakibo . It then looks to Mikael Mooreson who is being swarmed by small critters, it reaches over and starts searching the fellblood’s pockets for snacks. Rena Brighteyes raises a wall of bones from the soil around them. The remains from wars fought long ago rise to arms once more and take the brunt of the slam. She summons another guard to service as Whistle, the other Wind, and Chime all unleash icy attacks against the creature. The ice freezes the sap, causing it to crackle and become brittle. Javal Zarrias ’s sword slashes through one of the whipping tendrils extending from the faketusk’s facade before following up with a blast of water. The water clears away some of the oozing sap that flies through the air and the creatures screeches as the light arrow sinks through the illusionary shell and illuminates the mass of vines and roots underneath it. @shitakibo dodges underneath the strange creature, avoiding its strikes. Her animal companions leave her side for the time being, likely for the best as the shaman attempts to lure the monster her way. The sounds of the bells ringing counters the whispers, freeing all those on the FRONT flank from being lured by the strange voices. While the creature was readying itself to attack all those around it, the shaman’s dance distracts it and draws all its ire. It raises three vine-like arms from its back and brings all three down on @shitakibo . Meanwhile, the fake Deeptusk’s attack sweeps into C'Leena Thomas , clipping them and sending them flying through the air until they hit the ground a ways from Beak . Before it can pursue the downed adventurer, Luna slams into the sides of the faketusk, equally empowered by the glow radiating from Marion Aurea . The owlbear’s claws tear through the vines and roots, causing more of the black tar-like sap to ooze out. Beak phases through the sweeping attack herself, avoiding damage. She throws herself forward to strike through the illusion, the cold-iron sending a rippling across the illusion until it breaks and exposes the strange mass of vines and roots beneath it. It looks like it’s about to retaliate when it also hears the chime of @shitakibo ’s bells. Lured, it turns away from the owlbear and skeleton and moves to close the gap between itself and the shaman. Left The faketusk closest to Lord Sarne Sequoia slams its tusks into Sarne, Euros, Nordic, and Naesala before it maneuvers out of the way of the string of light, moving oddly agile for something looking so bulky from the outside. It, however, does not escape from the group’s follow-up assault. Lord Sarne Sequoia ’s beam attack blasts a hole clean through it and rips apart the illusion covering it. The light also mends some of the damage they all received from the earlier attack. The attacks rip the creature apart piece by piece and black tar-like sap coats the blades of the weapons that come into contact with it. The creature is having a hard time keeping a cohesive form, looking like it’s on its last legs. In a last-ditch effort to thwart its assailants, it grows spikes and explodes out in all directions. Lord Sarne Sequoia ’s light binding spell takes hold of the faketusk battering Disaster. The light holds it in place as ice coats its ‘legs’ and then it’s set ablaze by the large golem. It writhes in pain and flails about wildly, slapping at the golem more. The real Deeptusk pinned by Kalaf trumpets in distress as the drake’s teeth rip into the back of its neck. It starts bleeding profusely, the crimson liquid slicking down its hide as its legs scramble beneath it. The drake leaves, but the wounds it inflicted have gravely wounded the Deeptusk. Poe is quick to end the creature’s suffering with her blades. Lady Kamille Verlithax and her drake head to the center of the battlefield to the center of the battlefield. She unleashes a fireball transmuted into lightning and thunder. It crashes down to the earth and a cacophonous boom echoes across the entire battlefield. The whispers that plagued the area fall silent, their influence fading from the afflicted’s ears. The projected voice rings out once more. “Clever, little mageling. But will your little tricks really be enough?”The warping in the center of the of the battlefield starts to expand outwards. It’s unclear what effect this will have at this time. Right Many things happen at once. Shaa Rhunn casts a spell on the faketusk which starts to levitate out of the sand pit. Cypress Springleap blocks its attacks with a stoney wall, and Morrigan Moonweaver evades being plastered across the ground by cartwheeling into an extradimensional space which is quickly picked up by the tornado which also catches the sand and the weightless faketusk. The faketusk flails and slaps at the minotaur before it spirals up higher and out of reach from the ground. The winds knock into Shaa Rhunn . Bubbles gets a few bites into the faketusk before the wind catches it, the tornado buffetting the small drake as Morrigan Moonweaver ’s hat is whisked up high above the battlefield where Morrigan Moonweaver and Hylltywyll can get a birdseye view of the chaos erupting across it. They would witness Lady Kamille Verlithax ’s actions and the subsequent expansion of the weird warping at the center. Butfellow is buffeted by the tornado, but they manage to keep the faketusk in place just long enough for Lady Astrid Stormstone to swoop in on Arcus - shielded from the winds - and land some attacks against the faketusk. The combined damage and tearing wind rip apart the illusion, revealing the mass of vines and roots. The hit also sends it spiraling towards the FRONT. It does try to make one retaliatory swipe at Arcus and Lady Astrid Stormstone before they’re out of reach. Kvasir Sigurrós raises a barrier of light to protect himself and a few others who were close to him from the tornado’s force. Their arrow of light flies into the tornado and lands one more hit before the creature is out of their range. Natsunats-Shun manages to avoid being blown away into the tornado and the rain washes away the soapy film from the real Deeptusk they cling to. As they shout out to the annoyed sigh, there’s a long pause before there’s a response. “I hunger…” The two real Deeptusks that have been freed from the effects of the soapy film look around confused and distressed, pawing at the ground and looking for the best way to get far from the conflict and natural disaster ripping across the battlefield. Rear Gwendolyn Mystwud dodges to the side and avoids the Deeptusks’s feet as they come down. Her maul connects with the body and sends bursts of fire and light up into the creature, illuminating it from the inside and revealing a writhing mass of vines and roots hiding behind the illusory exterior. The legs of the creature wobble and bend in unnatural ways as the body seems to collapse in on itself before the illusion fails to contain it any longer. Gwendolyn Mystwud , having attacked its underbelly, finds herself collapsed ontop of, her armor taking the brunt of the crushing force. The visage of the Deeptusk breaks and before the group is an amalgamation of plantlife, tinged with streaks of purple, red, and blue all contorting around in an attempt to pull itself back into a more recognizable shape, also attempting to pull Gwendolyn Mystwud along with it. Mori manages to deflect the rightmost Deeptusk’s attack, and Milli and Jess’s magic strikes through the smoke cloud to scatter across its tough hide. The Deeptusk sweeps its tusks across the ground to try and gouge the maid on the ground near it. Fish the Tinkerer focuses on the weird magic swirling around in the air. Threads of the formulae arcanum float around like wisps of silk being unravelled and stitched back together in strange ways. New magic unfamiliar to Charon is flowing into the realm from the center of the battlefield from some unseen source. Fish the Tinkerer ’s magic tries to peer through the veil and is able to ping that there is definitely something - or somethings - obscured by the warped magic towards the center of the chaos. Lady Keyke Runi ’s fire needle pierces the vines which recoil in pain from the flames. Their attempts to clean off the leftmost deeptusks isn’t particularly gentle, but as the the soapy film washes off the creature and the healing effects of the colorful woolful sticking to it take effect, the rage in its eyes starts to fade. Spooked by the spells and attacks still flying around through the air, it lets out a trumpet as it moves to flee the battlefield. Vail moves to a different flank then returns as the rage fades from his mind. He unleashes a barrage of strikes from a distance that further damage the creature. Pieces of it go flying off and it is clearly struggling to hold itself together. It forms up a number of thorns from its form and shoots them out like spikes, scattering them across the rear flank.
NOTE: Please indicate where you are at the END OF YOUR TURN on the battlefield (FRONT, REAR, LEFT FLANK, RIGHT FLANK).

The world became a blur for a moment as C'Leena is slammed some distance away. She skids across the ground, coming to a stop perhaps a dozen or so meters from where she was moments prior. Gritting her teeth, she stands herself up. It's not the worst injury she's gotten - not by far, and she's most definitely not out of commission. Not yet.
The brambles spread across the ground are new, and so is the glitter covering everything. Where in the hell did the glitter even come from? Glitter exists even here? Glitter was probably one of the few things she hated with a violent passion back in her old home, but nooo, someone just HAD TO INVENT IT. C'Leena will have many harsh words with the dumbass who figured that out and the crime they've committed against this realm.
Shaking her head and shoving away the burning hate against some unknown individual, a pair of brilliant white wings sprout from her back and launch her into the air, immediately headed straight for the creature that bashed her in the ribs. She's almost like a blur, coming in and lacerating the back of the creature as she swoops in, then back out and upward.
As she ascends, the bruises and various scratches across her body begin to mend, dulling the throbbing pain gradually. She scans the battlefield, noticing that one of them seems to be passive and.. Scrounging around in the pockets of somebody. Is that a real Deeptusk?? The questions pile up in her mind, but she has no time to seek answers.
God who the FUCK invented glitter!?

Post by Gwendolyn Mystwud on Jul 25, 2024 5:26:32 GMT -5
This was getting annoying, Gwendolyn thought as the massive tangle of inky vines in the shape of a deeptusk crushed her from above. Whatever the source of this corruption was obviously dangerous. It would be easier for everyone here if she just took care of it right now. There were more, pressing, matters at the moment however. The breastplate she was wearing had cracked, and now this creature was trying to drag her inside of it. Annoying. This whole situation was annoying, and beginning to remind her of the Vulcadreus incident. Just as a wicked tendril wraps around her fancy boots, Gwendolyn’s body adopts a dim corona of protective magic. Siathriah bade her into the creature, only to enhance what was to come. It was against her better judgement, but the exile queen's commands were not to be disobeyed. Millicent and Jess were caught off guard by the spray of needles in their direction. Spikes peppered their uniforms, leaving cuts and gashes. "FFFUCK" Milli shouted, before conjuring another lightning bolt. She notices the glow of her master being swallowed up, and decides to aim it at the creature not containing her employer. The crack of thunder brings Jess back to reality as she patted the cut on her arm, also lobbing in an Ice spike at whatever Milli was firing at. Mostly just spite at this moment. Millicent grabbed at the wound on her abdomen, before hauling Jess by the apron towards the cover of some nearby bush. When they looked up, their master's maul was there, floating and slowly spinning along it's shaft toward the center of the anomaly. What was even more concerning, was that it was beginning to glow with majestic power. Queer tendrils of light and darkness swirled around it’s shaft as it collected energy, sending strands of hair wafting as though a localized maelstrom was beginning to form. (4) Siathriah sat an invisible crown perched upon Gwendolyn’s ashen hair. Hackles raised, six eyes wide open to fully power the staff. The patron of the Mystwud family line was funneling an intense amount of magic from her reserves. An incursion from the Land of Wonder was an abhorrent affront to her authority towards the natural realm. Destruction had been the only option from the start. If a few measly adventurers get caught in the crossfire, oh well. The Deeptusk assaulting Mori was persistent, crashing through her impromptu barrier with ease. Now was the time to use the Tsuji family traditional combat tactic, not seen outside of the Moonglade dojos for decades. Hiding. She stamped her foot, causing a small, Mori sized hole to open below her, and she fell in. Like a noble Smopher retreating from the wandering hungry Sigheyna, Mori retreated underground, and hoped the agitated creature would simply lose interest eventually. Someone or something is on the otherside of this distortion field, someone who thinks they can hide from Fish. Well now the bird was just determined to prove whoever it was wrong for having the audacity to challenge Fish. Congratulations idiot, you signed your own death warrant. Fish watches others get tossed back from the field after trying to physically pass through. The other side of the field isn't clear meaning Fish cannot easily blink into the field and teleportation was a risk. Would the bounceback be more severe if they tried to magically bypass the barrier? Fish was not keen on finding out. They could try and burrow underneath, but they don't have the magic for that. They especially do not have the time to do that. So, what could they do? Fish pulls a pair of goggles out from under their scarf, clicking the lens into place. A few twists of the lenses and adjustments dial in the magic of the arcane glasses. With a new magical sight, Fish stares at the field trying to get a sense of what exactly this is. It doesn't seem like any magic that Fish is familiar with. This was going to take a lot more magical knowledge than they had. Fish didn't need to look far to find Aunt Kamille, Kalaf was a pretty easy thing to track. Fish blinks out of sight just in time to miss the thorns headed towards them and appears beside Lady Kamille Verlithax atop Kalaf. They look up to Kamille with their signature blank stare. "Fish has found the distortion is magical, but it is not a spell. Someone is obscured by the field, but Fish does not have the necessary tools to undo it. Fish believed Aunt Kamille was the best option to figure it out." Fish's taloned feet gripped onto the edges of one of Kalaf's scales to stay in place as they flew.

Right. Now we're getting somewhere. The... thing that dared pass itself off as a Deeptusk is fully exposed, its illusions stripped bare by the cold iron plates she'd so forcefully introduced to its outer facade.
For once, she wasn't fighting off the back foot, either. @shitakibo seems to have diverted its attention, so Beak doesn't have to worry about dodging blows while planning her counters at the same time. Instead, the creature seems to be attempting to turn and move away, leaving Beak behind entirely. Oh, no, you don't. Not so fast, dearie.
The creature's true form appears to be little more than a giant writhing pile of vines, each of which bleed... whatever that black stuff is she's seen on some of the others' weapons. She still doesn't trust it, but she has to admit that getting their weapons coated hasn't seemed to do anything yet. That doesn't mean she particularly cares to find out if getting it on her body does anything, though, so she has a precaution in mind.
Pausing and concentrating, she stretches out her arms at low angles on either side of her body, just as solid stone appears to materialize around them from the shoulders down.1 Her legs as well, starting from her thighs. Her weapons remain untouched, but if what she's about to do gets messy, that should at least protect her limbs. This is supposed to be a technique for the most elite warriors of her clan to channel the very earth's fury into their attacks... she can only hope that her ancestors and old masters won't look unkindly on her for instead using their sacred teachings as glorified safety gloves.
Once she's prepared, she rushes forward. Closing the distance once more with ease, she lays out a full-on flurry of offense, using every bit of speed she'd trained for to unleash as many hits with both of her weaponized gloves as she can.2 The time to worry about getting that sap on her blades if she uses the clawed one has passed; this is a vine monster and vines are for cutting. And yet more cold iron with the other hand, lest the thing forget whom it's dealing with.

Mikael looked to the deeptusk surprised and ushered it off hopefully with a snack or two if it doesn’t count against actions for the snacks. He then looked to the others and summoned his displaced beast from its scroll “Chesh help the others please!” He called after it before moving as far as he could towards shitakobi hoping to help them as soon as he could. He was careful to avoid the small creatures at his feet as he moved.
Meanwhile, Darius flew low over the creature the other animals were attacking and attempted to hit it with lightening. He was still a baby drake however so who knew if it would work or not. On the ground, Chesh yowled and ran forward biting into the strange creatures vines with its fang. He attacked viciously. Finally on the other side of the creature, Luna the owl bear stood and swung her claws again, standing on her back legs with a screech as she brought them down. The three animals fought in tandem, most likely a strange spectacle.
It was true mikael and his creatures weren’t typically used in combat but they would do their best to assist however they could. Mikael was determined to get everyone out of this in one piece. He was set on that idea. No person or creature would be ended today except whatever attacked them of its own volition as he knew he couldn’t change their minds like the plant creatures. He hoped the others around the bubble were fairing good as well though he couldn’t see them to check on them or anything similar to that

Post by Morrigan Moonweaver on Jul 27, 2024 17:36:58 GMT -5
An earthen wall with cement of magic and primordial stones constructed itself from the earth beneath Morrigan’s feet – the saving grace granting them a spare second to put distance between themselves and the enraged monster. They’d no idea who cast the spell saving them, so they settled for blowing a kiss haphazardly in the air and calling out, “Blessings and riches, friends! Blessings and riches.” Yes, their hard work was much appreciated. Of course, they were unsure whether the wall would hold, but they did not have any desire to stick around for much longer and find out. As they whisked themselves into the air… But then, of course, the creature started floating. Floating! Bubbles launched himself into the air and chomped into the illusory creature, earning a mouthful of plant and a windy surprise for his troubles. The little Drake recoiled in surprise and took to the air, protectively curling around his master in the hat. At the same time, Morrigan pulled themselves out and clambered onto his back, surveying the battlefield from above. Not before receiving a mental tirade for their troubles. "HUH? MAKE MYSELF USEFUL? DO YOU MEAN AS USEFUL AS YOU, DANCING ON TOP OF AN ELEPHANT AND THEN FLYING AWAY IN A HAT!?" “Precisely! You understand.” From up high it would be difficult for Hylltywyll to glean the coy smile that danced across their face at the prospect of evoking such a reaction. Given that the little creature had been the one to magically transmute them into some ugly slab of living wood and extorted them until Morrigan promised bribes in the form of jewelry and shiny trinkets, they could not bring themselves to feel especially bad at the little guy’s irritation. Not to mention, they felt it was warranted, since they were the one who’d been able to get a clear picture of the battlefield. And from this high up – if Morrigan were a more sentimental being – they might even call it peaceful. The elegance of the moving parts, each prong approaching the center, blossomed almost akin to a flower. It was difficult for Morrigan to make out every single individual, though they could follow the motion – the flow of battle, the giant four-legged beasts assaulting people on all sides, not unlike a virus deploying toxic killers to protect itself from the body’s defenses. Below, they spotted a wall of pure light, magic so familiar they might even say they knew it as well as their own – or, well, as close as they could ever come to knowing magic, to feeling alive. Kvasir. Protecting others from the storm they’d summoned. It was… rare that Morrigan felt regret (because who had time for that?), but they did wince somewhat at the destruction brought on by their own dramatic escape. The consequences of one’s own actions. A novel concept. “I’ll take care of that in a second.”First was getting a scope of the battlefield – what they were dealing with. Morrigan did not imagine that these were to be the only threats their… enemy? Threw at them. Come to think of it, the charlatan was not entirely sure what they were even supposed to be fighting here. They’d popped the bubble, seemingly taken care of the threat to King’s Valley, as the last of the Wildabeasts were either slain or calmed. At least, that was how it appeared on the surface. But when playing games with the fae, nothing was ever as it seemed. Below, something stirred. “Is that Lady Kamille?” Morrigan murmured, almost to themselves, as if they didn’t have an unwanted passenger tagging along in the recesses of their mind. “She always does enjoy stealing the show.” The way she manipulated the ambient energy in the air was almost effortless – a one-woman concerto of mayhem. Within the center of the battlefield, she amassed primordial lightning and thunder, a BOOM that rattled them to their very core, even through the earplugs. The ensuing silence was deafening… her spell, a roar that had rendered the heavens themselves mute. Morrigan still did not risk taking out their ear plugs for the time being. There was no telling when the whispers would return and enthrall everyone under their spell, and there was only one person Morrigan would allow themselves to be charmed by. Whatever Kamille had done, it failed to dispel the magic in the center of the battlefield. The hairs on the back of Morrigan’s arms stood on end – their skin prickled, disquiet creeping up the base of their spine. Despite the summer’s heat, they shivered. [P1] Magic. And it was growing. “That is… an unneeded development. But not unexpected.” Morrigan murmured, concern taking root in the base of their skull. The mana-stained glass spectacles perched on their nose gave them little insight as to what the shimmering magic meant, save that it was potent. They recoiled with a hiss, turning their gaze away from the barrier. There was no doubting that it was powerful. For someone with the mana curse thrumming in their veins, it was – it felt like a blind man’s first view being the sun itself. “Fuck! That’s powerful.”There had to be someone casting this, right? The one behind this damned voice which had wormed its way into the back of Morrigan’s mind, the one behind summoning these monsters and creating the bubble? Ambient magic was one thing, but these incidents had been created with intention. They were not random circumstance. And if they existed, they could be countered. And in being Magic’s bane, Morrigan could. Okay. Tornado problem, first. Morrigan pulled another Candy out from their bag and popped it in their mouth once Bubbles dropped them off near the center and they were certain that the wind had carried the enraged monster over to the flank on their left and safely away from their friends. [1] As the enchantment took root around their own body, the winds would die out, leaving an enraged Deeptusk with another party – making it someone else’s problem and therefore not their own. But at least they wouldn’t have to deal with a storm on top of it. There. Don’t say I never did anything for anybody! Now it was time for the real problem at hand. They traipsed closer to the center, the core which they could not Know – that which their mortal eyes could not see. If there was truly someone hiding inside, an enemy behind all this, then Morrigan would not be fool enough to fight him on his own terms, within his own territory. But they could attempt to draw him out. Nimble fingers twirled a gold coin, flipping it about the knuckle before grasping it between thumb and forefinger and flicking it to the ground in front of the magical almost-barrier. [2] The coin hit the ground and multiplied, doubling upon itself and doubling upon itself, until they’d effectively created a pile of gorgeous, glittering, enticing money. All higher beings were ruled by avarice. Greed. Want. What did this creature desire? “Oh, mister fairy! I’ve left an offering at your front door… it would be rude of you to decline, no?” Their voice was honey and false promises. The fair folk were not the only ones who could play sweet and charming.

Rena curses as she does her best to shake the glitter from her feathers, the lich glancing aside and letting letting out an angry hiss as she sees the extra Faketusk drop from the tornado’s grasp…the silver eyed crow grumbles softly to herself, then turns her attention back to the more immediate problem… … Rena cracks her neck, fishing out and tossing the final egg of engraved stone toward her children and siblings, one last pulse of power conjuring her final sibling’s shell of bones, Hum’s copper eye lights quickly scanning her surroundings before the skeleton crow settles into a defensive stance near her niece, Chimes. Chimes, meanwhile, darts in to slam her Glacier Hammer into the side of the faketusk that had attempted to attack her mother, frost and ice exploding outward a little ways out from the impact sight. Wind fires another bolt at the same faketusk, the projectile gaining a coating of ice as his Frost Ballista sends it lancing out to drive into the thing’s vegetable ‘flesh’. Wind keeps to her golden eyed nephew’s side, the skeleton’s rose gold eye lights hard and sharply focused as she keeps her head on a swivel…that expanding distortion field could be a serious problem… Whistle darts in, the little crow’s ruby eyes flashing with caustic, infernal light as she slashes her Icicle Blades along the side of the same Faketusk. Loci keeps to Whistle’s side, his emerald eye lights flicking about in anticipation of some incoming threat as he guards his niece… Rena's wall of shadows and bone remains where it was, tendrils of shadow and talons of bone lashing out at anything and anyone that makes contact with it.

Hylltywyll seethed at Morrigan's provocations. He could practically feel their coy smile, but he wouldn't let them get the best of him. He couldn't believe they were using the mental connection he made against him so much. He'd make sure to get back at the annoying Fellblood before this was over. And looking through their eyes down at the entirety of the battlefield, he got an idea as he spotted some familiar faces. "Oh, my student is here! And she's already causing so much chaos." Hylltywyll spoke in Morrigan's head gleefully, his mischievous smile almost as audible as the cackle he suddenly let out while standing with Kvasir and Cypress behind the fox man's wall of light. His smile was mostly hidden behind his mask, except for the gleam in his eyes. He wove another mental connection between him and the student he hadn't seen in some time, feeling it take root like an orchid in a tree and let him see through her eyes and hear through her ears. It had certainly been a while since he had randomly met Kamille, the Witch of Moonglade at the Mage's Guild and taught her a little about light magic. It was well worth it for the exchanged reading lessons, and even just being able to honestly refer to himself as the Master of the Witch of Moonglade was such a reward. Of course, he could also call himself her student, but that was less fun. "It's been a while, hasn't it?" Hylltywyll's voice sounded from the back of Kamille's mind. "Have you put that light magic to good use?"
While he chatted with Kamille and examined things through Morrigan's point of view, he also took a good look at the battlefield with his own eyes. It was apparent things had taken quite a turn. The fake deeptusk was somebody else's problem now and he was fine with that, but the two real ones looked like they just didn't want to be here anymore. Without the mental influence of whatever that soapy residue was, they were scared and no longer aggressive. He was sure the big Minotaur or the little armored girl could deal with them. He had other things to do. With a quick muttering of some arcane formulae, he placed some protection over his mind as the aura around Kvasir began to fade. There was something here he didn't like. The whispering voices, the residue on the deeptusks. There was a lot of mind-altering going on here and he wouldn't allow himself to be caught in them. The handprint also offered some protection, but what it offered was limited. No matter how many people were here to fight whatever was here, Hylltywyll's first priority would always be his own life. Still, that didn't mean he couldn't be helpful to others. "These handprints allow whoever has one to speak to each other mentally." He explained to the two others who had one in their minds, pointing to the one on himself, the little black handprint standing out on the front of his blue poncho. He wasn't sure how much of its abilities either of them could tell just from having it on them, but it would be better to make sure they knew this information. "I can also speak mentally with that annoying Fellblood and the girl flying around with a hammer." he continued. "They also help protect you, but only from magic, and only a couple times, so don't be as stupid as that idiot up there." He said, pointing up at Morrigan.

Kalaf seemed to understand what was going to happen, as he rushed to make a sharp turn to go back from where they came. The crack of the lightning made him close his eyes; the pressure of the thunder against his ears made the drake roar in disgust. While not painful, the electricity left an uncomfortable tickling feeling beneath his scales. He hated that. For a moment, Kamille looked triumphant. It worked! It worked! I can't believe it- Her victory was short lived, as the voice that resonated in her mind once again carried a promise. Kamille looked over her shoulder to see the expanding warping zone. Yeah, she'd better whip up another trick real soon. Misfit, what happened when you got close to this thing? We were physically turned away from it.
Collect as much information as you can.
Think, Kamille, think. She'd bet the same would happen if she threw one of the gargoyles or any other minion to crash against it. Counterspell? Unlikely, it was not a spell she knew. Think...!
Hektor's eyes dart around anxiously. Poe ran to finish off the Deeptusk, jumping and rolling off of it once she was done and the beast was dead. Hektor could see it clearly now: that one was a real Deeptusk, and whatever it was that the fancy knight and Disaster were fighting off, was something else entirely... And thinking of Disaster, Hektor noticed the golem was having a hard time controling that... thing. Before Poe could reach him and grab his elbow like a child (well, he was a child, but-) Hektor ran towards Disaster, holding firmly onto the staff Kamille gave him with one hand, and reaching for the black feather he had on a cord around his neck [1]. SISTER! WE NEED A CIRCLE OF LIFE! NOW!
Kamille's train of thought was invaded by a scream that she recognized immediately. Kalaf was making the way back to the group already, so when she felt she was within range of her staff, she raised her hands and casted what Hektor asked of her without a second thought [2]. Well, well, well! Looked like the boy was indeed listening when she was giving him the pre-game speech. Even so, a hint of worry washed over her: if they were asking for that spell, something grave was happening… From the distance she couldn’t tell the details, but… She needed to go back to them.
Hektor rushed to Disaster's side, hoping it to be quick enough to protect the golem, raising the staff as a familiar surge of power flowed through it [3]: a gentle warmth spilled in all directions, white flames exploding outward from the retorted staff. Flames that didn't burn, only warded off any harm that came their way, not scorching the ground and grass beneath them, just licking at it harmlessly. He didn't even notice when Poe happened at his side; nor did he notice her look that said “We’ll talk when we get home”. Poe couldn’t give him that much of a hard time because the lad acted fast, and she recognized that was a good idea on his end, so much that she shouted over to Sarne. “LORD SARNE! EVERYONE! COME CLOSE! NOW!” The one very much unaware of his imminent demise was Disaster himself, so much that he looked rather surprised when the thing before him lashed out, and there was no pain. The surprise didn’t keep him from trying to throw a punch at it with its gigantic wooden fist [4], keeping himself inside that curiously warm ring of fire that kept him safe. Poe positioned herself by Disaster's side, taking special care as to remain inside the circle and trying to have a go at the creature with her blade [5,6].
Her head was spinning, she looked over her shoulder to see the weird looking warp effect getting bigger behind her, and no other solution came to mind while she was also having to worry about Hektor and Poe and Sarne and- When she turned forward on Kalaf's saddle, for a terrifying second, she didn’t understand what she was seeing. Her heart leaped in her chest, and a second later, understanding sank in. She could cry. “ OH MY GOD FISH! YOU'RE HERE FISH! DID YOU KNOW THAT I LOVE YOU?!” Without any restraint, the Witch grabbed the criminal bird into a tight hug - the ring they carried would surely be displaying the most unusual range of emotions that Kamille was going through, in rapid succession, something known only to Fish the Tinkerer since she was wearing a mask. The happiness from seeing Fish there overwhelmed her so much that she almost forgot they were trying to convey something to her. Kamille straightened up. “ Fish, I have no idea what to do! I don’t think Counterspell will work! Mischief and Misfit just turned away when they approached it. Do you have any ideas? I'm ready to send Disaster into the area soon and see what happens. We have to at least see what's going on behind this thing - whether this is a ward or an illusion… or a portal. We could- ARGH!” For a moment, she thought it was the entity behind that wall to be reaching out directly in her mind. To her surprise, it was none other than… “ HYLL?! YOU'RE HERE TOO?!?! Where are you? What are you doing?!? We need to figure out how to burst this bubble! You should've seen the Circle of Life I just casted, just like you taught me! You'd be proud! I'm sure a dark fairy as magnificent as you will have some idea of what we can do!” Hylltywyll was there too! That seemed to boost her hope even more! Surely a dark fairy would have some ideas on how to deal with the fae, right?! ...Right?! And then, turning to Fish, she pulled up what looked like an inkwell. “ Fish, there's this new cool magic I'm learning. If you allow me to put a mark on you, it will protect you from a couple of spells, and when I get one for me, we'll be able to communicate too!” Should Fish agree to it, Kamille would open the inkwell and motion in the air: the blob of ink that floated out remained in the air for just a second, before shaping the image of a feather that would search for Fish's hand to sink in. First, scorching red; then, so black as to fade away between Fish's own feathers [7]. Kalaf would not shy away from making his own choices: as he reached the group once more, flames spilled from his gullet, aiming to scorch Disaster's opponent and fully taking advantage on the fact he had his back turned to them [8]. Misfit kept flying around, watching what the others were doing. Vines lash out at Astrid and Arcus from the haplessly floating creature, and Astrid manages to knock one mass away with her smaller hammer, deflecting it away from herself, [1] but she’s unable to keep a lower vine from striking Arcus where she can’t reach. Luckily, the armor she made for him deflects the blow. [2] Below, Buttfellow releases the water whip to let the floating Deepfake sail towards the front flank, but he’s unable to move out of the water of the tornado. The golden aura around him bursts, but the golem otherwise remains unharmed. [3]With the immediate danger out of their way, Astrid takes a look around and sees Morrigan heading for the center. Whatever they do dissipates the tornado – Thank Avasha! – and it gives Astrid enough time to breathe and take in their surroundings. The two real Deeptusks might still be struggling with the sand pit, but they aren’t hostile anymore. Most of the others around the battlefield seem fine too, except– Wait, that guy that just ran over to Kvasir is heading back to the rear? Oh, shoot, the rear is dealing with a still-raging beast! Astrid shouts towards the group on the right flank, “OI, BSTRID, GO CLEAN UP THAT REAR DEEPTUSK!” Hearing herself be called upon, Bstrid perks up, gauges the situation, then gives a salute of acknowledgment before sprinting across the field as fast as her feet will take her. The Replicant arrives just as the beast attempts to swipe at Mori but the maid dodges into a hole in the ground. Risking it all, Bstrid charges up to the fray and slaps the back of the Deeptusk with a burst of magic, instantly cleansing the soapy substance from its hide in hopes that it loses its rage and can wander off peacefully. [4] If Astrid thought she could get there and back before something else happened, she would go too. In the meantime, she shouts to Buttfellow to follow Morrigan and make defensive maneuvers, then she rushes Arcus back towards the group with her Replicants to check in. When she arrives with the others, Astrid asks, “Everyone alright? I’m gonna go make sure Morrigan doesn’t get into much more trouble before that bubble in the middle bursts again!”Sensing some need for speed, Dstrid rushes over to Arcus and casts the quickening spell on him to give him a boost. [5] “Go help the folks that need it! We can take care a’ Cypress!” the Replicant says, giving Arcus a good pat and grimacing at the sight of the steed’s damaged armor. “An’ the rest of ‘em!” Cstrid declares, casting a spell to freeze the water in the air into a protective snow fort around Cypress. [6] “Kvasir’s doin’ a good job a’ helpin’.” Astrid shoots a grateful expression to the fox man. “Alright, time ta knock a little more sense into the creatures around here,” she says before taking off for the front flank. Arcus gallops through the air at blistering speed with the spirit guardian trailing closely behind him. It really does wish Astrid would slow down just a little, but that’s the life of a young adventurer. Spicy Pawsage barks and attempts to keep up with the pegasus. Catching up with Morrigan, Buttfellow slams his fists together, blue runes lighting up across his metal surface and causing electricity to start dancing across him, warning any creatures away from touching him. [7] The golem looks down at Morrigan taunting the mastermind with zero emotion on his face. Reaching the FRONT flank, Astrid identifies the still floating Deepfake and decides to deal with the problem she and Shaa sent their way. She’d really like to hit it with a magical ice beam, but that will drain her too much, so instead, she steers the pegasus within range and snaps her fingers, charging cold magic into her hammer and sweeping it ahead of her. A blistering, cold wind rushes past them and directly for the floating Deepfake, creating a thin layer of ice across its surface. [8] Hopefully, the spell works on it the same way it works on people by way of making them more susceptible to strikes because Astrid charges forward with both hammers at the ready and smashes them into the creature in quick succession just like before. [9] Three hits, two with her main hand and one with her offhand, both of them froth with ice magic and power from the small girl. That better do that thing in ‘cause Astrid’s gotta get back to her friends! Well, calling Morrigan Moonweaver a friend is a stretch. By any means, with Arcus’ fast pace, she can make it back to the RIGHT flank to join them at a comfortable distance from the bubble.

All across the fields of the Sunset Plains, chaos ensued. Each flank was assaulted and responding in their own ways, and all manner of responses were being tossed into the storm. Taki herself stood in the center of her own storm, drawing the attentions of the attacking creatures on the Front. The confirmed Deeptusk had been pacified, it's confused stampeding halted by the same Fellblood whose whistle had drown out her stowed companions from hiding. From either side, the Faketusks launched a coordinated strike. Three huge limbs sprouted, twisted masses of vine and plant material armoring another gooey creature. Whipping down overhead towards Taki, her flowing dance came to a sudden halt. The sound of the heavy strikes hitting the ground was thunderous, sending up dust and debris in a brief cloud that obscured the impact for a moment. As the nearby tornado carried the cloud away, Taki stood at the center of the impact with three huge limbs intersecting her body. Walking forward towards the creature she'd been attacking with the group, ghostly afterimages followed the Orochi in her quasi-ethereal state. This was the culmination of one aspect of her recent training, a dance so subtle one could be construed as a spirit or apparition for a short duration. Unharmed and unharmable, she approached with an otherworldly calm. Standing beside the creature she'd been attacking, her movements leaving a trail of spectral echoes, two of Taki's hands shot forward with the fluid ferocity of a striking viper. Flat palms vanished through the creature's interwoven exterior, unleashing a barrage of quick hits at it's slimy core. Moving away from the creature, the Orochi seemed to both move in slow motion and too fast simultaneously. The echoing rhythm of her every step displaying the intense skill and training she'd been undertaking. Rina streaked across the sky towards the strange call, mesmerized by it's effect. Nearly there as Taki's dancing began, the sound of the silvery bells that accompanied the distraction were enough to shake the Flitten free of the compulsion. She blinked, confused for a moment as the battlefield all around came into focus. Mountainous creatures clashed with the gathered adventurers, martial and magical forces pitting their might against one another. As panic began to set in, a familiar voice pierced the din of battle."RINA!! Rina!! Snap out of it!"Turning toward the voice, Kamina's equally tiny, sparking form came into view. "Kamina!! What's going on? Why are we out here?""I... I don't know, you just took off. We can't stay here, we either need to get back to Taki or away from all this...""There was a whistle... I remember a pretty tone, then this.""It's alright, but we can't stay here."Tugging at the Flitten's paws, Rina seemed a bit dazed but nonetheless followed. The pair were about to start towards Taki when she was attacked, and for a brief moment feared the worst. As they both raced towards the impact, the Orochi's visage appeared again. Sarne turns to get closer to Kamille and Disaster's side. Sarne gave the signal to the others when he heard Kamille's call. Sarne raised his sword and tuned it as he spoke some words Sarne was glad he could use his sword as a spell focus. [1] A wall of yellow translucent light hung in the air and glowing. Sarne was hoping the fake Deeptusk near him would run into it along with the spikes it shot. As Sarne and his subordinates got close. A soft white fire spilled in all directions. The white flames burst outward from Kamille's staff. Flames that didn't burn Sarne or his subordinates. The white flames only warded off any harm that came their way. Surne knew what Kamille was doing a spell that would protect the group. [2] Sarne spoke more words of magic as He called down a beam of light, pure energy cascading down from the sky. The light will cover a medium-sized area, filling it with light. The light will burn the fake Deeptusk Sarne was dealing with. Scorching it and causing it to take damage. As it burned in the light. Kamille's Golem was having a hard time controlling the fake Deeptusk. [3] Nordic, Naesala, and Vamir entered the White Flame of Circle. as the flames busted out. As the flames washed over them they also realized what this was. They readied their weapons and attacked the other fake Deeptusk if it was within range to do so they knew not to step outside the Circle as they attacked the beast around them.
Approach: On the Left Flank [1] Action 1: Wall of Light to the fake Deeptusk near Sarne You throw up a wall of yellow translucent light, hanging in the air and glowing. This wall of light will remain for three posts hovering in midair and will protect anyone who stands behind it. This wall can be controlled by its creator, allowing you to push it forward, backward, or side to side. Sarne will move to be covered by Kamille's White Flame of Circle of Life. [2] Action 2: Sarne will attack the fake Deeptusk near Sarne's Piercing Light You call down a beam of light, pure energy cascading down from the sky. This light will cover a medium-sized area, filling it with light. This light will burn anyone who stands inside of it, scorching their skin and causing them to take damage. For as long as they stand inside of the light they will continue to take the damage. [3] Action: Moving with Sarne, Nordic with two battle axes, Naesala with sword and dagger, and Vamir firing longbow they moved to get within the Kamille's White Flame of Circle of Life. Then attack the other fake Deeptusk that Kamille's Golem was attacking without leaving the Circle of Life. Action: Flare is on Sarne's Right side alert and ready to help Sarne. Their weapons will have Enchanting Sigil Fire RuneA Fire rune etched into the item causing the blade to appear a deep red. While this gives off no light the weapon does radiate heat in a small range. This rune causes the weapons attacks to burn like fire, burning flesh, and clothing. Can not be placed on a weapon with another elemental rune Sigils Blessing Holy A Holy weapon radiates with calming and relaxing energy, filling allies with hope. This weapon is effective against undead creatures and deals extra damage to evil-aligned people. After striking an enemy, allies of this weapon owner come to trust and respect the user while those who were struck now cower in the weapon's presence. Sarne Battle is over 1 left
