Gafelker and Nieven the new hopeful guild initiate, were told to venture into Charon, exploring some ruins and caves left behind by mages of the Age of Wonders. Gafelker and Nieven are to keep a log of their exploration, going through dangerous environments. Gafelker and Nieven were warned they would be dealing with potential wildlife. Gafelker and Nieven are to discover some kind of information detailing a Mystical Archive. They were to find tablets, documents, artifacts, or other pieces of knowledge telling the library.
So far the research has brought them to Moonveil forest. It sits on the north coast of the peninsula. This forest typical forest has dense wooded areas, large tree branches, twigs, fallen leaves, ferns, underbrush, moss, and plenty of wild animals.
As Gafelker and Nieven traveled the forest sounds of branches creaking, feet shuffling through the leaves, squirrels chattering, and wind whistling around the trees. Birds singing, insects humming, the rustle of animals moving in the underbrush. This put Gafelker at ease and relaxed mood. The smells of trees and wildflowers on the breeze, scents on the wind from nearby places of wild mint and herbs.
The trail Gafelker and Nieven had been traveling on was an ancient one They had found old stone markers along the way. Leading them to the runes they searched for. It would be hard to find being buried in the forest But they were close.
Quest Name: Mystical Archive Research Chapter: One Description: You, the hopeful guild initiate, must venture into Charon, exploring ruins, dungeons and caves left behind from mages of the Age of Wonders. You must detail your exploration, going through dangerous environments, dealing with potential wildlife, and discovering some kind of information detailing the Mystical Archive. However upon finding the information you learn that it has been stolen, taken from where it was found by others. These can be thieves, cultist, bandits or anyone with ill intentions. Requirements: Requires at least two people (you and one other, the other does not need to be interested in the guild) You must make at least 5 post with each post being 150 words to complete the mission. You must locate information regarding the Mystical Archive. The information is taken from you at the end of the topic, in anyway you desire. Once you complete this mission you gain access to chapter two. (which needs to be a separate topic)

Nieven joining the Mage’s Guild seemed like exactly the type of thing that the organization needed. An incredible divine talent such as himself was completely above Mage’s Guild material. He felt silly as he listened to the guild member go on and on about the initiation, why did someone as great as him still have to do it, he thought to himself in a huff. His arcane abilities were the best, besides the fact he had no offensive spells but that’s beside the point. His magical wellspring was superb and going through some icky dirty ruins was not the way he wanted to spend his afternoon. But alas the rules were the rules and for as much as the sylvan elf was irritated by it, he just decided to make his initiation the most memorable across all of Charon’s history. He kept a ledger in his pocket making various notes as he and Gafelker passed by. Mostly about how dirty and icky the forest was, after a few hours of Travel the two made it to Moonveil Forest. The sight of their research was an old and weary path but it was in the name of arcane excellence. That didn’t stop him from complaining though…
“Gods damn it, my feet hurt, and I’m bored Griffin are we there yet? I swear this path has to be the longest, most dreary trail I’ve ever been on. Why must the heavens punish me with this, is it because I’m too beautiful? All in the name of the development of the arcane arts I suppose though”.

Gafelker looked back at Nieven and cracked a grin. "OK, pretty boy. I will let the woman decide if you are looking good or not. I do not think you stand a chance while you stand next to a cute guy like me. Women like the short guys," remarked Gafelker. He was joking with Nieven. The trip was long and tedious.
"Yes, I would have to say the development of the arcane arts is an important thing to study if I do say so myself." added Gafelker with a nod. he walked a few more steps and stopped and gave an "ouch" as he stubbed his toe. "Yes, I wonder if the Gods are looking down at us and laughing," said Gafelker looking down moving some bushes out of the way with his staff. "But, well we are here, and look at the stone here the markings are different These runes are what we are looking for we are in the right place." informed Gafelker.
The stone floor, crumbling stone block walls overgrown with vines and bushes. some birds chirping standing at the top. Some other animals moving about. Now all they had to do was find the entrance to an old library. "Nieven, we start here. we have to find the entrance to an old library." said Gafelker moving some bushes to one side with his staff.

“Oh my friend I’m sure anyone can see how fabulous I am, my appearance was crafted by the gods itself. My incredible body is the most beautiful in Charon, alongside my impeccable fashion sense, no one stands a chance. Honestly, it almost makes me sad to think how people go living life without meeting me, truly a tragedy. You’re alright Griffin, not too shabby but remember who the best is because you’re looking at him”, Nieven would exclaim, his looks meant everything to him but still he entertained the joking conversation with the man. After all their journey still had so much left so talking was the only thing keeping him sane.
“Yes, I do agree with you my friend, discovering bits and pieces of magic and adding it to the mainstay is wonderful. I particularly enjoy researching wind magic trying to find out different ways of utilizing it for my benefit”, he pauses and checks on the man seeing him stub his toe, “You alright? I suppose so I’m sure they’re laughing with us, not at us”
The Sylvan Elf then lets out an excited yell, “FINALLY”, an energized vigor coming over him as they arrive at their destination.
“That sounds good to me, an old library entrance though should we even start looking?”, he questions.

Gafelker reaches down and rubs his toe "This was one way to find the place." He walked forward and placed his hand on a part of the broken wall. The stone wall was damp and cold. The forest had taken it over with vines and other bushes. "So, crafted by the gods? Did the gods teach you about finding an old library? or navigate the runes of a wizard tower?" Gafelker asked sarcastically.
Gafelker continued walking on. "For a library Look Underground I would guess. This fallen tower is not going to make this easy," says Gafelker with a sigh. Gafelker walked and looked around. "Look for an old door with runes on it or a hole with stairs leading down," explained Gafelker. He stopped and looked back at Nieven while poking at his staff at a spot. Gafelker follows the wall and tries not to trip on the brushes or vines.
There was a sound of something slipping and stuff falling. Gafelker shouted, "Dam!" As he disappeared. There was a hole where he was standing and the thud as Gafelker landed at the bottom.

“Well, no not exactly”, Nieven chuckles at Griffin’s sarcasm, “I’m just basically the best and with my genius efforts we’re sure to find some sort of entrance in no time at all”.
The sylvan elf would walk alongside the mage searching for any signs of an entrance. The area was old, able to be told by its large vines and signs of overgrowth. So much so that cracks were even spotted on some of the stone walls, this place screamed ancient powerful magic with information on the Mystical Archive.
“I shall return with information about an entrance posthaste”, he’d call out before walking around and searching.
While he was looking around he spotted some things that made him a little wary. Some tracks nearby signaled that some people had come by before. He just brushed this off thinking it fairly normal for an adventurer or two to come by plus who would ever stay in such a decrepit-looking place for longer than a minute? Well, he was here longer for a minute but Nieven had a noble cause, that of magical research! Before he could turn around and report his lack of findings he noticed there was a large, large hole where he last saw the forest gnome.
“Uh, hello? Griffin? Are you there? Where in the heavens did you go?”, he’d call out, getting increasingly worried by the moment.
Before long he just looked down the hole figuring that the fellow had triggered a trap and fell. As silly as that thought was, Nieven had to join him and make sure he was alright. Not wanting to simply just jump into the hole and possibly get injured he simply tapped his feet covering them with wind magic. He stepped on the air (1) itself almost as if trekking down an invisible set of stairs.

Sitting in a puddle of water Gafelker was pulling off vines and wiping dirt off his robes. He watched as Nieven walked down on cushions of air. Gafelker was grumbling and saying some not-so-nice words. "Nieven, I will live. Just got wet and had some cuts and bruises," responded Gafelker starting to stand up. His staff glows red with red magic swirling around it.
[1]As Gafelker condenses his fire magic. Fire energy within him He becomes warm to the touch and his body begins to steam as any excess liquid in and on his skin begins to boil and vaporize. Gafelker releases Fire in an outward dome-like fire form him that vaporizes and turns any liquid within its radius to steam. Gafelker's dome is 10 feet in diameter. As the water disappears all the creepy insects and snakes run away.
Things cool down Gafelker gets a smile on his face. "now that is better." Comments Gafelker with a chuckle. "Nieven, it looks to be what we were looking for." said Gafelker looking around. He glances both ways in the tunnel.
The tunnel was overgrown. It was damp the air was cool. There were stone blocks that could be seen peering through the foliage. Some strange crystals glowed like torches. They gave just enough like to see. "I say we go this way." Suggested Gafelker walking down the tunnel

Nieven couldn’t help but give a self-satisfied smirk as he walked down the invisible flight of stairs.
“Well, it appears my greatness and arcane proficiency have saved the day once again…well my day at least, I think it’s already a little too late to save your day. I am glad to see that you’re alright though fellow, can’t have my partner on this mission up and die on me already. We still have the initiation to get through now then, do you need some healing? I’m neither a doctor nor a connection to the light domain, but it doesn’t seem so hard".
The Sylvan Elf steps back eleven feet feeling heat and warmth grow around Gafelker as the man gathers fire magic around him and condenses it into his body. It was certainly a unique way of healing but healing nonetheless Nieven supposed, you can’t be choosy when you’ve been hurt.
“Indeed my friend”, Nieven says looking around at the tunnel, “We are even closer to our goal than before, with just some searching we’ll find some Mystical Archive information easily. Now then we should go the way you said to go”, the Sylvan Elf then walked in front of Gafelker taking charge and leading the two forward. He hummed to himself as they walked through deep foliage and crystals around them as they continued.

Nieven walks in front of Gafelker taking the lead the two walk forward. Nieven started humming to himself as they walked through deep foliage and crystals lighting their way around them as they restarted down the old passageway. "This is a lot more than I thought would be here. The knowledge we seek better be here," commented Gafelker kicking a rat to one side as it squeaked. It was getting harder to get past the foliage as they went on. The old passageway turned now and then. Some other old passageways collapsed and could not be passed.
The only thing they ran into was a few snakes and rats that were no problem for them to take care of. After what felt like forever they came to a wall. The Wall had a circle that seemed like an inlaid stone door with inscriptions on the door. Both Nieven and Gafelker could barely make it out.
The inscription read "With two and the wind the edge cutter can free the mind. The stone can see the wind and be free to show the knowledge of the mind and time." there are two slits in the stone in the middle of the stone. It took some time to translate about a half hour. Gafelker looked at Nieven. "Wind magic to unlock this door? I am not sure," said Gafelker running his hand back over the door.

“Indeed it appears it has been a long time since the gardener visited this site, no wonder the poor area for magical research has devolved into such a state. I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before we find something of interest here. Something magical surely has to be here, I mean I can feel the arcane energy in the air already, although that just might be me and my great power in that case I’m sorry for my strength”, Nieven would state with total honesty and sincerity.
The tunnel becomes more overrun with plants most likely overgrown because of the arcane energy around. Signs of decay and age could be spotted all around from collapsed passages to broken walls. This place had seen better days. They’d seen the occasional vermin whenever that’d happen Nieven would hide behind Gafelker and let him handle it. After some time they came across something interesting, a stone wall with runes and writings on it. The Sylvan Elf would stand right in front of it looking at it, trying to make out what it said. It seemed old as the letters were faded and discolored, it was hard to even tell what they were looking at.
But Nieven Oakenthorn was nothing if not a genius so after sitting down and just staring at the wall he began finding patterns. Certain words become more readable as he skimmed through it, “Wind…Edge Cutter…Mind. Stone…Wind…Free…Mind”, he’d read out loud. After combining it with Gafelker's observations and theory they managed to come up with, “With two and the wind the edge cutter can free the mind. The stone can see the wind and be free to show the knowledge of the mind and time”.
Nieven exclaimed with joy, “Yes, of course, that sounds right my friend, my brilliance never fails to deliver”, taking all the credit for their shared discovery, “Well it seems pretty simple what we must do. I can attack it with wind magic and I’m sure it’ll open right up just watch”.
The Sylvan Elf stood in front of the door a few feet away holding his arms back and gathering wind magic into his throat. He’d then aim it squarely at the middle of the door firing off a condensed cone of sharp wind (1). The wall shook and the runes on its surface glowing a deep green as it opened.

When Nieven shouted with delight. Gafelker wondered if Nieven believed he was that great. Nieve's brilliance never fails to deliver? questions Gafelker thinking about it. Gafelker could see that Nieven thinks he is a gift from the gods. Gafelker chuckled at Nieven. "Yes I am sure you will do the right thing and sense I do not have sky domain I would say you are the perphick man for the job." Gafelker said looking at the door.
After Nieven hit the wall with wind magic wall shook and the runes on its surface glowed a deep green as the large stone wheel rolled open. There was a small gust of wind as dust was blown into their face from the room when the wheel stopped. The air was warm and dry coming from the room in front of them.
When Gafelker and Nieven got close they looked inside. the room was large with bookshelves tables and chairs the room was dusty very dusty. Gafelker stepped in with his staff first then stepped in close to the rolling stone door. Magic Torches light up the walls illuminating the room. Gafelker smiled wide "This is it! We have found the library." said Gafelker with excitement. Gafelker walked in and started to look around.

Nieven would look back at Gafelker with a satisfied smirk, “Indeed I did my friend, after all, I am the perfect man for any job ever. With Nieven Castiel Oakenthorn on the case the job is as good as done with perfection, and proficiency”.
He then covered his face with his hands as the gust of wind blew right back at their faces as the wheel of the room spun.
“Sorry for that, it appears my great wind magic overwhelmed the wall’s security and has opened up for us. I do have that effect on walls, whatever is in my way usually is blown away".
The Sylvan Elf entered through the door and looked around. It was apparent that the pair of adventurers had found their goal. A large room with bookshelves, dusty tables, and chairs most likely decades since last explored.
Nieven spun around the room in pure delight, “WE DID IT GAFELKER WE DID IT. I for one had not a single doubt in my brilliant mind that we wouldn’t find it. Now then let us scour the room for important information on the Mystical Archive at once”.
He’d then reach over to one of the tables and grab the nearest book before quickly dropping it as the dust covered me with disgust.
“Ewwww”, he’d exclaim loudly, “These books are vile, just look at the sorry state of them”, before trying to clean the book he’d just dropped. As Nieven got the chance to finally read a loud noise began to build up faint at first but it got louder and louder as moments went by, large footsteps.

The “Ewwww” from Nieven made Gafelker chuckle at Nieven. "You should be careful with the books, Nieven. You damage something we need. This will be all for nothing," warned Gafelker. He looked at Nieven from around a bookcase.
Gafelker disappeared back around the bookcase with the sound of Gafelker looking through books "What!" came from Gafelker as magic words were said. "I did not realize that. Do not try to make air. Use what you have. I feel so dumb," said Gafelker out loud. Speaking more words
Swirling wind and lightning surrounded Gafelker, He creates enough of a charge to dash insanely quickly in a direction. Gafelker blurs forward and dashed at inhuman speed to the doorway they came in. "I learned Sky domain spells finally," said Gafelker with a big smile. as dust filled the room. and rolled out the door.
Gafelker stood by the door. He could hear a racket start to develop at first. Faint but it got more audible and louder as the seconds ticked on. Large footsteps like Stone on Stone were getting closer. Gafelker looked at Nieven. "This cant be good," commented Gafelker looking out the doorway.

“Yes, yes Gafelker do not worry I have it all under control plus there are so many books here that we can probably lose a few ones and still leave with full hands. Some of these books are in horrible shape tattered and in ruins it pains me to see such a relic of knowledge and mastery in such disarray”, the sylvan elf would say as he picked up another book only to have its cover fall off and hit the ground causing dust to fly with the impact. Nieven would jump back and starting coughing from the dust hitting his face.
“Disgusting the sooner we leave with the research the better I’ll say”, cleaning himself of the grim.
Nieven then froze in his tracks as the loud thumping nearby grew louder and louder, something was coming and it wasn’t alone. He gave Gafelker a nervous look as he raised his finger to his mouth signaling for him to quiet down.
“Hide somewhere at once”, he’d yell in a hushed tone before diving behind an old crate and covering himself with its lid only having a single hole to peek out through.
A loud thud could be heard coming from outside the door repeating a few times before it stopped suddenly. Before Nieven could let out a sigh of relief the door burst open as a strange figure in rocklike armor smashed through it. Behind them, a large group of mercenary bandits appeared all with evil grins on their faces as they settled into the room.
“Alright boys”, the large rock figure would say their form returning to a normal human and kicking away a nearby book, “Let’s get these ancient texts and tomes and get out of here. After scouting the area for a few days all we had to do was just wait for some chumps to do our work for us. Speaking of, I wonder where they went, coulda sworn I saw that little gnome and elf fella running around. Guess they either got lost or got themselves killed anyway to get to work. Grab as many of these books as you can and get them loaded on the wagon outside. We’ll sell these babies to the highest bidder and we should be set for life”.

Hearing Nieven say hide. Gafelker kicked up dust one more time getting to the back of the library. [1] Gafelker got to a hiding spot and caused a large slab of stone to rise up out of the ground, creating a rectangular wall made of Stone. The wall is ten feet in height and five feet in width. Blocking the view and detection of Gafelker. Gafelker could hear the sound of people coming into the library. then there was a crash as armor broke through the door. he could hear more men walking into the library they were not there to talk decided Gafelker. Gafelker heard some muffled orders being given as the noise got louder and the men seemed to be looting the place. Gafelker could hear muffled talking. and they had followed Gafelker and Nieven to the library. Gafelker felt like a fool at this point. At least the mercenaries were not looking for him. He hears something about a hideout and they are going back there to store the books. Gafelker waited for the men to leave before dropping the wall and walking toward the door. the place was a mess and anything of value was gone. Gafelker shook his head. "Nieven, We need to get the stuff back soon. I am sure they won't leave to many men around for guards," suggested Gafelker rubbing his beard.
[1] Stone Wall Earth Domain Skill You cause a large slab of stone to rise up out of the ground, creating a rectangular wall made of the earth. This wall remains where it was created and can be used to block ranged attacks or separate enemies, blocking off parts of the battle field. The wall can be returned to the earth by will or knocked down with enough force. This wall is ten feet in height and five feet in width.
